Well, they did say that the new level 60 content would be balanced for 5-U and T6 ships.

EDIT: As everyone could guess, the Delta Rising gamepack (read: Oversized DLC bundle) has been revealed, and it shows all but one of the new ships. The remaining T6 Fed boat is actually not a T6 Connie, but a T6 Galaxy (Failaxy 2: The Electric Boogaloo?).

Personally I'd say that the only potentially really cool-looking ship is the Eclipse Cruiser, assuming you can change the material texture to Type 1 or Type 6 and there isn't a bass-mouth hiding underneath it.

If you define "win" as in "being a PvP r0x0r": a lot of shekels unless you want to invest a year in hardcore potato farming. A T6 ship alone already costs about 30 dorras, before outfitting it. A few months of rep grinding on top.

a T6 Galaxy

If they would make a T6 Sovereign and a Double-D, lots of pants would be wet. Mine included. Eh, who am i kidding, they always ignore us poor Romulans...

Screw T6 Connie btw.

EDIT: They brought back Hairy Kim? Great.... maybe we can exchange him for his frozen copy and put it on display.

Okay, I just had a look at the new ships and... where do you see the T6 Failaxy? The Artwork looks more like one of the retarded alternate T4 ships. But the romship has less angled wings on those, so maybe they changed it.

What bothers me is the fact that only one of the two available KDF/ROM ships are intel-ships. What will be the point of buying a T6 ship if it doesn't come with the new gimmicks? Will they get another universal BOFF slot instead? The intel boat even has a better cloak than the other one.
Sadly the new Rom intelboat looks like a dhelan, my least favorite rom design... I could live with mini-dd if they make up for the lack of intel power.

The Fed escort looks like the bastard child of the Defiant and a bugship! Craptic probably thought "everybody wants a bugship, so the look must be awsome to them".

Personally I'd say that the only potentially really cool-looking ship is the Eclipse Cruiser, assuming you can change the material texture to Type 1 or Type 6 and there isn't a bass-mouth hiding underneath it.

And it comes with a cloaking device on top! I doubt you can change the material though, as you couldn't do it for the dyson boats. Better get used to TRON IN SPACE!

I am really curious about the reasoning for this radical change of design traditions ONLY for the fed ships. The Dyson boats were white because they quickly glued together some Dyson tech. The fleet Rom boats have a yellowish glow because they incorporated Elachi tech. But why are Fed ships now dark and egdy dark grey and angled with a cyan glow? Is there some canon ship or tech I don't remember they took it from? Can't be the Aegis set...

Maybe they're Section 31 ships and follow some different design philosophy.

Or maybe the feds asked the Andorians and Caitians to help out with the design.

Also, it's possible we'll be able to make them grey/white like normal fed ships with ship customization.

Still, the Cruiser is potentially good looking and might look fairly traditional, IF they give material variety.

even if you can, they would still look weird as hell. the defiant mod less so and the guardian prolly would look normal, but the eclipse and scryer would look shit since they don't even have proper nacelles.
that also looks wierd on the faeht and the qib, but slightly less so.

The Eclipse isn't really that huge of a departure, since it's just a more angular design of a quad nacelle ship (the nacelles themselves look like a design evolved from the Sovereign's angular nacelles instead of traditional smooth curved nacelles). The real question is how its bottom side looks like. The science vessel looks weird at first, but it probably looks a lot less weird if it had standard Material Type 1 or Type 6.

Based on the concept art, the Guardian is just a pimped out Galaxy.

they might be an evolution of some previous design, but the point is that since they lack warp grills or collectors, they aren't really or even look like warp nacelles.
i bet they made one trek conform design per faction (guardian, maha, aelahl) to lessen the amount of bitching by actual trekkies about the tron designs, which non-trekkies are more likely to pick over the normal ones.

on the other hand you could argue that those designs might be an evolution towards the timeships.

Seems that the Caitian/Stealth is the correct explainashun, there are obvious similarities to the carrier and his stalker fighters.

Just to clarify things: is the Intel BOFF on top of the normal BOFF stations, or is he replacing an existing one? So, is the non-intel ship loosing a station, or will it just loose a gimmick but gain a normal/universal station? I assume it's the latter.
I just remembered that the Dyson boat only comes with 3 tac consoles, so unless the free upgrade gives her an extra tac console, it would be a step back from fedtac's my mirror promie. My plan to buy the Rom T6 doesn't look as good anymore. What had come over me to choose the Risian Pleasure Boat over the Corvette? :argh:

intel boffs are duals. they have full access to both intel and a (tac/sci/eng) power set, so either way you aren't losing a slot.

If the cruiser comes with 4 tacs and a decent boff layout, my Romulard will have to make do with a T5.5 Fleet Arrrrrrrkif. Curse you Craptic!

Well if the upgrade thingies can be traded on the exchange you should be able to simply grind some EC and get a T5-U Arkif that way.

Exchange prices for those thingies will be astronomical in the beginning, since everybody wants some. I SHOULD have enough Zen stashed away for one T6 and one upgrade, but until now I considered my Romtac as main. Though considering how the story is more fed-centric and Codexia never getting any good toys (while my roms got spoiled), I think it will be her turn to bring INCLINE to the delta quadrant. :incline:
Fingers crossed for a good layout, I would hate to be stuck with the pseude-bugship escort.

Ar’Kif Tactical Warbird Retrofit +1 Science Console
Precise Weapon Systems +2.5% Accuracy
Singularity Circuitry -15% Cooldown to Singularity Powers, +30% Singularity Charge Rate
Enhanced Weapon Systems +10% All Energy and Kinetic Damage
Devastating Weaponry +2.5% Critical Chance

Brings the fleet version to 5 Tacticool, 2 Eng, 4 Sci. I could live with that for a small upgrade fee.

Dysons and the DD get another engineering console, leaving them at 3 tacs.. boo!

Especially because the Risian Pleasure Brick seems to get a 4th tac console. Expect half of the server population to fly the funbrick.

'Lo, I have found the Holy Grail of Firepower! It seems that the Heavy Phaser Lance console on the Phantom Escort isn't ship-specific!

... Assuming Cryptic didn't just forget about the blurb for Phantom's console in their hype article.
