Statwise they don't bring much new to the table, so it's all down to Starship Traits and if Intelligence officers will be worth two shits.

T5U is completely irrelevant upgrade, its not trading one console slot for a ability, its getting one console slot instead of a Lt Cmdr ability.

And those arent even the T6 ships, they are the T6 Intel ships ...that will have a extra console at Fleet.

... I am out.

Actually in terms of abilities they're not really that better off. The closest equivalent ship for cruisers is the D'deridex which has 12 slots (and compared to the Eclipse, it can boast more flexibility due to LtC Sci slot being one of the LtC slots), and all of those extra slots on so-far shown T6s are mostly just sub-optimal windshield decorations. The real power difference is definately going to be in the Starship traits, Active Sensor Scan, and possibly in Intel boffs.

There will not be a power difference due to the starship traits. It's purely console vs. extra LtC Power, until Fleet T6 comes out and outclasses T5-FU in every way. While T5s don't unlock a trait, nothing prevents you from USING an unlocked trait, so there's no actual difference.

Actually, if a Star Trek themed MMO didn't keep you interested years ago, the game hasn't change enough to reignite your flame. The only really new thing is playing as a Romulan (a Republic splinter group that is), complete with storyline, homeplanet and ships. No real faction though, you have to ally with Feds or Klangs and continue their story missions after ~ lvl 30.

Though it also bears mention that the game doesn't really even begin until level 30 and 40, since before that you are stuck in extended pre-tutorial since you have access to barely any abilities.

I'd say the ship very much has potential. The highest Cruiser console count for Feds is with the Avenger (4, and I very much prefer my Odyssey after using both extensively), but Eclipse has some things going on for it: It's faster, Active Sensor Scan, and it has a much superior boffing layout. The only cruiser that otherwise has 5 Tac consoles is Scimitar.

Now, a real kicker would be if Fleet Eclipse has 4 Tac consoles...

Regarding the Romulan Intelbird, my main attraction to it is simple: It comes with a Yamato Cannon.

With the upcoming Fleet T6 in mind, the Intelbird looks like a decent buy for my toons, with the potential to be a fleet version later.

The real question will be the price for a Fleet T5 -> Fleet T5.5 upgrade. While they cannot compete with a T6 (or a future Fleet T6), a meager 500 potato fee would be an okayish cost saving alternative, since the Rom already has a FT5.
Codexia would need to go the whole "buy T5, buy FT5, upgrade to FT5.5" route, which would be retarded compared to a fresh T6 in terms of cost AND result. Or she could just travel the Delta Quadrant in the Pleasureblimp.

I'd say 500 cashpotato is way too much. It'd need to be 200, or even less for premium ships. Fleet ships should get a free conversion to T5U.

Btw, does the Love Boat come with a unique interior?

They said 5-10 bucks is what they are aiming at.

Risa ships? Nay ...
Well, I was talking more along the lines of what I'd consider fair pricing for the upgrade.

And phooey, what use is a Love Boat with a built-in beach if you can't even go take a look at that beach?

They were already talking about 500-1000, 500 being the maximum I would spend, and only on the fleet version. The Risian Pleasureblimb only has the option to change between "shutters closed", beach and i think jungle. Not that you would notice that outside the customisaton window

"Fair" depends on were you sit, Cryptic apparently have no problem in wanting to charge for a extra tier or two price for a "half tier" upgrade, the CDF (that I hope are plants) also think its "fair".

Its a better tactical cruiser that most Fed cruisers.

It may help if you say what faction/class your toons are.

I only slapped the protonic lolerons on them, the free DHCs you get from the dyson rep projects. What? I was spacepoor like you! When it comes to not spending moneyz you can always use the dyson console set from the feature episodes, or the Jem Hadar set from the Cardassian arc. I think the JH gives a tiny bonus to polaron weapons, thats why i use it on the U.S.S. Potatotrowel. Aside from the rep weapons (the rom disruptors are verrry nice) the only other free guns are the plasma-disrupter-hybrids (blue quality cannons and beams), or the new antiprotons from an Undine mission (beam array only IIRC, so no good on the dyson boat). Not spending money on the weapons leaves you more to buy blue tac consoles to get the most out of them.
Allah knows you will need it on an "escort" with only 3 tac consoles.

EDIT: the bonus dmg to polaron from having at least two parts of the JH set is actually ~10%.

They Dyson destroyer has a fixed Proton DHC front in tacticool mode, making it a beamboat would make it's usefulness even lesser. That's why I consider it a not-so-good "escort": you only get 3 slots in the front to benifit from tac consoles, if you slot a torp only two. With only 3 tac consoles the Dyson's dmg output is rather lacking. If the free T5.5 upgrade would have at least added another tac console, but nooo, another engineering.

I hope you are not talking about the mirrior universe patrol escort good Sir, because not having a smooth ride with it would be a massive DECLINE on your side. It's the poor man's bugship after all!

well i am :) but hear me out:
i often have so much fun blowing ships up that i forget how fragile i am and that leads to respawn timer ... i simply was wondering whether changing boat would give me moar durability with only slightly worse fireworks ...but it looks like dyson boats are a bust and i was too burnt out to collect this years risa boat and only got the old one ... so it looks like i will still fly what i fly now and make do

The MUPE is still a good ride for the Delta Raisin. As is the mirror Qin for Klanks.
Because.... come on! MUPE can run 2 x EPtS, 2 X TacTeam, EngTeam, SciTeam and TSS. PLUS batteries and rep traits AND all your Tac abilities. Nothing short of soloing a Borg Tacticool Cube in ISE should blow you up! :salute:

However the Dyson Destroyer DOES get the scaling hp from the free T5.5 upgrade IIRC (and better shields from being a sciboat), so the ~25% loss in dmg could be an acceptable price for you in exchange for a higher survivability.

MUPE > Dyson
BUT
Dyson T5.5 @ lvl60 may be > MUPE depending on your playstyle

I suggest you just run the Dyson T5.5 and not to worry too much.
Use (protonic) Polaron DHCs and 2 parts of the JH set (engine preferable) for the +10% dmg and you are good to go.
The Klang Dyson even gets a 15%(?) dmg bonus shortly after decloaking on top of that.
