French-speaking Talans. Perfect.
French actor for Cutter is sooo much better than the generic english one. Devs are french so...

Devs are Belgian, and the German dubbed Cutter was also miles better.

Reddit is shitting all over the visuals but to me they look just right. Not sure if it's the unambiguous summer saturation or the wide FoV.

Idk man, they give off a somewhat different feel than the original to me. Not sure if that's good or bad yet, but...
Also not sure this really has to be made tbh. Can't imagine much interest for the game outside of those who played the original and have fond memories of it.

is it my impression or Cutter got a lot whiter.
Who cares about color? He had a military desert warrior tan, but mos def white.

Before he was a manly man, now his face is that of a brodude that lived his life playing Xbox. Decline is decline.

I love this, I'll definitely get it as I'm a fanboy, but... are they using the exact same animations from the old game? They're gonna get hammered by mainstream media graphic whores.

Nope, the animations are new, just watch the gameplay of the original on youtube.

Also animations seem good enough to me, ( well there is some poor blending to be seen, but I hope they'll polish that for the release ).

I've played it enough times, last time some months ago, to know that the animations are very similar, at least the basic ones like running and jumping. Oh well, it's maybe what they are aiming for, I don't have a problem with that anyway.

Awesome game. My favorite action-adventure. If it had stats it would rank high on the RPG list as well. Probably deserves to be in RPG section if Dark Souls and others are.

I like the remake graphics and gameplay: they are updated but still true to the original style and palette. Too often remakes look or play nothing like the originals (Doom,Thi4f etc.).

I have the 1.1 version in my Steam(and have the original purchase from 1999 back at home complete with the broken installer), but the Steam version just keeps crashing on me. Would love to play it without issue again, even as an update.

Those are reboots, not remakes.

Awesome game, but a bit repetitive. I don't feel like playing again the remake ( I generally never replay games ).
Will buy on sale though, in hope they'll get to make a sequel one day, that I'd play.

My team has the sexiest and deadliest waifus you can recruit.
Decided to give the original a shot in anticipation of the remake.

It already does some things right. NPCs forcefully exit dialogue when someone hostile starts shooting at either one of you while proclaiming they are under attack, and NPCs won't answer you if you ask them about another NPC who's standing right next to you, instead telling you to ask them about it some distance away from the guy. I shouldn't be impressed with things like these that should be a given, but given the current climate of gaming I can't help but be impressed.

The game's AI was supposed to be on point. IIRC it was sold as every NPC having a schedule, biological needs, and ulterior motives. You could potentially create rube goldberg chains of events to get your way. Or run and gun, that always works.

The AI is indeed not THAT advanced, but there are a lot of little touches to NPC schedules which makes me like the game more. I saw enemy soldiers training with their firearms on scarecrows, some groups of enemies have regular meetings, riss farmers actually seem to regularly bring the crops to Maar, and enemies will react to dynamite you placed (by observing it like dumbasses instead of getting out of dodge, but it's something). Though the slow projectile speed and low magazine size of your starting pistol might seem silly, it does make the combat not that much of a cakewalk. It's not elegant, but it works. Quicksaving making a noise that attracts nearby enemies should've been included in more stealth games.

I do love this game's sense of humor.

Yeah, it's less of an issue once you start weakening the enemies through quests (cut off food supplies, taxes, etc) and if you travel to Talanzaar you can buy new weapons and upgrade them, so combat becomes a non-issue as you advance through the game.

Yeah I also wish them the best. I was disappointed that their kickstarter failed, but really glad it is still coming. And it looks like it will be a good remaster.

What are they changing again? Are they leaving the sound and music the same, just resampling them? I hope so. The graphics seem nice, the devs kept the original style.

Visuals, mechanics and some new areas are all the core changes.
  • The Outcast universe completely redone with modern graphics.
  • Combat even more dynamic with new moves: dodges, rolls, sprint and cover system.
  • New hidden areas divulging some of the most hotly debated mysteries of Adelpha by the fans of the original game.

Also, judging by the trailer/screenshots, they're using the original voice work and the areas appear to be remapped identically (eg: screen of tutorial zone with jump test) - so it seems like a remaster in the truest sense.
