I call those things: tactics that work.

But, simply because they work, many people call them OP and want them banned.

So, we all should battle with twigs and call each other "Meanie!"? To make sure nobody has any advantage?

PC RPG Website of the Year, 2015 Codex 2016 - The Age of Grimoire Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
generally, when a tactic is called overpowered, it means that the tactic is so effective that every other tactic is non-viable, making every game a repetitive and boring mirror match.

edit: people do whine too much about balance. if people that are more skilled than you have no problems playing against a strategy, you really don't have any excuse other than to get better.

It's like reading Sun Tzu and banning everything he thinks is effective.

The degenerate game play is because people tend to stick with things that work. Only when it stops working are they going to experiment. It's not as if it is the only effective tactic.

In multiplayer, people tend to gravitate to the current popular tactic, instead of trying to find a counter. So, half the reason to nerf it is to have players use the other sides / tactics as well.
