Yeah, sadly, past the theorycrafting the game is still shit.

How so? I mean, aside for the fact Diablo was shit in the first place, or other such arguments.

Desync, basically. It's the same reason everyone gives, even though desync isn't really that big of a problem if you play around it.

Sure, desync harms the game in a major way, but it doesn't make the game shit, PoE is definitely better than most ARPGs to date.

Some people try to say, "you have to trade to play poe" but that's flat-out wrong; I do self-found HC all the time. It's not exactly easy but it's do-able for 1-80. I could see Atziri being tough without the ability to purchase certain uniques or items though she represents a small niche of content. If you like ARPGs but don't like to trade or farm for items you've got some cognitive dissonance there or something.

There are other imperfections with the game but not enough to warrant the title "shit". "Shit" would be a more apt term for D3, considering what could be expected from a company like Blizzard.

In many ways, GGG definitely astounds me. How the fuck do their patches have average downtimes of <5 minutes. Makes Blizzard look grossly incompetent with regular 8-24 hour patch downtimes.

How so? You mean to say D3 isn't a shallow casual game that plays incredibly smooth?

And you are wrong, if someone played D3 recently, or hell even Torchlight, PoE's combat does seem indeed SHIT. And they won't fix desync, and they keep bringing fast mobs or abilities that make desync 10 times worse.
It's a bit sad when a so called hardcore game with a niche adult audience prioritizes security regardless of how much it fucks up gameplay.

It's shitty with the desync ,but the game surprisingly does not suffer from game-breaking bugs ,something D3 and T2 have. You can play around desync but when mob hit you for million damage instead hundred or you are stuck in animation or object bring bigger frustration for me in the end.

Gods Invasion League is like a serial killer that whispers in your ear."You just might get away, just play the game, come on you know you want to". And then you Rip and go FUUUUUUUUUUU and start your 20th char thinking, this time ill be more careful no way are they going to get me with the same trick again. Yet its addicting and I cant go back to normal league anymore. :/

You would be better off playing Tome 4 instead of wasting your time in this click-fest. At least there the encounters require also some tactics, not just some gear/dps numbers check.

I have played D3 recently.

It... just isn't half as fun as PoE. The combat is more boring, the drops are more boring, the strategies are more boring, and the uniques are definitely more boring.

I am not sure what you are saying.

Yep same with D2 even when having Eastern sun mod, I can play only hour then boredom hits me. And its back to PoE, them say 2 Am you do a mistake/desync/sleepines and frantically push alt+F4 only to see the glimpse of resurrect screen. Then the depression hits and go FUUUUUUUUUUUUU all that time wasted.

Oh well, I can't really tell the difference. What's showing it?

So is he being sarcastic like in 2008? Or just shilling for blizzard?

Hehe man talk about Athens ego, but yeah hes overdoing it. No immortality build as such yet, there are few interesting ones, but you can RIP with them to and besides most are tied to certain item combos.

I did a quick search on here to no avail. Summer approaches and I want to dive into Diablo 1 again with my siblings who also grew up with the grandfather of ARPGS. Can anyone reference me some resolution fixes/mods that help it on Windows 7 64 bit? The original discs I have don't even really work.

P.S. PoE is pretty good in the ARPG vein, but I played enough of that. This is purely for a summer of nostalgia.

I'm drawing a blank here, could the Wizard summon in the original Diablo ? Although I've never really used the zombie, skeleton and spectre summons since the availability of Animate Guardian I've made extensive use of that type of summon to help with drawing or dividing the focus of creatures. I imagine it can become incredibly effective with a specialised character design and the right use of items (the Guardian incorporates the qualities of the items used..). As a summon it is practically a computer controlled player-character, so whilst not especially skill oriented I'm sure it could be made into a fairly powerful summon for most if not all levels of the game.

also I would like to participate in the upcoming event:

level 40 seems reasonably manageable for most players, besides of course the part where they inadvertently stumble into the path of an Invasion boss, but that's part of the experience and certainly heightens the sense of challenge as it were. Whether that challenge is entirely balanced I'll leave aside but even so for an open prize contest with a charity theme it is a surprisingly accessible event for the majority of players to participate in.

Level 40 is like the beginning of cruel, so more than manageable. I would say that in a two week race, it will be relatively easy to get to all the levels of rewards except the 85level one. But Im not entirely aware of how difficult are the invasion bosses and that would be the most deadly part of the race for me.

In-game nick: Burakon.

At the moment I'm level 40 on my way to Merveil. Taking it slow because some Invasion bosses are pretty hard and since I haven't played in the Invasion league I don't know what to expect. Had to reset instance once because of a tittybitch using chaor firestorm or something like that. Other than that, don't try to facetank that huge skeleton, he hits like a truck.

Bit late to the party due work.
nick is _Kalevipoeg_

Digging the combined invasion-ambush mode, hoping to get some juicy prizes to. And had a nice unique Widewing Poleaxe drop, the RNG gods must be favoring me , for now.
