From a long term fallout 3 fan- and someone who has played Ultima games as well as Oblivion Morrowind etc- thank you for the hideout customization-- I just hope reputation is hard enough to farm to qualify as prestigious when you finally get that ''hideout outhouse'' from your master.

LOL
You gotta love what 'features' are the most anticipated by the average drone. I hope GGG doesn't venture too much in this direction.

I wonder how is it going to change the economy.
We get some nice money sinks but on the other hand we may get so many good, hand crafted items that market will be flooded with them.

would Cast on Critical work with..Storm Shield ? Tempest Shield ? I forget the name, the spell that reflects lightning damage with shield blocks.

You would just cast or cancel the aura with every crit.

would there be any combination so that Tempest Shield combined with Cast on Critical could cast Arc or other spells ?

Oh, you want to use it that way.
No, CoC only works with skills that have "Attack" keyword in them.

yeah I just looked into the possibility and apparently that is why Tempest Shield won't work as such, and I suppose it would be excessive for builds that specialise with block.

Cool, they updated the Shadow area. Might go back and play my claw reaver some; I just love tinkering with that skill tree.

not sure what to assume just yet, some of the newly arranged skill pathways hold promise for how I usually play my Templar or Ranger, but there are also some noticeable omissions, particularly the life (8%) and mana (6%) clusters. Some of the notables seem unusually powerful, but that seems to be the trend of this new skill tree. For instance see "Swift Precision" between the Templar and Marauder trees as one of the more obvious choices for any of these classes not using two-handed selections.

there is also a useful increase of regeneration nodes for the Templar to help supplement energy shield and life combinations, most probably to try improving Zealot's Oath. Conversely it seems more costly and slightly less beneficial to access "Static Shocks" which has been renamed to "Breath of Thunder", yet this pathway also allows for greater access to additional notables in the area.

on the Ranger side it seems as though melee has been improved and "Crystal Skin" looks a touch more accessible for early inclusion (I would need to count the skill requirements with the present tree to know for sure).

overall it looks like an interesting revision, I suppose changes could still be expected before the new expansion, but once again GGG has probably enticed me to play in yet another league -_-

Looks neat, with all the health nerf I can finally ignore Duelist three on my Marauder and concentrate on juicy templar/ scion skills like buff effect and mana reservation.

Help me here codex I'm a bit lost.

There's going to be a skill reset in 2 days with the update and I intend to make use of this.

Currently rolling a level 66 summoner Templar but I've grown sick of summons. I have enough extra gear and skill gems to make for an easy transition.
I want to make use of the Templar tankiness and spellcasting ability. Basically running in the middle of a pack of mob and drop the AOE spells (those centered around the caster).

Yet I've no idea how to pull this without getting my ass kicked in Merciless and maps, where I stand right now.

How do?

(I already went and looked in the forums for hours on end. There's few tried and tested Templar build and none fits my description. That or it's an immense wall of texts with extremely specific gear and methods).

most of my recent characters are Templars, and yet as much as I've tried to play a spellcaster the usually become more of a melee orientated design with some spellcasting. In terms of being able to withstand attacks and use spells I think Flameblast would be a sound choice, but apparently the damage is being changed in the coming expansion (there might actually be patch notes today, I'm yet to check myself).

otherwise although I have no experience with using the skill Righteous Fire might suit your interests, as it is probably among those spells which are the most complementary to the Templar's elemental specialisations. I have a similar issue with the use of Infernal Blow that would match my Templar's playstyle perfectly (taking the increased radius skills at the start every time) but would be discordant with the character's theme. In fact many of Path of Exile's skills and items present that problem, such Vaal orbs and gems.

well in any case I'll be making another melee Templar, this time with some specialisation in shields since many of the Templar's early skills focus on shield abilities. The challenge will be whether I commit to transitions into the Witch skill path for the spellblocking abilities or try something altogether different and move into the Marauder's area. Also I was mistaken Static Shocks is still available, close to where Breath of Thunder is, but for the number of skills and branching options it might be better if increased critical strikes are taken, such as those just beyond the Marauder's initial skill pathways.

Tanky caster, eh? I had an Incinerate marauder with Arctic Armour and Molten Shell proc. The idea is to have high block chance and a Thresher Claw unique. Just stand there and melt off faces. Hardcore viable, killed merciless Dominus with it.

Go for the shockwave totems. They were pretty strong if you got totem and physical damage nodes even before the expansion.
Now they buffed it to do more damage and benefit from spell damage as well.

Best part is of course you won't cast anything and can focus on your defenses while dual totems do all the killing. You will be tanky as hell naturally from all those juicy hp and armor nodes near templar start.

You can use cast-when-damage-taken + enduring cry for more physical damage reduction or even add immortal cry to the links just to be extra safe.

Too indirect for me. I would rather leave that to my witch while the Templar should jump into the fray.

That closer to what I would like to do. How far did you get? Still got the passive build to serve as my inspiration? skill gems/gear?

Ideally I jump right in the middle of the fray, with the most mob agroed and start spamming the kind of circular AOE spells that centers on the caster. But any elemental melee is fine too.

Patch Notes are up.

At the first glance my elemental wander seems to have been smacked hard by the holy nerf hammer. Not sure if the improved wand nodes would actually compensate, too lazy to do the math right now. Also, Frenzy got nerfed, lol. That was rather uncalled for.

Going to play this when the update hits, if anyone wants to join Codex guild then add Hoaxmetal as your friend. I think both of us still need to be online for guild invite though.

I didn't try it myself.(yet) But it's easy enough to figure out, and you can simply pm me in game about the passives as you level up if you wish.

Basically, you get the dual totem keystone, stack on hp, armour, get spell/physical damage and increased aoe nodes.

As for gems you should support shockwave with faster casting, culling strike, added fire(or any +dps) and increased aoe gem. (Swap it with a Conc. effect for single-target.)

You can't be in 2 guilds at the same time, but you can temporarily leave your other guild +M

A codex guild might be fun. I'll be online tonight when the exp. is out.

Dex guild has 2 shared stash tabs open for all. I think we have ~20 people in it but I rarely see anyone playing. Expansion should bring people back.
