Picking calibers to include? (Deus Ex/Bloodline style shooter hybrid, but applicable to other RPGs)

Body armor could make things interesting. Even if it stops the bullet, I hear it hurts like a bitch. Knocks you on your ass and maybe breaks some ribs.

Lol, people fucking died, even with medical help, after unlucky shots to the armor. I knew several vets and they told me stories. Shock wave is not a laughing matter. Ruptured intestines, spleens turned to mash and so on.
Dunno about modern personal armor, though. These stories were about Soviet-Afghan war and Second Chechnya.

If it makes a pistol round feel like a sledgehammer, you can imagine what a .30 or .50 rifle round feels like. You've gotta be better off having a FMJ bullet pass through you, unless it hits bone or vitals.

I prefer not to imagine getting hit by a .50 BMG round. I don't think body armor would help much. I wonder whether anyone's ever survived that? It's probably happened somewhere, sometime.
I just looked. Lots of people have survived it. Most got shot in the gut or limbs.
