Actually depending how often you play the game and don't care about skins and other cosmetic shit, it's more cost effective to buy a season pass for 1 year and then use the accumulated renown from that for the year after that.

There's another free weekend upcoming. Apparently the new 'event' will feature aliens/zombies as enemies...

  • No sequel is planned. They literally said they were there to stay for 10 years, tho i'm not sure how literally that should be taken.

  • The active player-count is still growing, 27 million total players. (Might include people who played during free weekends)

  • 8 new operators are coming in Year 3. Goal is still hitting a 100 operators eventually.

  • Changes coming to the standard edition. You will now start with all 20 legacy (original) operators unlocked.

  • In the future all weapon attachments will be free and unlocked from the go.

  • The problem child that is starter edition will go from 4 free operators to 6.

  • They are adding new Data-centers in South Africa and South Europe.

  • Pick and Ban is coming for operators in Pro-league. Each side gets to ban 1 attacker and 1 defender for the whole map.

  • Pro-league will be 1 team attacking 5 times followed by the other team attacking 5 times.

  • They will be working hard on improving the Pro-league in general. They are first of all reworking the observation tool.

  • Some maps will be renovated and rebalanced. Bomb-mode will be the focus for map design. (Extremely good in my opinion.)

  • The map "Yacht" is coming back to casual.

  • The Map "Hereford" will be the first map to be reworked.

  • Every season (at least that is the goal. Changes will ship when ready) a map will receive a buff. Small changes that should help improve the meta on the map, mostly through improving specific objectives to make more bomb-sights viable.

  • First map to receive a buff is "Clubhouse". Bar-room and Top floor will both be buffed. They are aiming for season 2 as the goal for completion.

  • Esports is there to stay.

  • Lan-competitions will happen. Dreamhack got name dropped but didn't catch the context.

Don't know about the new operators. Looked too fantastic to me (healing spell adrenaline wtf?).

Other than that, it's nice to see the game following the path of incline. :salute:

How would that operator banning work? Just keep banning Thatcher and Thermite every game/round?

Well, yes, the business model sucks if you are into cosmetics, and that's what people are mostly crying about.

Game-wise it's probably better than ever, at least for what it is.

Unfortunately it also means that hardcore Rainbow Six with a proper SP campaign is completely dead.

Actually, what people are mostly "crying about" is that the people who bought the starter edition got fucked in the ass and that you have to grind to unlock shit like it's a Koream MMO, despite the fact that it's not a free to play game. Oh and the fact that they raised the price.

Haven't played the game since December. Having problems with the GPU, so can't play anything beyond 2006, without getting less than 30 FPS. So how's the Operation Outbreak? My collegues told it was very fun.

  • 8 new operators are coming in Year 3. Goal is still hitting a 100 operators eventually.

100!? Fucking hell! They are really trying to break the balance, aren't they? The meta and the fucking grind was already ridicolous, and they want it to get more even fucked?

The Sicilian apparently gets a hologram gadget

This game is getting into Metal Gear territory levels of technology. What's next? Stealth Camo? Ninja Sword? A dinossaur looking mech?

Outbreak is better than Terrorist hunt imo, but if you care about efficiently grinding renown or skins/trinkets, it's a massive waste of time. As it takes longer as well, playing with randoms on Higher difficulty is a pain, because people are tarded or ragequit easily and it again means that you just wasted a fucking half an hour or more.

What's ridiculous about meta?

As for technology, who cares.

Terrorist hunt is a half-baked mode that people only play for renown gained from daily and weekly challenges. Well, that and the 100 defender round chievo. :P

As for the technology, even with the vanilla ops they were edging towards sci-fi territory with things like Thatcher's EMP grenades.

My team has the sexiest and deadliest waifus you can recruit.
So we get a Mira but as attacker, and a shield op but as defender?
Should be interesting at least. Hereford rework also looks promising, biggest issue I had with it was that floors being only connected by a single staircase (with the exception of a ladder between B1 and 1F) making moving between floors as defenders (and inside attackers) very limiting
