Suggestions off the top of my head:

Space Marine
Bayonetta (Devil May Cry has a bit too many adventure elements for what you want, IMO)
Dynasty Warriors
Alien Swarm

I believe there are a good amount of 2D games like this too (Viewtiful Joe), but I never got into those.
