Just curious - exactly what security-critical financial transactions are people making via the Codex?

And if it's content of posts, how exactly do you think you'll avoid the vermin-purge on the basis of what you posted at the Codex, as opposed to the fact we've even visited this den of sin and debauchery?

The tragedy of all this is that https is so important for everyone that soon browsers made to be used by the average person will enforce it, yet the supposedly more sophisticated Codexers can't grasp why it's important, especially for a site such as this, which is more or less existing due to its tolerance for (almost) any kind of speech.

No matter what kind of script kiddie shit you do, EVERYONE between you and the end server can read EVERYTHING you send. Some ISPs like Verizon and AT&T have even special "cookies" that track you even if you use brand new browser sessions every time.

It's like every post in here is an open letter for everyone it passes through until it reaches the forum.

Dear God... it is imperative that we protect all the innocent potential victims that may become scarred for life listening in on the Codex traffic.

Oh and this.

At least read what you quote you edgy idiot. The author you link actually supports encrypted traffic. The article mentioned issues with deep linking that some websites might have, but they consider encryption so important that they even recommend a work around for websites with static links (which the Codex is not):

A proposal then is to do HTTPS everywhere in the sense of the protocol but not the URI prefix. A browser gives the secure-looking user interface message, such as displaying the server certificate holder name above the document, only when the document has been fetched in an authenticated over an encrypted channel.

Except for usernames. Those must remain anonymous by tradition.
