IIRC, many turned to her in the hope that she would at least finish up some of her father's books once he was incapable of further work due to his failing health.

She shot down that idea instantly.

So it's not all bad, but she's in the wrong field as a writer.

The story in Mirror's Edge ends up being confusing because it appears mostly as "government bad, citizens good". Basically yet another neoliberal wet dream. You're expected to listen and believe, apparently there were some riots in the past and you were involved in them (as a little kid, which was somewhat hilarious to watch). Someone died along the way, your friend got in trouble, etc. It's kept in a very light teen novel atmosphere, always. Most of the people loved the game for its gameplay though, even if it's 5 hours long.
It is a story where the villains are real estate developers and gentrification, and the heroes are young people who do parkour and graffiti and pirate radio shit. Fairly standard green progressive stuff. Tellingly, the game was made in Sweden.

(But for all that, it is pretty gud.)

Over there.
Supposedly, there's a BBC series based on the City Watch from Discworld in development hell right now. If it does go forward and she has a part in it, I swear to God if she turns a straight character gay or does some other fucked up mucking with what her dad established, I'm ...well, probably not going to do anything other than be pissed.
