Where I got it from is irrelevant. I still refuse to participate in fucking day 0 DLC bullshit :outrage:

Especially when I can avoid it without repercussions.

OMG TEH CONSPIRACY!!! HE JUST WANTS VIEWERS!!!

Angry Joe is just really unobservant and stupid. He seemingly didn't understand for a long time that you could take companions with you, that you need to combine your attackclicks instead of spamming them and that rolling towards the enemy is a dumb idea. Just listen to his commentary and it becomes obvious how little attention he pays to anything. For example Patty told him like 4 times that he is her brother until he understood it. He doesn't do it to get viewers, he does it, because he just sucks at games that are a little bit more difficult than the average. (And Risen 3 is quite easy if you just pay a little bit of attention).

The Day-0 DLC Fog Island somehow feels better than any other main game contents... some of them are still very cliche like rest of the game but the two quests about fishes and ducks really caught me off guard...

Also, I took the liberty of saving the Ris3n credits and comparing them to the ones in R1sen manual.

It certainly did explain many things.

Comparing them to the Gothic 2 manual will probably explain even more.

I think giving this one a pass was a good decision.

I might do just that. I'll only have to dig out the bawks.

EDIT: Didn't feel like diving that far for Gothic 2, so instead I checked the NotR manual.

It would appear the only people in common between that and Ris3n are a handful of artists (who in some cases no longer even do that), some programmers, and Bjorn Pankratz, who apparently assumed direct control over stuff that was previously handled by 2-3 different people.

You'd have to be pretty fucking stupid (or have a lot of spare money) to buy this game at current price without "demoing" it first. However, pirating it means you get DLC's as well!

Yes. Because 25 Euro is like the ultimate measurement for stupidity. Duuh.

In other words, I don't give a fuck if you pirate the game or not, but don't be smug about it. You stupid cunt.

Edit: And if you want to call me stupid, just do it. You don't have to write a pretentious snorting argument just for this.

Finished the game after 50+ hours as a Voodoo Pirate.

Solid game with lots of quests: 7/10 base rating

+ 1: if you are a fan of great gameworlds, exploring and secrets
- 1: if you are a fan of tactical interesting combat
+ 0.5: if you are a Gothic traditionalist
- 0.5: if you like deep interesting stories spanning over the whole game/series
+0.25: if you like crafting, alchemy, spells etc.
-0.25: if you are not into filler combat
+0.5: if you like whimsical and rough humor
-0.25: if you are not into action sequences
+0.25: if you like memorable characters

let's see - final score:

7+1-1+0.5-0.5+0.25-0.25+0.5-0.25+0.25 = 7.5 for me :)

I like that they managed to string the Gothic 1-3 into a coherent storyline about the Necromancer's struggle to end all conflicts, which ironically resulted in the premise of Risen, then they first f**ked up Risen 2 by first making the era jump and then changing protagonist in Risen 3...
Also I never get my head around the inconsistency about Titans, we have seen the fire titan and water titan in the first Risen, but Mara the Water Titan Lord does not use Water Titan, and then the baddie in Risen 3 use
Ore Titan
which overlaps with the Earth Titan in Risen 2...
Also the ending is awful, the companions talking sequence in Risen 2 is replaced by what, two seconds of cinematic murmuring?
It's like Piranha Bytes has lost their souls and become another corporate minions making the games just to ship on schedule and make a profit...

R3 is eerily similar to G3 as:
both have an open world unprecedented (compared to 1&2) that somehow has a flat challenge curve, because they want to the players to start wherever they want.
both have a narrow equipments progression, and your character's power is dominated by skills & attributes & HP upgrades instead.
It may not be true since I never finished Gothic 3 lol.

Risen 3: Titan Lords reviewed by Rock, Paper, Shotgun, with predictable results.

Snippet:

RPS said:
Worse than all of this is a particularly concentrated vein of deep-seated chauvinism that runs through the game’s entirety. The few female characters in Risen 3 either openly use sex for personal and/or financial gain or are helpless victims, with no personality beyond that, with very few exceptions. One of these is a housewife who never leaves the kitchen, and the other is the lead character’s sister, who looks like she’s just stumbled out of a Pirates of the Caribbean spoof porno.

Furthermore, the male characters demonstrate a consistent contempt for the women around them, and sadly this includes the player character too. Many a conversation involved open and crude discussion of how a woman was there purely for the sexual benefit of the men, or to make grand declarations about how all women were using sex to trick men or obtain money. At one point, the player character even exclaims “women” in sneering agreement with an NPC’s sweeping generalisations. Yeah man, women. All of them. All the same. Greedy evil whores, every last one of them, eh? LOL zomg IKR.

I’m bringing this up not to nitpick, but because Risen’s depiction of women is far more unhealthy and damaging than is a game which neglects to include female avatars or sticks ridiculous iron boob tubes on those that it does have. This is not a single scene or single problematic characterisation: it runs through the entire game, and comes up again and again. In Risen 3, there’s an endemic attitude that women are lesser, women are whores, women are to be mocked, women are not to be trusted. It’s a nasty little boy’s club that scorns anyone with a vagina.

tl;dr: Risen 3 is made of rape.

To be fair, while it doesn't warrant a mention unless you're from Raging Problematic Sexism blogs, I did notice a somewhat odd female population in R3. Not that the males are a whole lot better, but at least they're sort of more varied.
