I didn't say they were all bad, some can be enjoyable enough. This is supposed to be a list of the great crpgs of all time, though, not a collection of mediocre gaming experiences. Some of them are downright shit, such as PST (at 1st place no less), while stuff like Fallout is just OK.

I don't understand how you could have been here two years without realising that this is a Chris Avellone fan forum masquerading as a CRPG website.

Grab the Codex by the pussy Codex USB, 2014 Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
I'm not going to buy a computer and blow off my friends just to chat with mere PST fans. I'll be back in the States by the end of the month, right on time to play the next AoD update (an rpg that doesn't suck, in other words).

Finally, a point of convergence. If by AoD you mean Age of Decadence, I agree with you completely. That's an rpg I've been following for a long time and most certainly a day one purchase when it'll be released. Listen, I've got nothing against you, I thought your grudge against PS:T was fake, but now I see that your hatred is deep and motivated. I respect abysmal and justified hatred.

Great list. This list is the reason I decided to support the codex financially. I have one simple request. Get Wizardry 8 off the list. Everything you hardcore unique character development motherfuckers say may be true about this game. But it has one huge flaw. It's encounters are excrutiating. It is not a fun game to play. Combat is constant and annoying. It is so bad that it has been patched by the community to be faster. Unfortunately the random encounters have not been removed. This makes recomending this game or putting it on a list of must plays a lie. It needs to be thrown on a pile of "could have beens" Gothic 3 modders are laughing at the fact that this game is on a list in America. Wizardry 8 sucks.

Alright, you hate Wizardry 8, we get it, we got it back when you made a thread to share your opinion about it with us. I am also sure that DU is very grateful for your financial support (actually he probably doesn't give a rat's ass about you) but it so happens that you are just one random shitposter (and a newfag too), you weren't even around back when the list was created, and Wizardry 8 is not going anywhere. The methods used for determining the placement on the list were as fair and objective as possible and the result is a representation of RPG Codex user's opinions on which RPGs are the best. There is probably no single person out there who completely agrees with this list, indeed one doesn't have to look far to find users complaining about some games' positions. However, no one is going to alter that list in any way and definitely not because you think you are some sort of go-to RPG guru. It's time to stop being delusional. If you hate this list so much feel free to make you own and post it for all to see, I'm sure everybody would love to read it.

Personally I really love the list but honestly what is Morrowind doing there? How much do I have to donate to get it removed from the list?

Yeah, morrowind there is exactly like a high-school student in a gangbang scene: just standing there with a bunch of men with big d***s pretending to be a pornstar doesn't make you one.

Name a game with more attention to detail when it comes to lore and art-design, or a game with better in-game books. Go on, do it. And keep in mind in Morrowind NPCs are dressed based on their caste, wealth, cultural background and faction.

Actually, the lack of analytic observation on my part is quite detrimental to the appreciation of such fine details.

No, absolutely not. They don't typically put a lot of thought into small details like this. But I appreciate it. It reminds me of Ultima 7 in a good way.

In Fallout 1 and 2 every character is dressed based on where they are from, what faction they belong too and how wealthy/important they are in said faction. Pretty sure this is true in both Baldur's Gates. Arcanum. Plenty of others.

It's true in general for moderately thorough game studios which focus unhealtly on armor designs and such, but in Morrowind's particular case there's a 'force multiplier' from the slightly more complex than usual culture. Stuff like the ordinator armor (which is utterly impractical and probably only exists because Nevarine... maybe ... had punk tribal hair).

Did similar voting take place for console/JRPGs also? What about a combined poll for both computer/Western RPGs and console/JRPGs (or just simply, a platform-independent all-time best list of RPGs)?

An attempt was made but interest was lacking compared to the western side. Too small a sample size made averages useless.

Combining would most probably result in The codex's existing list, with a (very) few jrpgs tacked on the end.

ETA - I feel responses #2 and #4 sum up the potential problems fairly well.
