What I had in mind is that proper social security is good, but it only really works in a stable, wealthy society in which most people work hard.

You've got it all backwards, proper social security is pretty much a prerequisite for having a a stable, wealthy society in which most people work hard. Off course there are exemptions, like China and to a certain extent Japan, but that has a lot to do with culture. And I just can't imagine Chinese courtesy and Japanese working morale blossoming all over Eastern Europe and Africa all of a sudden.

If too many immigrants come and start taking advantage of the system while not contributing much to it, there will be trouble, like in France.

I'm sorry, but this is too funny. The single immigrant group (percentage wise) who abuse the Norwegian welfare system are the Poles. I'd guess that holds true for Sweden as well. Also if you compare ethnic Norwegians and immigrants who receive various social security benefits, there is about twice as many Norwegians as immigrants, who abuse the system (still percentage wise). Now there has been some extreme cases of abuse profiled in the media done by immigrants, most recently a some gypsies who had received support for, like, 50 non-existing children, but amongst the less severe cases of abuse, the severe majority of them are done by Norwegians.

I read somewhere that there are more and more immigrants from the Middle East and Northern Africa, who refuse to blend in, keep to themselves, are less productive, but take full advantage of the social security system.

Eh, I stick to people with the same interests and views as my self too, only it isn't as visible as when people with a differing skin color does it. And don't you think the refuse to blend in part could have a lot to do with, say, lackluster integration politics? (hint: it has). Again, the importance of proper social security.

So I made a guess that if this trend continues in the future Sweden might face problems similar to what is happening in France.

Sweeden has a far better social security system, as well as better integration politics, than France (or Denmark for that matter, who recently saw a French-like uproar amongst immigrants).

I generally believe that a country is like an operating system - it should be as minimal as possible, leaving citizens to tend to themselves and not handholding them.

Damn straight, dawg. Poland and the rest of the Eastern Europe rendered itself unable to have an opinion on future matters. Even if joining the West would have a negative impact in some future conflict for you, you can't choose. Wussy Eastern European countries that whined about the loss of their independence to the Soviet Union now willingly give it away. Every country is joining military operation on the other side of the world for no benefit of their own, for the government of other countries, acting like bitches, for no real reason since any war is impossible. What the fuck does Poland has to fear that it accepts foreign army in exchange for its dignity and freedom? Basically, almost every country in Europe became part of the American empire without them themselves realizing their loss of independence, something which they constantly whine about when dealing with past or looking down on other non-European countries. They could have played it cool by acting neutral and juggling the influence of East and West but instead became backwater regions meant to hinder Russia's growing power.
