It's not a console title, so you are not stuck with shit.

There aren't that many mods out there for this game, and it's not like it bothers me that much, but the above skin looks damn good.

But the game is gorgeous, I agree.

Thought I'd move onto SS 3 since I skipped it years back but this game is awful. 7 levels in and quit. Iron sights? Sprinting?! Those are bad enough. AI keeps shooting even if you're not visible, enemies are barely visible most of the time because of grimdark Call of Duty texturing, maps are incredibly drab, items are all highlighted and weapons have little kick with far too much reloading required. Popamole Sam blows, major decline from Croteam.

Isn't level 7 the time when you finally leave the stupid ruined city? Because if so, you've kind of quit when the game actually gets gud :M

The first levels are really awful, though, no arguing about that.

True, Level 7 is the first level after the Sphinx and the first level that takes place in ancient Egyptian ruins, though the downside now is that you have to deal with the space monkeys while underground.

Level 8 feels very much like the old SSam levels, with arena fights and minigun shenanigans.

Level 9 is like Level 7, except on steroids.

Level 10 is a large outdoor free-form fight - very few walls to box you in (or hide behind).

The rest is almost mindless blasting of enemy hordes - the final level alone has close to 1800 enemies by my last count.

But SSam 3 is tons easier than its prequels. I could beat it solo on Serious difficulty without much effort, while the same difficulty tears me apart in the other games. (SSam 2 not counted.)

How'd you people get so far into SS3? I think I managed to start the third level before tapping out.

Started Playing through ToEE+ and Circle of Eight recently. Having an awesome time. Excellent way to battle the immense decline of BG:SoD

Abusing that tower camp.

This fucker. He will be mine soon enough.

I played ToEE the year it came out for many an hour, but never ended up finishing it due to bugs and UI problems. It's great to have most of those problems remedied now. Yeah, the setting is about as cliche' and old-school as it gets, but it feels nice and comfy at the same time. Game is also beautiful on high resolution widescreen.

Wasn't therea dialogue check for the Ogre, just like with the bugbears? I think you have to wear the capes you find there.

Yeah, there was. I was just giving murder a shot. Got him down quite far, but he always ends up murdering one of my little adventures in one or two hits.

Will probably throw on some capes and come back at Lvl 3.

Metro 2033 Redux

So, which version is the best then? I like Redux more for a few reasons: Last Light has improved mechanics, more gun customizations and better AI overall, which are included in 2033 Redux. Character and monster models are also consistent with those found in Last Light. Also, Dead City is now a single map instead of two and D6 received a significant overhaul, making it a lot more enjoyable on Ranger Hardcore where it used to be a clusterfuck and an absolute nightmare if you were low on ammo. The most controversial changes are mostly found on the surface, where most areas are a lot brighter than in the original 2033 and less gloomy/desolate (Dead City and the Library for example). It looks gorgeous but it's not the exactly same. All in all, I'd say play both versions and see which one you prefer. Metro 2033 (and Last Light) is a great and rare example of a linear FPS done right.

Now if 4A Games made a S.T.A.L.K.E.R.-like Metro. :bounce:
