Wow. Reading through your post, it's pretty scary what can happen if you indulge too much into it.
Once again, I re-iterate. I am no expert in this. Black Cat could've clarified matters more, but I think what sets me apart from the otaku culture is that I do not spend a single real currency into this hobby. I hardly kept up to date with the paper media, preferring to just click through the online manga scanlations sites. The current crop is pretty boring though. Hardly anything but T&As. Even the fighting animes have declined. I still enjoy the odd Hajime no Ippo chapters but Bleach, Naruto is dead for 2 years and hopefully it ends this year.

As for the strange 'female' focus on Galges. Hmm. Not surprised there. No girl will buy this. I think the writer is exaggerating if it's really about the character charisma. Nobody paid to see the male protagonist cock or expressions. They just want to romance these girls. So why should effort be spared in drawing his expressions that might not fit the player anyway?

I watched Clannad a bit. I never followed the anime nor the galge. It was sappy drama stuff with odd bits of funny thrown into it. I can see how it gets very popular though - a sickly girlfriend, and several other casts. It's like being in a buffet of your favorite sweet cakes of sort.

As for the rest of the Loveplus inanity and extreme emotional engagement these dudes undertake with their machine love: I'd stop at cake.
As for touch - "Renegade interrupts" fulfill those gaps in interaction for Bioware games. But you hardly know what you're in for. Shep gave a hug to Tali at one point, while I was expecting some kind of pat to the head. It's there. Maybe in DA3 : Hug Her, Kiss Her, Pat her Head will be options on the wheel.

You mean in games where you get turned into a girl , and raped like Mikoto Sensei no Juunan or X-Change 1, 2 and 3? Yeah, right.

Yeah, I noticed. Now there's a whole forum dedicated to sarcastic quips and straw men, i.e. SA's idea of intelligent arguments.

    "this RPG Codex place"

I'd say it's all the vitriol and slurs

edit:the ones that don't have a brain shutdown by reading negativity(for example, see the guy saying that the codex thinks FFT is shit and other generalizations) will have a nigger moment the first slur or un-PC thing they see, the ones that don't mind probably lurk or post here

they see someone saying "New Game X is shit" and due to the tone of this board they(incorrectly, and stupidly) assume everyone is a "grognard" with superiority complex issues that make them refuse to play new shit games and are on the internet just to complain about things they shouldn't be complaining about

it gets even more retarded when you consider the majority of the posters here play the new shit and most people aren't immune to argumentation

but no, let's have a brainfart and say the codex is a merely a bunch of insufferable fanboys with ridiculous entitlement and behavior issues because someone there said something I didn't like bawwwww what a poo poo hole

I fucking hate the new buzzword "entitlement". Which PR monkey came up with that bullshit. What does it even mean?

Being entitled to something means "have right to something". Lawfags need to entitled to something to be able to do it. For example they aren't able to play an abandonware game because they haven't bought an original which would entitle them to play a game. And no matter how much damage to culture would cause their ignorance of their game or buying one of the few boxed copies of the game which they don't even want, they can't just download it from abandonware site and play it because they aren't "entitled" to it.

    Creepy stuff.

Generally, according to what I have learned on introduction to ethics, there are three stages in development of man:

Behavioral man, which acts on tradition and custom. Which is motivated by us/them.

Symbolic man, which acts on laws and norms. Which is motivated by trade agreements.

Conścious man who acts on will, choice and responsibility. Which is motivated by multiplication of good.

Of course later stages usually also have elements of the earlier stages. I think that those who invented the whole "entitlement" buzzword got stuck on the symbolic man phase.
Horrible creatures, I avoid them whenever I can.

Well, language manipulations are often there for certain reasons. So now being entitled to something is bad? Well, perhaps being entitled is bad in general. Just like it's bad calling people faggots, or having someone called a commie generally means speaking negatively about them. The creepy part is that some marketing group will release something like this upon the world, and the world will just eagerly lap it up, completely ignoring the entire contextual framework.

Alright, so it's bad to feel entitled to everything, sure enough. However, is it bad to feel entitled to owning a piece of software you bought? Yes, says the publisher, the software belongs to us and you signed an agreement. Yes, says the developer, we're electronic artists, and you will not own, lease, borrow or modify our artful code. Uhh kinda, says the international law, but then says that technically you can keep a reserve copy. Yes, say the sheep consumers, because those guys said so and also, why do you hate digital distribution? I don't want boxes piling up in my house where my manga magazines currently are!

    And then entitlement was bad.
