Okay, so Skyrim just go out and it's 10000/10 MAJESTIC, best game evar. But Kotaku found these five flaws that "while annoying, for the most part don't affect the overall experience":

Animation
Hair
Loading and Lag
Combat
Dragons

http://kotaku.com/5858474/five-disappoi ... s-v-skyrim

Clearly those only make it a 94/100 game.

It is official, Finland's #1 gaming magazine has been infiltrated by a Codexer.

Among other things, the Skyrim review included "majestic" and "modders will fix it".

94/100 rating, obviously.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is, in my humble opinion, a perfect game. It’s the first game in nearly 14 years as a videogame journalist I’ve ever given a perfect score to, and despite its flaws (of which there are a few),
A perfect game yet it has flaws. Contradiction much?

Yeah, that was an incredibly stupid thing to say. I wonder if his peers laughed at him.

It's difficult to master alright, because the HUD is a piece of shit.

Fuckin-A. I know game reviewers (journalists my ass) are morons, but the fact that we live in the world where a drooling moron that can't even express a coherent thought is employed as a writer, that's just fucking sad.

Only one thing comes close to the ductus of this encomium: memories of East Germany, when one of the Young Pioneers had to come to the front and say something about how great Socialism was.

The difference was that Socialism was indeed great... :smug:

Don't worry too much about the paid reviews though. In a few months ME3 will come out and be the greatest RPG ever and so on. It's fucking retarded but is the way of the world...

I'll be interested to see if Bioware can make a game worse than DA2. With their lazy paint-by-numbers approach to game design and their chubby fanboy/fangirl writing staff, I'd say it's a possibility.

Anyway I haven't played Skyrim, or read any previews or reviews, and I don't intend to. So my opinion on Skyrim is as follows: Any game designed as a successor to Oblivion is not for me.

Also, the GDR never created actual Socialism, just party-controlled state capitalism.

Is there a single review out there that actually shows a dialogue window?

EDIT: found some LP videos, the dialogue looks like Biowarian scarcity/infodumps. Writing quality is slightly better than in Derp Age.

It's all very phoned-in, but at least I am not seeing the likes of "I want to be a dragon" and "Unbelievable ! The castle has been overrun!".

I love how the first guy actually criticises the game a bit yet it's still 94/100 at the end. I would have thought 'minor' things like the combat in an RPG and dodgy broken quests would be worth more than 6 points out of 100.

No, actually it makes me fucking sick how they get away with shit like this whereas if it was Larian or CDPR or PB, they'd be buttraped and maybe get 65-70/100 at best for doing stuff that Beth and Bio get away with over and over again.
Fun fact, Dragon Age 2, Deus Ex Human Revolution and Portal 2 also got 94s from PC Gamer. I think it's fair to assume that's just the score the big publishers all pay for regardless of quality.

The interface is difficult to master...how the hell can the interface be easy to learn, difficult to master? I mean, what the hell? Is this just journalists throwing in that phrase that "hardcore" gamers like to hear so much in any way he can? He could have picked a more appropriate part of the game to lie about.

Yeah, what the hell is that all about? Why is it a good thing that an interface is difficult to master? Why is there even anything to "master" in the first place? An interface is not supposed to be a fucking challenge that you spend time "mastering". Does this airhead even know what the phrase "easy to learn, hard to master" means? Jesus. One thing is that every reviewer on earth is completely and utterly uncritical towards the game, but another thing is that these reviewers seemingly don't even bother (or lack the ability) to go through their own reviews and try to get rid of stupid errors like this before slamming their reviews on the front page. C'mon for fuck sake. Is it too much to ask for that standards be raised just marginally?

Heard the Skyrim music in a LP video. I think the translated lyrics go something like this:

What is this?
Things amiss
In my Bethesda game!

'Nother crash
Better dash
To the forums so lame!

Says the fans,
"Better thans
if from Obsidian!

Mods will fix-"
"GOATSE PICS"
Is the Codex plaaaa-AN!

Howard is a real joker of a game designer, but once again the joke is one us. Rather than being easy to learn the interface is in fact hard to learn. They have somehow managed to create an even shitter console port UI than what Oblivion's was. While navigating through the tabs within tabs was annoying (particularly before you knew what was where) it was at least easy enough to comprehend. In this new "streamlined" UI that this chump of churnalist thinks is easy to manage you now have a half baked system where the mouse is used for some things and the keyboard for others and Bethesda's 10 page joke of a manual doesn't explain anything about it.

Tab is used to access the character menu which then gives you 4 other headings (map, items, magic, skills). The mouse can be used to access these headings but not to get back to the main menu, you need to use the arrow keys to do that. Some menus allow you to do more things but use different keys, crafting needs you to click an item to work on but then to press r to craft it, reading uses e to take the book and tab to close, sometimes you need to press enter to confirm a menu choice and other times it is tab and other times it is the mouse with no fucking clue about why which applies to which. Sometimes pressing a wrong button will send you straight back to the game instead of the main menu. There is no way to see what a particular perk will do until you zoom to it and you have to click through the chain to get to it since there is no way to use the keyboard. There is also no way to get back to the main menu but to click your way back through four or five different perks if you have reached the final one (the perks are all lame too but that's beside the point).

I've only played for around two hours but so far the UI has been the worst and most distracting part. Any game review should automatically deduct ten points just for the UI. I wouldn't be surprised if even the jokers at "PC Gamer" played with an xbrick controller.

This is pretty much the most accurate description of the menu I could find. Fucking enrages me every time I have to scroll through hundreds of ingredients to find the one I never checked before.

Thing that enrages me the most though, is how the fucking childen all look the same, boy, girl, doesnt matter. First time I saw a child I thought "wow, that actually has a human-like face". Then I went to the orphanage, to see 4 children with the same face and different hair. :x

These reviews are always crazy, I usually try to ignore them. I believe it's common knowledge nowadays that the very popular reviewers are paid off. They also don't really understand how to apply criticism. You know, you can say bad things about something, and not completely hate it. It doesn't make you a 'bad, nasty man.'

That said, I have obtained the game, and I have actually been enjoying it thus far. I don't think it's a very good RPG, but it seems to work well as something else.
