This does look seriously good. HoMM 3 combat, dialogue choices, Misadventures of Flapjack-esque visuals and Lovecraftian horrors. Even the GUI is very well done. Looking forward to this and I agree with Starwars, hopefully there's a speed slider.

Slider is definitely a good idea, with the top setting skipping the animation altogether. I wouldn't choose this, but I know it's often requested in games in this format, eg. Battle Brothers.

Make the Codex Great Again! RPG Wokedex Strap Yourselves In Codex Year of the Donut Codex+ Now Streaming! Serpent in the Staglands Shadorwun: Hong Kong Divinity: Original Sin 2 BattleTech Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire Pathfinder: Kingmaker Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag. I'm very into cock and ball torture I helped put crap in Monomyth
The action menu needs a rework, it looks Planescape:Torment level painful.
Strongly agree, the horror of the radial style menu burned my eyes worse than the blood or the monsters.

But if there are keyboard shortcuts for everything all will be forgiven.

Greetings Codexians!

Character movement speed will be adjustable via the options menu and there will be a running option for your characters in the radial menu.

Awesome, though I hope there will be some sliders for movement speed.

Props for the spell animations -- those are pretty cool without being all overbearing and screen filling.

I love the art style and this is hitting all the right Lovecraftian notes and atmosphere. Yes, even the sometimes garish and lurid colors (the purple moonscape for example) - fit right in with the theme. Horror need not be monochromatic, as modern visions of it seem to think. So ignore anyone telling you you're using the wrong colors.

I can't wait to play this game. It looks so good! I think the art style and color palette are spot on: aesthetically pleasing in this strange, unsettling way. The combat looks like it will be nice (and a good homage to HoMMIII-style battles) and the exploration looks like it will be very rewarding. As far as I'm concerned this already has my money.

looks dope. animation needs speeding up (but you've addressed that) and I'm not sold on the action menu but most everything else looks p nice. general aesthetic is lovely, those spell animations look great, the changing dialogue option is well interesting. looking forward to the kickstarter.

Our old pal Scott (screeg) from the vaporware Cyclopean has joined the Stygian team:

We'd like to introduce our newest team member to you!

We are proud to say that Scott Hamm, contributor to Iron Tower Studio (Age of Decadence, Dead State) will be joining Team Cultic as a multidisciplinary specialist. Some of you may remember him from "Cyclopean", another Lovecraftian RPG project which was cancelled a couple of years ago. The dream (Or perhaps the nightmare) continues with Stygian. Welcome Scott!
You can find his interview with GameBanshee about Cyclopean below:

Wow, that's a cool surprise. Scott is a great writer, cool to see him on a Lovecraft game, especially after Cyclopean being canceled all those years ago.

I remember enjoying the Cyclopean dialogue/CYOA prototype thing. Hopefully screeg will add that type of content to the game.

Here's our "Soldier" archetype.

*The character took part as a soldier in a secret government assault to a strange coastal town. The enemy was not entirely human.
*Melee, firearms and survival skills will be able to reach the maximum level.
*A character with military background is less likely to make critical mistakes in combat and have unique dialog options with npc's from the same background.
