This is the most innovative fps game I've played in a long time.

Superhot is a FPS game where time comes to a near stop when you stop moving, and speeds up when you move or perform an action. You and the enemies die in one bullet hit or three melee hits. At first glance, I thought it was going to be boring, but the level design, number of enemies and bullets flying around means I spend most of my time in slow motion, carefully keeping myself out of the enemies LOS while smacking them down with bottles and empty guns from around the corner. There is a lot of trial and error, but nothing unfair.

I found the faux retro aesthetic to be unappealing and the story elements to be uninteresting. The game keeps booting me out to show me chatlogs when all I want to do is murder red dudes forever. There seem to be less and less "cutscenes" as the game goes on though.

My only real complaints are that it's too damn short (although endless mode with modifiers is fun) and the lack of a level Editor. Apparently that was a kickstarter stretch goal that wasn't met; what a shame.

tl;dr

This game is like max payne in reverse. it makes you feel like John Wick. It's worth the price tag

I played the game, shit is more difficult than I expected plus time doesn't actually stop when you're not moving. The fps mechanics are quite good, I would like a mode that doesn't allow you to stop time to see how long you would last without it.

there's a modifier that speeds up idle time in the mods folder that you can unlock. fasttime.mod is extremely hard though.

I played some old version and i loved it, but after seeing SuperBunnyHop review i have two worries about it:
-the "story" is superfluous
-the body switching mechanic sounds imbalanced as hell
Still on my to play list.

Map editor could potentially make this game worth the price, but it doesn't look like it is getting one. Even the reviews like SuperBunnyHop one failed to mention how much this game would have benefited from a level editor.

Definitely overpriced, and it has a 2:3 cutscene:gameplay ratio, but at least it is short. Once you beat it, you get to do the levels without all the stupid bullshit, though. The gameplay is pretty nice imho.

It's unfortunate that every level is so bite-sized though. I wonder whether the developers tried making longer levels, and if so, why they stopped. I like them as they are, but I would prefer a larger environment to complete over just ~endless mode~, you know?

You completed the game didn't you.

I also completed. And even though that first playtrough is cool (as well as the katana only), the game still needs some work. It as the potencial.

First off a level creater with a comunity where you could download other people's maps would be a damn good adition.
A crouch action would also be nice. And really they could put jsut more shit into it. A fast dodge action, more guns with diferences between them (range, bullet speed, muzzle climb, recoil, accuracy, etc.), enemies with protection (that would need you aim to the unprocted spots and waste more bullets if shoot to the protected area), grenades would be cool (to pick them in the air and throw then back to the enmies), a short teleport move (then combining with very vertical levels it would be really fun), a kick action, even a roll (where you could pick up weapons in the ground then rise and blow an enemie's head).

Because theway the game still is, as lost it's charm for me after the katana only. And the endeless mode is kind of boring. A Resident Evil Mercenaires like Mode would be more fun.

If anything it's Mirror's Edge with bullet time and without parkour moves.

As fun as the game is, the campaign is about 0.3 seconds long and Endless mode can only keep you entertained for a few hours, especially since the spawn points are crap and people routinely spawn right behind you and shoot 500 shotgun shells at you before you even realize what's happening.

Feels like a proof of concept, but a really good one. If they patch it with more weapons and maps then it'll have been worth the price.

Also not sure why there's not a map editor, there must be some reason I'm not aware of as to why there isn't one because it seems ridiculously easy to include and fanmade maps would add about a jillion hours of extra playtime.

As a side note, the replays in Endless mode are lame as shit, they feel way too slow. So all your exquisitely choreographed sick moves just end up looking dumb.

Is there some deep artistic reason behind this game's ugliness or is it just ugly because the devs are tasteless or incompetent?

Considering it has ridiculous system requirements and performance problems despite looking like this...

Game is short.

Levels are small.

Endless relies heavily on respawning behind you to keep things annoying.

Too easy to hide around a corner with a sword and just swing at everything that comes around.

Had some good fun for a while but ultimately uninstalled at that point.
