'k. I'll set it up when I get home and confirm I can connect to a server and stream.

How about CTF November?

Would also propose Lava Giant, but it's prob too big for 5v5

Another one that would be right up Codex's alley is a custom map I dloaded once called CTF Red Square. It even has one of those 'DO YOU DARE CHALLENGE XAN?' banners changed into 'DO YOU DARE CHALLENGE PUTIN?' :troll:

edit: or no, wait, red square was DM not CTF.

I hate CTF Face simply because every fucking competition I've played in used this map. I'd rather play another one.

Haha, fair enough. I've never played any comps so I still like it. I like that there's nowhere to hide. Would help the viewers see the action too.

Suggestions?

Ok the server is (partially) set up. I've installed the UT99 NewNet mod which has some lag compensation so that this is actually semi-competitive rather than just whichever team has lowest pingers wins.

One issue is that if you are using the ZRangeHack setting in your renderer (I think it's on by default), the weapon models will bug out (like part of it will be missing). Choices are to disable ZRangeHack, Play with hidden weapon model, or put up with the partial missing model.

CTF november isn't symmetrical though. And the team with a flag at the end of a sewage pipe has a way easier time defending theirs.

Why not get a custom map like this (but bigger)

This could be a 'k place to look:

I still think Lava Giant would be good. Or Eternal Cave for added lulz. Both are p. symmetrical and cool, especially love giant.

Lava Giant is 5v5 in the single player campaign. So that would work. I'm also a huge fan of maps where players can fall to their deaths.

CTF Facepalm looks good too. Island on the side mixes it up a bit and makes room for more players. And the big open area means I can hover my camera above it and catch most of the action. Any CTF map with an open courtyard ish area that sees much action would be good for streaming purposes.

As an ex-shoutcaster, first person POV is pretty much always better than overhead view or 3rd person. Something to consider when you stream it.

Here are some I thought looked decent.

CTF Diamond Sword - 8-16 players - http://www.mapraider.com/maps/unreal-tournament/capture-the-flag/617/CTF-Diamond-Sword

No one can be told what the Diamond Sword outpost is, they have to see it for themselves. Anyway this map was originally designed to 'fix' CTF-Face.

617-1.jpg

CTF Orphobeus - 6-12 players - http://www.mapraider.com/maps/unreal-tournament/capture-the-flag/206/CTF-Orphobeus

Meant to be a sort of Orbital-Phobos-Morpheus, hence the name. Winding paths connect two sets of towers.

206-1.jpg

CTF Dark Ages - 10-16 players - http://www.mapraider.com/maps/unreal-tournament/capture-the-flag/104/CTF-DarkAges

Outdoor map set in a secluded valley. Red base is an ancient/gothic castle where the Blue base is a slightly more modern fortress. Plays nicely with high player-loads.

104-1.jpg

CTF ProjectX2 - 12-16 players - http://www.mapraider.com/maps/unreal-tournament/capture-the-flag/100/CTF-ProjectX2

Warning: High polycount!

100-6-zoom.jpg

CTF Phobos][ - 8-14 players - www.mapraider.com/maps/unreal-tournament/capture-the-flag/102/CTF-Phobos][

This is a CTF based on the ever-popular and leet DM-Phobos by Inoxx. It has the same theme/atmosphere and awesome Z-axis play. You will notice the architecture from the original. (Not a conversion, made from scratch).

102-1.jpg

CTF Oblivion 12 - 8-12 players - http://www.mapraider.com/maps/unreal-tournament/capture-the-flag/131/CTF--Oblivion-12

Asymmetrical bases set in a remote location, high poly and average gameplay.

131-1.jpg

CTF LocustWind - 10-16 players - http://www.mapraider.com/maps/unreal-tournament/capture-the-flag/178/CTF-LocustWind

Abandoned futuristic viral containment facilty located in a snowy mountain range. CTF fun for 10+ players.
