- Vita is dead basically so releasing anything other than port on it is idiotic.
Hello, it's SEGA, hasn't stopped them in the past do do exactly that.

Still, there is at least one man in SEGA who is a radical thinker(by SEGA standards)... there may be hope.

Budget titles yes. But releasing VC game on Vita currently is like shoting yourself in foot. Handheld games weren't good games, nor they sold so releasing game which from getgo will be received bad by fans AND releasing it on dead system is fucked up.

Currently only reasonable handheld to release anything on is 3DS but like i said 3DS crowd is mostly DS crowd so VC games don't have any following there.

Can't wait for SEGA to finally announce the long awaited next title in the beloved Valkyria(tm) franchise, Valkyria(tm): The Azure Revolution(tm), an online competitive team-based action game with a heavy focus on objectives.

It's gonna be even better than when we got that cool new Legacy of Kain game!

It's only been announced for Japan so of course they won't announce a PC version for it in Japan since PC gaming is non existent over there. When they announce it for the West a PC version for just westerners should exist.

Uh, according to the magazine info:

Apparently not an SRPG like VC, but a JRPG
Combat is real-time with some kind of "simulation" (read: strategic/tactical) elements
Being developed by Media Vision
Release date is Winter 2016

So that all but confirms worse combat (always the case with 'normal' RPG's compared to their strategy off-shoots) and more focus on the horrible story.

Yeah but it is developed by same dudes who made VC3 and Wild Arms XF so there is a chance it won't be shit. Maybe they just want to improve VC combat where it made sense.
Also original Design Director of VC 1 is at helm here which also makes this way more probable.
Finally they will be using new rendering engine in stale of their old Canvas engine.

IMO. This will be real Valkyria Chronicles 2. They didn't want to use VC4 because VC2 has terrible fan rep and VC3 never made into non japanese markets.
With this they can forget PSP games and make proper VC games.

Only thing i am worried about is their art design. They have on board someone who made tales of games which had terrible typical animu art.

Either way to early to tell if this is legit proper VC or spinoff.

There will be demo coming out with PS4 version of it so we will know if this will be shit soon.

I don't see the point in transforming a semi popular srpg game into a jrpg game. Now the game has to compete with the likes of persona, dragon quest and other generic jrpg series, which will probably outsell it.
And even if they are banking on pc sales they are still gonna have to compete with other jrpg games on steam(which are rising in numbers).
This just seems like another brain dead sega move which will put another nail in their coffin.

An interesting detail from the VC remaster is that it will contain a demo of Azure Revolution and that SEGA will be taking feedback from people who played it.

They had a very good art style in VC 1. I don't mean the horrible white borders around the edge of the screen, or the shitty line haze on everything, but the way characters were drawn, their clothes etc. It made the game feel like one of the more mature Ghibli amines instead of made-for-TV fodder.

It would be a shame for them to throw all that away.

Is there any franchise left under sega that they HAVEN'T completely driven into the ground yet? I already see red flags for SMT with the direct sequel to SMT4 that nobody asked for (Strange Journey was and still is the unofficial SMT4).

The yakuza series is doing fine even though sega doesn't give a damn about it.
