Try to write a book without mentioning where your character came from, what's his class, family, whether he's a noble knight, a priest, a wizard, or barbarian. Some people may prefer customization over story - that's fine, but there are many franchises doing that already, TW was about good story and characters over everything else, at least CDPR understand this and don't try to change it in the middle of the series. People complaining about that may as well complain that Quake 4 will have first person view and will be about shooting stuff, or that Stephen King books are kinda scary.
