emilios right though have you seen kids and teens play games? They play games like new vegas and deus ex guns blazing killing everyone they come across with no fucks given to the story. Good story telling is hard to do in games and not even worth it like pillars of lore dump bullshit. How much writing, words and manpower does it take for that shit? too much. Legacy of kain franchise only needed 1-2 voice actors and smart narrative to btfo pillars. Nintendo games also btfo games like tides of numenera million word and pillars of lore dump. They have very simplistic stories but here is the thing you don't need 100k words in a game to tell a charming story. The games environments and music do that just fine.
Yes. Its too bad Emilio doesn't take his own advice. Every game Emilio was in charge of (Oblivion, F3, Skyrim, F4) has long unskippable intros. I just wanna make my guy and then go kill stuff freestyle. Morrowind did it that way and even Obsidian did it that way in NV.

The thing is that ultimately, Todd Howard, Bethesda and Peter Hines were proven right when it comes to PR. Only preview new content and give interviews, interact with your audience in completely controlled environments. As SJWs turned gaming journalism more and more into shit, their dismissive attitude was proven right.

DeusEx and Bloodlines are the only two games which I can recall, mixing a lot of dialogues/words with gameplay properly (no, System Shock and BioShock are not even close).

And look at the sales. DeusEx had a sort of revival with that third person console shite sequels, but even then, it died quickly with mediocre sales (thanks to greed and incompetence).

So developers who want to stay in business, focus on either gameplay with little to no words or dialogues or vice versa. Middle ground doesn't really work with most audience out there.

If any of you are dumbly optimistic like me, hopefully Witcher 3 getting all the awards that Bethesda wanted Fallout 4 to get was wake-up call for them. Hopefully it made a couple of meetings happen in their offices where they went "Shit, how did we fuck up and how do we fix it for the next titles?"
I'm sure they learned that they have to put some more effort into better graphics.

Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
Being a good marketer and enjoying the work you do are not mutually exclusive

They are in this case. To the maximum degree possible.

Todd Howard does not give a shit. At all. We all know this. We always knew this. It's as obvious as the fucking sun.

Then again, you seem to enjoy his garbage. If you can't tell his games are total shit, who can trust your opinion on anything else?

no, it's obv you're full of shit because the roi on open world first person rpgs is very low. that's why nobody else is trying to cap on the success of skyrim. if todd just wanted to make money he would avoid RPGs altogether.

fallout 4 is more of an rpg than skyrim or fallout 3. it's also in many ways a step backwards towards their pseudoroguelike origins. lots of randomized events and items, more main quest c&c (and more meaningful) than any bethesda game since Daggerfall.

Did someone say Fallout 4 is bad?

You all better retract that statement if you know what's good for you

52:45 - Todd is not interested in any genre other than RPG.
Now if someone could only explain to him what RPG means.
Ed- Someone had pointed that out already but it bears repeating. So I think I will. Again and again.

More like "not interested in any statement other than a lie".

RPG doesn't mean "Raping Past Games", Toad.

Now if only that genre was Porn, maybe he'd make a game that's decent. J/k lol, there's no such thing as a decent Bethesda game.

Yeah and I'm taking offers on the Eiffel Tower. Mint condition; serious offers only.
