The warning system used to be a valuable tool for keeping shitposters in check, it worked fine.

Great posters like MHC, SMA and others may never return after the kind of treatment they have received. I mean, it's petty, it's stupid, and it's wrong. Warning points should accrue, and after that a _temporary_ ban or watchwitz, of say a week or two should be administered so they at least know they are welcome back after they have mended their ways. Escalating if/when users continue to abuse their privileges here.

This is the way punitive measures work in civilized society. DU has called us all insane:
