There's an old article on web-design somewhere about how technically, the default internet colours should be white text on black. Your monitor is basically a light so STARING INTO A LIGHT ALL FUCKING DAY is generally a bad idea, hence use black everywhere and white for the small texty bits.

Was that the advice of a web designer or an optometrist? I find white text on black background is too high a contrast and unpleasant to read for long periods (take Iron Tower forum). The Codex's darker background-lighter text, the reduced contrast and the minimal use of colours ticks all boxes really

The greyish/blue color design with white text is not only very pleasant and easy on the eyes, but has also become a trademark of the Codex. It should never be changed.

Current color set is perfect as it is. Don't even fucking try to change anything. Add an optional preset for even darker one if you have nothing better to do.

A job requiring to stare at text editors for eight hours every day taught me two things. To keep the screen as dark as possible (sort of) and to respect all webs not trying to burn my eyes.
