MY FAVORITE ANIME IS TRIGUN

7/10. It has strength, but there's a conspicuous lack of gothic, alienation and Evanescence references. Better luck next time.

Hey Exitium, you're laying it on thick. I actually like some of the things you mentioned. Anime can actually be interesting, and usually it is better to have subtitles because most of the American voice acting SUCKS! I actually have taken Japanese as well. I took 5 semesters of it in college (language requirement for my degree).

Oh, and I've never played ChronoTrigger, but I've been told it's one of the best RPGs made on a console. Though like I said, I can't really verify that with actual gameplay experience.

So stuff it, bitch!

Little known fact: there is actually a country called Wapan in the South Pacific. The locals subsist on the indigenous pocky crop.

Some of the stuff Exit mentioned is cool, but it ALL loses points for being mentioned in the same post as Gackt.

Make no mistake, nothing Exitium mentioned in that post is cool. None of it, ever.

Exitium's post is great, expect for the learning Japanese part. I always respect people who try to learn difficult languages. But I guess the 4nim3 luvers don't usually get past only a few sentences.

Besides the Japanese, Anime lovers consist mainly of white, teenage suburbanite Americans. Also termed "Wapanese" (White + Japanese). They pick up Japanese language as a subject of study not because it is a different language, or even that it is a difficult one to pick up or even for the sake of learning it. They learn it because they're entranced by Japanese culture, and in many ways, they're ashamed of who they are and wish they were born Japanese - believing Americans (not whites per se) to be of 'inferior' culture to the Japanese. They have the belief that all Japanese people are polite and honorable, and still follow the Warrior Code, or Bushido.

They watch anime, own Japanese T-Shirts with rubbish Kanji like "Strength & Prosperity" printed on, frequent websites like J-List for Hentai and Japanese Porn that even Japanese people are afraid to watch or don't even know exist (e.g. scat), collect Japanese weaponry, especially Katanas. Some of them own life-sized Final Fantasy collectibles, and some of them go to OtakuCon and similar things to dress up as their favorite characters. This is known as 'Cosplay' (a form of LARP), and is different than dressing up for a Halloween party. Halloween party-goers don't usually LARP their costumes. They are also known to write fan-fics of their favorite characters, with crossovers from whatever other TV shows they watch. Imagine, if you will: a Stargate SG1-DragonballGT Crossover Slash Fanfic where Goku anally violates Daniel Jackson.

Besides listening to J-Rock or "Glamour Rock" like Gackt, hey also usually listen to goth metal.

Wapanese are typically Star Wars and LOTR geeks as well.
