Been playing Hollow Knight. It's a really good metroidvania mixed with a bit of Dark Souls. It's all the ingredients: hidden places you can later come back to unlock, abilities that allow you to access previously inaccessible areas, additional collectibles, bosses that can be a challenge (seriously, try Soul Master and then the Soul Tyrant...)

Started Wizardry 6.

This game's beginning would be a lot easier if it actually let my dudes start with what they are proficient in, instead of dumping a longsword on my axe fighter :x

Started playing Salt & Sanctuary a few days ago. Just beat three bosses in one session: Mad Alchemist, Kraeken Cyclops, and False Jester. +M

Chose the Knight class and am generally going for a strength build, but I reduced weight enough to be able to roll (which is even more important than in the Souls games). I've been switching between sword & shield, spear & shield, and two-handed greatsword. And I've now unlocked first-level prayers.
Did you ever find a bonfire after the first one? I remember beating the first boss and crossing 2 areas with no bonfire in sight

If you continue east from the second area into Bandit's Pass, you quickly reach another sanctuary, though it's already dedicated to Devara's Light (which is one of the options for a starting Creed, but I had chosen the Three and dedicated the first sanctuary to them). After I purchased a lantern and descended into the Village of Smiles, I soon found another sanctuary already dedicated to the Three. And I've found more since then; there seems to be one in nearly every area. The second area (Festering Banquest), where you fight the first boss (Sodden Knight), doesn't contain a sanctuary, but that's likely due to the small size of the first area (Shivering Shore). You can run quickly from the first sanctuary to the one in Bandit's Pass, once you've unlocked the path.

# The game has an in-built formula for determining whether your character is good at sex or not. This may be important to your playthrough, so let me know if you want to know more. :shittydog:

I guess it's important to Mrs. Bishop?

# You'll run into an old adversary (note: singular reference, plural entities) from Fallout 1 that somehow gained the ability to talk. Just shut up and roll with it, the argument has been done to death a billion times already.

Yeah, that was the most (or only) cringeworthy moment in the game so far.

BTW, you mentioned earlier that the car part was in Gecko? I must have missed it somehow...or does the Storage guy by some chance give you one if you pester him enough?

You can pump Mrs. Bishop for information after you're done pumping her for real. How much you can get out of her depends on how much you can put into her.

BTW, have you tried talking to the Bishop daughter?

As for the complete rundown...

The most important part of being a good (or bad) lover in Fallout is your Sex Rating (or SR):

Base Sex Rating: CH*0.5 + EN*0.25 + AG*0.13 + ST*0.12
+2 if you have the Kama Sutra perk
+2 if you have the Sexpert reputation
+1 if you have the Sex Appeal trait
All fractions of a point rounded down.

Obviously, having a high Sex Rating is good. It can be as low as 1 to as high as 15.

Sometimes, your Sex Rating is checked without your player actually having sex; your 'sex appeal', as it were. However, it is usually checked when the PC has sex. Having sex takes (1d5+3) * EN minutes, where EN is the PC's endurance.

Now, after you have sex, you are rated by the system.

Abysmal: SR 1.
Horrible: SR 2.
Bad: SR 3 or 4.
Normal: SR 5 or 6.
Good: SR 7 or 8.
Great: SR 9 or higher.

Obviously, better sex leads to better things happening. You might get more info out of Mrs. Bishop, for example, if you leave her begging for more.

In addition, after having sex, the rating of your sex is added to your Sex Level. For example, if your Sex Rating is 4, then every time you had sex, you would add 4 to your Sex Level.

Of course, this being Fallout, there are a number of sex-related traits you can get.

You may get the Sexpert trait in two ways:
1) Have a Sex Level of 100 or more; or
2) Get the Porn Star reputation.
Either will net you the precious +2 to your Sex Rating.

You can get the Gigilo trait by having your sex rated as Great at least once. See below.

Getting the Porn Star rep involves talking to the Corsican Brothers at the Golden Globes porn studio in New Reno. You must have an IN of 4 and a very high result on your 'screen test', or you must otherwise impress him (such as by being a champion boxer), in order to see your name in flickering holo-lights.

Note that gender preference, species, etc., has no influence on how your sex is rated. Note, also, that Luck has no role in getting lucky.

In the real world, Drugs are bad and wrong. They should never be done by anyone, and even 'tame' drugs make someone untrustable.

In the Fallout world, they're just another tool of the trade. Hey, trading in your life is nothing compared to the lives of your tribesmen, right?

Anyhow, here are the effects of various drugs and their affect on your ability to get the job at hand done well:

BUFFOUT: +1.25
MENTATS: +0.50
PSYCHO: +0.36
JET: +0.12

So to have Great sex, take Mentats twice and Buffouts twice. That should get you up to at least a Sex Rating of 9. Characters with a low CH may need more Mentats. (Feel free to check the math for yourself for your own character if you want to make sure, using the formula for your SR listed above.)

Yeah, that was the most (or only) cringeworthy moment in the game so far.

BTW, you mentioned earlier that the car part was in Gecko? I must have missed it somehow...or does the Storage guy by some chance give you one if you pester him enough?

I get the eerie feeling you missed a whole map in Gecko, if not two of them. Go back and check the top left of the starting map.

The top left of Gecko starting map is somehow missable. One thing to note that Gecko's surrounding is large, not just the single map with the bar.

The Den's Smitty giving you a part is a bug I think. From vanilla version. It is required that you get to Gecko to get a part that make the car run AT ALL, and back to Klamath for a part that make it run better.

You remember correctly, then you can get it stolen in reno and upgrade it a bit further.

Was this ever actually used? I know it's hooked to the dialog and scoring is run, but I remember looking it up one time and all I recall score doing was giving you the one perk that boosted your score if you had enough sex (which did nothing outside of this system and thus had no point) and the possibility to fail a check that was impossible to get to with your stats that low in the first place, but I don't know of any part of the game that it will actually impact.

Finally got Power Armour in Fallout 2, and only because I checked "Stuff" manually, instead of getting up the armour buying option via dialogue. That was rather annoying, and somewhat unintuitive, since the brahmin buggering brothers in Klamath attack you if you search their stuff.

Anyway, there is an option to harden the armour, but the geek with the knowledge resided behind the forcefields in the Hubologist HQ. I tried to stall for time, and managed to get inside a second time (first time with Power Armour, thugh), but the forcefields and AHS-7 reset to their original positions, and there seems to be no un-violent way of getting out.
I don't want to join the lunatics (after all my character has an INT of 10), but if it's the only way to get the ultimate armour it may be worth it?

Playing Dark Souls and Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne. Both have me frustrated, both for different reasons. Dark Souls, because while the checkpoint system is cool, it is also extremely inconvenient due to the placement of some of them. Nocturne, because while the Press Turn turn-based combat is cool, it is also extremely infuriating due to the importance of luck.

Well, after A LOT of frustration with the Bell Gargoyles in Dark Souls, I started upgrading my armor a bit. Got my chain equipment to +1, and the chest piece to +3. Only wore a Longsword +4 for the fight, two-handed. I almost killed one of the Gargoyles, which told me I was ready for the task, though it wasn't easy. I think I died like two more times after that, once particularly annoying since both Gargoyles ganged up on me, and another time one of them hit me and made me fly off the top of the church.

Eventually I was able to beat both in one minute and a half (1:30.76 to be precise) using the following strategy:

- Quickly rushed for the first Gargoyle, getting as close to it as I could, and moving around it while slashing its butt whenever I could.
- When the second Gargoyle appeared, I didn't pay attention to it. I sticked with my strategy even when I was getting burned by the second Gargoyle.
- When the first one was down, I had to repeatedly move away to heal with my flask because I was running low on health.
- Moving always to the right I kept avoiding the firebreath, slowly getting closer after each firebreath.
- Once I was close, I unleashed my arsenal of slashing butt moves.

And that's how I gloriously beat the Gargoyles. I don't remember having my heart pounce this heart after a boss battle in any videogame I've ever played. That said, I was level 23 for this battle... though I'd wager I should have spent more souls on equipment instead of levels.

So where to buy some ammo for Gauss weapons and Laser Rifles in Fallout 2?
I'm using mostly the 233 Pistol and H&K P90c due to best damage output compared to ammo availability, Sniper Rifles for long distances and the Solar Scorcher for sunny outdoors killing.
Cassidy gets all the shotgun shells for his H&K CAWS and Vic wields an Assault Rifle. Too bad none of them can use the P90...

San Francisco and NCR shops frequently stock Gauss Ammo. Energy ammo is pretty much available everywhere merchants are found minus Modoc and probably Klamath.

You should have summoned Sunbro Solaire for assistance.

It's also possible to summon Lautrec of Carim for that fight, but no-one wants help from Lautrec.

Killer 7 (emulated on Dolphin, no problems)
killer7_by_gil_ed.jpg

So I've known of Killer 7 for YEARS but never got around to it. Thankfully I'm one who enjoys going blind into things, and that's really what I'd recommend anyone curious about the title. Generally speaking it's like a cross between the spectacle of Takashi Mike (Ichi the Killer) and the surrealism of David Lynch. Technically, it's an on-rails adventure game where you must solve 3 puzzles to unlock access to the level's boss. You can at any time switch between 6 of the 7 assassins to solve puzzles, take out specific enemies, or just to see what their combat barks are. The combat constitues stopping your motion, taking aim and hitting weak points. The combat is merely the escalator by which you move to the next story bits. The plot is pretty incoherent, but its the style, the dialogue, the stellar soundtrack that will keep you hungry for more. The game oozes style, violence, and has some pretty despicable villains. Some cons: sometimes you may move too fast for the game to spawn its enemies and you end up meeting it face first and take the damage, one boss fight was incredibly tedious b/c the shooting is pretty mediocore, some puzzles come in the form of quizzes that would require severe backtracking. Those aside, I honestly don't have too much to complain about, considering the game feels like a rollercoaster of spectacular set pieces.

Q: This is actually my third Suda-51 title. I played the No More Heroes on the Wii and enjoyed them for being wacky, but not much more that. Are any other of Suda's games up to par?

TLDR: Spectacle action of Ichi the Killer meets the WTF of the White/Black Lodge. I can't believe I've been sleeping so much on this excellent, deranged title.

I must have had bad luck, then.

In NCR it's really only the dwarf outside in the yard that has good stuff, but in San Francisco it's two merchants on opposite sides of the starting street. They restock now and again, I think it's about every two months.

And just in case you forgot, all three of these merchants have multiple inventories, so check those tables and shelves in the stores.

Also, grab stuff from the Brotherhood of Steel in San Fran. I don't think anyone sells Pulse Rifles, but I could be wrong.

Have the Wanamingos said "G'day!" to you yet?

The wiki says Shi guards carry them, but you must kill them to take their ammo. Also the Enclave building has a lot of those.
