3, easily. Meticulous game, not one single flaw. Even the map screen was a game in itself.

3D platformers are shit tier at the actual platforming. They are more like "flatformers," running around wide expanses of ground and platforms are huge. Mario is still the best at those too, but I'll take the precision of jumping on character width blocks.

If you're thirty-two years dead like me, your answer is either Super Mario Bros. 3 or Super Mario World. (Or Super Mario 2 if you're some kind of weirdo self-cutter). I haven't even played a Mario game beyond 64.
