World of Whorecraft: Battle for Asseroth

Well, if they did bother, maybe WoW's subscription numbers would be on the incline instead of a decline, resulting in a bigger profit. Had WoW a new raid every couple of months and an expansion a year, certainly more people would be willing to play, as opposed to more than 1 year of the same current raid. And Blizzard most certainly has the resources to do this.

Yeah, and they could also make open world meaningful again, create a battleground like classic AV, remove all the idiotic handholding and add more interesting stuff for exploration. Not for achievements. Just for fun.

I dont really think so, MMO market is saturated and is on a decline because of natural causes. Before the advent of MOBAs, those people who quit WoW/LA2/Rift/TOR/etc recently used those MMOs (i'm mostly talking about PVP) as a mean to spend some free time in a semblance (or real) competetive environment. Now they have a free and less demanding alternative. As far as i know, you dont need ~30 keybinds, 15 macros and a mouse with 7 buttons to play MOBA efficienty.

PS And blizzard is just sluggishly slow in reacting to the current market trends.. they started to work on console games (aka D3) when the market was clearly going into contraction mode and decline, now they started to do their own MOBA (Heroes of storm i think?) many years after DOTA authors approached them with ideas of its commercialisation.

Yeah, this is true. Even the addons are pretty much not Blizzard's own designs but clones of other MMOs of the year. MoP is so heavily influenced by GW2 that it's not even funny.

Not everyone playing MMOs do it because of the PvP, by a large margin. Many people only raid, achievementwhore, level alts or simply dick around in MMOs, and MOBAs don't offer anything in these departments.

I'm sure they realize WoW has already passed it's zenith. They never expected it to be as huge as it became. Anything they make in the future is gravy so they're content to let it sit and rot. Stuff like Heroes of the Storm and Hearthstone are the focus now... and even then they get by hiring wet-behind-the-ear devs who work for peanuts with skeleton crews.

The problem is, where can they go from here? I never played Warcraft, but from what I can tell Vanilla, BC and WotLK all continued with storylines from Warcraft. Cataclysm had to be made up from scratch, MoP expanded more on stuff mentioned in passing and Warlords is a lazy time travel plot.

Oh sure, the Black Prince has been going all "BURNING LEGION'S TOTALLY COMING BACK YOU GUYS", but after that? The Waking of the Lich King or something like that?

While that's true, plot never matter to the vast majority of players so long as there was another gear treadmill. My biggest issue is that in making the game accessible they've pushed the two extremes -- raiding (albeit watered down) and casual daily grinding/garrisons/scenarios -- at the expense of challenging five mans. When you go so far as to create the ability to farm... a farm then you know it's creatively bankrupt.

That and entertainment-wise you can stretch that $15 per month a lot farther during Steam sales picking up multiple games to play versus grinding out the same one repetitively.

Alright, I want to go take a stab at soloing my way to Champion of the Frozen Wastes with my Death Knight. I already beat Mal'Ganis and got myself the bronze dragon mount, I still have to do the rest Are there any things I should keep in mind as I go, or is it just a matter of beating them all to a pulp?

From what I can tell The Oculus works a bit differently than the other dungeons, in that you are a forced to fight from the back of a mount that works differently than you class does. Can you solo that one, or will you be forced to team up with other people?

If I remember right, and If they didnt changed it, you cant solo the occulus. To finish there you will need the dragons and it isnt possible to do this with just one dragon. But dont take my word for it the last time I played was at the end of cataclysm.

I'm not sure about Oculus really but the mount you fly SHOULD scale with your ilevel so with higher ilevel it does more damage/has more HP

Yes, the dragons at the end scale with your gear. You're probably better off taking the red one since it has an AoE.

It's soloable on red and green drakes (just spam beam on the small drakes when they spawn and evasion on red wyrm and it's dead, keep life leeching thing up on as many drakes as possible and use damage decreasing thing on boss on cd while sitting on top of green), but it's not possible for bronze.. In fact, if you dont need the master rider (or w/e) achievement, you can just pull boss with drake, dismount and kill him manually... I did it on mage, worst class for soloing, so you can do it on DK without any hitch

Afaik they removed all mechanics from old content that needed more than one player.
In general - yes, but you still need full group for some achievements (for rhino achievement in gundrak for example, some ulduar achievements as well as "holding hands" thing on shammy boss in DS)

Alright, that sounds good. But can you do that on every boss after the first one, or do you get only one dragon per entry into the dungeon?

Only last boss is supposed to be killed on the drakes, others (drakonid guy and mage guy) - are normal fights.

The shareholder report is out for people who can read through this corporate bullshit.

Only part that the WoW forums cares about is this.

"There was a decline in subscribers quarter over quarter, which was disproportionately concentrated in the East and was similar to the seasonal decline experienced during the second quarter of 2012, prior to the launch of the most recent expansion later that year."

Why so many useless words.

"We lost subs, mainly from East like last time before new expansion hit"

Corporate speech makes my head hurt.

40 man Molten Core and Tarren Mill deathmatch? Seems like they are desperate about getting old players back.

I hope they'll make MC bosses immune to fire as before, the :butthurt: will be glourious.

My solo trip to Champion of the Frozen Wastes is going well... except for Malygos. All goes well until he rages (six minutes jesus fuck) and murders my dragon. Any hints on him?
