What's your device / control scheme for fighting games?

Most of people play them on gamepad but honesty, I can use pads only of 3D fighting games like Virtua Fighter, Tekken, Soul Calibur, Mortal Kombat vs DC/9 etc.

For 2D games, especially old MK's, any Street Fighter or KOF I just cannot used anything other than keyboard with ASDZXC + arrows scheme. I find it waaay easier, especialy with simple 'down, right' instead of that horriburu 'down, down-right, right' on analog stick. 360 degree is banal on arrows but torture on stick. Now, I've found I'm not alone, this guy does crazy combos on keyboard with ease.

So guyz, why are pads supposed to be superior? How about gamepads vs arcade sticks?

At this point I don't really hear people saying one input method is superior to any other. Usually you just play what you're comfortable with. Though since you prefer a keyboard setup, you also might like the hitbox.

I personally learned on a pad but I did try to learn stick one year. I only got decent with KoF and Injustice with it so I ended up going back to pad.
