Why do we call it 'Blob combat'

note, however, that if you didn't enjoy elminage: gothic you will not enjoy wizardry empire nor generation xth.

of the "recent" non-japanese turn-based dungeon crawlers i've enjoyed have been:

devil whiskey
sword and sorcery

i stopped playing both of them due to bad UI design however (too much over-reliance on hotkeys and mouse usage). the list of japanese dungoen crawlers is so large tho and i've been so busy translating wizardry empire 1 and elminage 2 recently i haven't even played ANYTHING at all since i started.

between my part-time job, posting shit here and translating those two games into english i haven't had time/energy to bother playing anything recent.

this has absolutely nothing to do with the thread but i'm reading a review of Batman v Supes right now this gif is just perfect for any context; like me trying to convince roqua that elminage: gothic really is worth playing haha

Blobber comes from "blob with arms and legs", which is a description of an invisible multi-limbed entity you control in first person party-based RPGs

Dictionary-worthy definition. Even as a complete newfag to codex lore, that's what I instinctively assumed blobber means.

Basically, ridiculing a game by calling it a "blobber" is similar to saying, "Turn-based combat is bad, because nobody fights in turn-based form in real life." Of course, games are supposed to be abstracted, and not at all like real life.
There are real-time "blobbers" as well.
