    Ranked pvp and endgame raiding.

The game really starts at max level, the leveling is like the character creation screen in an RPG.

Yes, end game is just a grind. A grind that is rendered obsolete every six to eight months when they release a new content (read: gear grind) patch. I actually just prefer leveling alts and doing the different instances on the way up to the cap. And, yeah, leveling is stupidly fast now. Especially for players who have those heirloom items which is gear that scales to your level (superior quality) and grants up to 35% experience gain increase depending on how many pieces you have. Then if you're in a guild that has leveling perks (a lot of these guilds will just spam invites to you) you can get another 10-20% experience gain perks. Even without all that it's still fast -- you probably don't even have to do more than 1/5th of the actual zones on the way from 1-60. Yet still some people on their forums are complaining about free 80's. It wouldn't take more than two weeks or so of 10-15 hours per week play to hit 80. And it's not like there's any big rush to get to 85 because once you're there... it's just the same waiting game for content. There hasn't been a content patch since November (I think) and there won't be another one until the next expansion comes out... and it hasn't even started Beta yet.

There really isn't much grind, unless you just got max level and need to catch up on gear for the next content.

I guess it depends what you mean by grind. To me doing raids, dungeons, and battlegrounds over and over is tedious, repetitive and boring. WoW is something I could play for a couple of weeks after every new content patch but I can't fathom how people play continuously all year round.

That's exactly how a play, and Blizzard is making my life easier each time. Some BROS and I created a very casual BR guild, just to play together, and each patch becomes easier to see everything without grinding the least. We downed Deathwing on Looking For Raid on the first weekend we tried, and 4 weeks later we downed Deathwing on normal, even before the nerfs hit. And we don't see ANY reason to keep raiding...why keep grinding for weeks just to have gear for heroics? It's the same shit, just little harder, and requiring much more gear...you do the same thing, but has to grind more...

After killing DW, we had some lot's of fun re-doing Ulduar and Icecrown with small groups, just for the lulz and to show to guys that never went there. And I did some fun low-level quests that changed with the Cataclysm patch. Now my subscription has expired, and I won't pay until Pandaria hits...probably around August. And any weak gear I still have will be replaced by the first Green iten from the first boar I will kill in the next patch anyway.

Best time I had was when BC heroics were hard (mobs that would one/two hit kill any non-tank) -- you had to use all of your class abilities to be successful not just analyze a spreadsheet and nuke away. Every time I've tried since then I get bored within said two to three week period. I enjoy the mechanics of the game tremendously (especially healing) but the content itself gets old fast.

Yeah the grind is horrible especially if you PvPd mainly like me.Every 6 months there is new gear to get and you must do exactly the same thing for it as last time and before that and before that and before that.

I got the best gear in few weeks in s1-2 cuz I made 1 of the best 5vs5s in misery(holy pala(me)+frost mage+frost mage+shadow priest+arms warr).S3:rating requirements added, same farming with a new 5vs5(i made 5s in every season and usually had a very high rated 3s too,the only thing I couldnt stomach was 2s,I dont have nerves for that shit). No prob, got all the gear in s4-5-6-7.S8 came, all new gear again, guess what I need to do to get my gear...I MUST PROVE THAT I CAN REACH 2,4K IN A BRACKET TO GET MY GEAR AND FARM ARENA EVERY WEEK FOR POINTS.RLY?I already proved a few times that I can do it so why torture me with this shit again? My guild(its main purpose was ganking all around the world so it was unique and I loved it) migrated left and right all the time so making new arena teams just to get the actual gear started to get very boring.Every time I started a new team I was forced to go through at least 100 retards from trade and durotar to make a working team...and you must do exactly the same shit for that new gear,it gets annoying after a few years srsly

Well I do admit, the life-threatening journey from Minoc to Castle Britannia was quite exhilarating... THE FIRST TIME.

Only about six or so of the WoW sub-forums don't require an active account -- and I imagine they're heavily moderated: CS, Tech, New Players, a couple others.

Every new expansion made the game more streamlined and easier. I left just before Lich King came and haven't really looked back. But in any case, Blizzard has done stunts like these every year, it's nothing new. Since there's already talk on TOR forums for server merging and with new expansion coming soon, I fail to see TOR beating WoW.

I didn't, but I do distinctly remember helping fight Thunderfury in Silithis. Man, those were good days.

I was in the fight helping our main tank getting one. I was a fire mage back then, of course.
