Savage Empire Part 4: Me Tarzan, You Jane

Worlds of Ultima: The Savage Empire

Part 4: Me Tarzan, You Jane

seavatar.png
I need release!

Don't worry. We will finally rescue Aiela.

seavatar.png
Yay!

savage0613.png

I guess this is where the half-naked woman on the cover of the manual comes from.

savage0614.png

Here is another dinosaur that kinda looks like a velociraptor.

savage0616.png

Anyway, I head back to Topuru to give him the blue stone that he will think holds his mind.

savage0617.png

seavatar.png
Sure.

savage0618.png
savage0619.png
savage0621.png

seavatar.png
You are rewarding me with turtle food?! I'm about to make some more turtle food right here!

savage0623.png

seavatar.png
Fine. What the hell.

savage0624.png

seavatar.png
I wonder if this will be important to my quest in some way.

seavatar.png
Alright, I brought your 'mind' back to you. Now, spill the beans on the Urali!

savage0626.png
savage0628.png

seavatar.png
Finally I get some straight answers out of this guy.

I now talk to him again because he did not give me the turtle food the first time; I am pretty sure this is a bug.

savage0629.png

I now look at my map and go to the only cave that fits the description.

savage0630.png

Here are some more potassium nitrate crystals.

savage0631.png

I am attacked by some cave bears. They take a chunk of HP, and I am nowhere near a friendly shaman. It looks like Triolo will have to do some field practice. I guess now is a good time to explain the magic system. As you might have guessed, magic does not play a huge role in this game. There are only nine spells to cast, and they seem to be of limited use and none of them are required to beat the game. Unlike the last several games, the Avatar is not the main spell-caster (in fact he cannot use magic at all); Triolo is. He casts spells by using a totem (i.e. skull of an animal or human) of one of the three spirits: Aphazz, Motazz or Heluzz and making an offering of either Chocolatl, Pinde or Yopo. Here is a chart that shows all the spells I can cast.
Code:
Totem/Offering Chocolatl Pinde Yopo
Heluzz Light Reveal Map	Detect Enemy
Aphazz Charm Heal Protection
Motazz Summon Animal Curse	Berserk

savage0632.png
savage0633.png

In this case, I offer Aphazz one pinde, and all injured party members regain 5-10 HP. This is not very helpful, though.

savage0634.png

I finally make it to the other side.

savage0635.png

I head east across a swamp.

savage0637.png

seavatar.png
Well, it looks like I am not going that way!

Well, the T-Rex cannot be killed (at least not before it kills me). There are several ways around it. I hear it is possible to have each party member sneak past it one at a time when it's back is turned. I never could manage it, though.

seavatar.png
Waitaminute. I just remembered I have been lugging around an extra jug of plachta.

savage0641.png
savage0642.png
savage0643.png

seavatar.png
Nighty night!

However, I may have to come back this way, and I don't have anymore plachta, so I will show you the 'intended' way to get around it.

savage0647.png

It involves using the turtle food to lure in a turtle for each party member.

savage0648.png

We all board a turtle and swim east around the peninsula.

savage0649.png

I stop off just around the bend.

savage0650.png

seavatar.png
Kiss my ass, you overgrown iguana!

savage0651.png

I walk east and come across this man.

savage0652.png
savage0653.png

seavatar.png
O...kay. Tell me your name...friend.

savage0654.png

seavatar.png
Alright. I take it you are the shaman in these parts?

savage0656.png
savage0657.png

seavatar.png
Who is Fabozz?

savage0658.png
savage0659.png

seavatar.png
What, you mean T-Rex a ways back?

savage0660.png

seavatar.png
Alright, where is Darden? I have a score to settle.

savage0662.png
savage0663.png
savage0664.png
savage0665.png
savage0666.png
savage0667.png
savage0668.png
savage0669.png
savage0670.png
savage0671.png
savage0672.png
savage0673.png

savage0676.png

Before I rush off to do that, I decide to scope out the village and get some more intel from the local populace.

savage0677.png

seavatar.png
What is your name?

savage0678.png

seavatar.png
What do you do, then?

savage0679.png

seavatar.png
Tell me about the Urali.

savage0681.png
savage0682.png

seavatar.png
Tell me about the trails.

savage0686.png

seavatar.png
I am an enemy of Darden.

savage0687.png
savage0688.png
savage0689.png
savage0690.png
savage0691.png

seavatar.png
So that is the best way to rescue his prisoner?

savage0692.png

seavatar.png
The hot chick! Duh!

savage0694.png

seavatar.png
Alright, what do you know about Fabozz?

savage0695.png
savage0696.png

seavatar.png
Tell me more about Darden.

savage0697.png
savage0698.png
savage0699.png

I decide to take Wamap's advice and free the statue first. I head north to the edge of the forest.

savage0700.png

I am stopped by guards there. They shoot poisoned darts, but apart from that, prove no trouble.

savage0702.png

The entrance to the cave where Darden stashed the great Fabozz is northwest of the village slightly to the east of the river.

savage0703.png

I head east along the southern edge of the cave.

savage0704.png
savage0705.png
savage0706.png

I have to dispatch a few more guards as well.

savage0708.png

Here is the great statue of Fabozz. The problem is it is way too big to haul out of the cave.

seavatar.png
Wait a minute! I think I remember someone saying it is powered by light or something.

There are two solutions to this problem.

savage0726.png
savage0724.png

The first involves using the flash from Jimmy's camera.

savage0725.png
savage0727.png

The second involves simply igniting a strip of magnesium found in Rafkin's lab. Whatever method is used triggers a cutscene.

savage0709.png

savage0711.png

savage0713.png
savage0716.png
savage0717.png
savage0719.png
savage0721.png
savage0723.png

With everything done here I head back to the village.

savage0728.png
savage0729.png

As promised, the guards no longer attack me.

seavatar.png
Good for them!

savage0739.png

I head south of the village hugging the mountain until I come to a mini-lake.

savage0740.png

The cave is to the east. Unfortunately, it is blocked by a waterfall.

seavatar.png
Rats!

savage0742.png

I head around the lake and find a walkway leading down to some stepping-stones.

seavatar.png
Alright!

savage0743.png

Unfortunately, one of them is askew, which means I cannot walk across them.

seavatar.png
:rage:

seavatar.png
I give up. Let's head back. Poontang is not worth this much trouble.

Sorry, we have to rescue her to beat the game. However, I have another idea.

savage0745.png

I use some spare turtle bait and grab me another turtle. If I hug the edges of the river, my party members will somehow be able to follow along.

savage0746.png
savage0747.png
savage0748.png

seavatar.png
Yeah! I made it!

savage0750.png

While I cannot hop across a diagonal stone, my AI-controlled party members have no trouble. Now, let's enter the cave.

savage0751.png

seavatar.png
Uh oh! Door guards!

savage0752.png

seavatar.png
Whew!

I head north.

savage0753.png

Here she is!

savage0754.png
savage0755.png

seavatar.png
Oh I'm cumming ... er coming alright.

I open the (unlocked ) door to her cell.

savage0756.png

savage0758.png

savage0760.png

savage0762.png

savage0763.png

savage0764.png

seavatar.png
It's onnnnn!

savage0767.png

Darden's men do not like him anymore, so it is a pretty one-sided battle.

savage0768.png
savage0769.png

seavatar.png
You got served!

With Darden dead, it is time to talk to our 'honey.'

savage0772.png

seavatar.png
Who is Elzair? Oh right. That's my name.

savage0773.png

seavatar.png
What will you do ... besides me?

savage0774.png

seavatar.png
Oh yeah, those Myrmidex sure are annoying little bastards, aren't they?

savage0775.png

seavatar.png
What is this about uniting all the tribes?

savage0776.png
savage0777.png
savage0778.png

seavatar.png
Okay! Sure!

It is now our job to make a bunch of savage, warring, ethnic tribes unite into some kind of coalition capable of launching a direct assault on the home base (er nest) of insectoid super-warriors ... all because a hot piece of ass asked us to.

Sometimes, Savage Empire is a really realistic game!

Anyway, we have some Choices and Consequences coming up. It turns out that this game has three separate endings depending on whether or not the Avatar romanced Aiela, Tristia or neither. Which path should I take?

Part 5: Gee, Johann, What Do You Want To Do Tonight?

Worlds of Ultima: The Savage Empire

Part 5: Gee, Johann, What Do You Want To Do Tonight?

Alright, last time I rescued the jungle princess and all-around hot babe Aiela from the clutches of her idiotic suitor Darden. Now, I have made a promise to unite all the tribes of the Eodon valley into a force capable of annihilating the Myrmidex. You heard right; there will not be any hippy "noble savage" bullshit this time! This is the law of the jungle baby!

savage0779.png

I use my last piece of turtle bait to get back to the other side of the river. I then head back to the main valley.

savage0780.png

On the way back I find Wamap wandering in his usual spot.

savage0781.png

seavatar.png
Well, the Urali are now on board!

savage0782.png

The great Fabozz has made the T-Rex as harmless as a kitten.

savage0783.png

I head back through the cave. On the way, I stop in the Yolaru village to ask for their help.

savage0785.png

seavatar.png
So, how's about joining my alliance against the Myrmidex?

savage0789.png

seavatar.png
Uh huh!

savage0790.png

seavatar.png
Did you not understand what I was saying, stupid darkie? I want to form an alliance to crush the Myrmidex? Have you snorted too much crack today?

savage0791.png
savage0792.png
savage0793.png
savage0795.png

I will get to that, but first I head back to the Kurak tribe to show who I rescued.

savage0797.png

I talk to chief Aloron.

savage0798.png

seavatar.png
So, now that I have rescued your daughter, will you join my anti-Myrmidex coalition?

savage0799.png

seavatar.png
That is what I just said!

sealoron.png
Well, you still need to make a big drum.

seavatar.png
:rage:

savage0800.png

I now head for the cave of the Haakur people. They are neanderthals that live northeast of the Jukari.

savage0801.png

seavatar.png
They sure are ugly!

I find one of their warriors.

savage0803.png

seavatar.png
What is your name?

savage0804.png

seavatar.png
What do you do?

savage0805.png
savage0806.png

seavatar.png
Who is Dok-ray?

savage0807.png

Hmm. It sounds like Dokray is this world's rip-off of the paladin Dupre.

savage0808.png
savage0809.png

Finally, I find the chief.

savage0810.png

seavatar.png
What is your name?

savage0811.png

seavatar.png
What do you do?

savage0812.png

seavatar.png
Will you help me fight the giant bugs?

savage0819.png
savage0820.png

seavatar.png
Where can I find the spiders?

savage0813.png
savage0814.png

seavatar.png
Who was Krukk?

savage0816.png

seavatar.png
How can I cut the webs?

savage0815.png

I find torches in the villages.

savage1248.png
savage1249.png

I can also make them by wrapping a tarred strip of cloth around a tree branch.

savage0822.png

I head southeast to the spider cave.

savage0823.png

I swat the bug ... er, arachnid.

savage0824.png

seavatar.png
Shit! The way is blocked!

savage0825.png
savage0826.png

seaiela.png
Not anymore!

seavatar.png
Damn! Hot and resourceful! I like that in a woman.

savage0829.png

This little hole is the main entrance to the Myrmidex caves. Since I do not want to waste my torches, I ask Triolo to offer a pende to Motazz for a peep at my surroundings.

savage0830.png

seavatar.png
Damn! I have a lot more to go!

savage0831.png

seavatar.png
However, it gets done.

savage0832.png

I find Krukk's shield in the northern part of the cave. I return to Grugorr.

savage0833.png

seavatar.png
Yep.

He now agrees to join my alliance. I now head to Tichticatl, the city of the Aztec-like Nahuatla, to get some weapons for the Yolaru and see if I can find a way to restore Moctapotl to his throne.

savage0835.png
savage0836.png

I can find several obsidian weapons in various houses. To get more I can search around more or go to the weaponsmith. First, I will talk to Generic Nahuatla Woman.

savage0837.png
savage0838.png

seavatar.png
What kind of crafts do you make?

savage0839.png

seavatar.png
How do you make pots?

savage0840.png

seavatar.png
Where do you get the clay?

savage0841.png

seavatar.png
What weapons do you make?

savage0842.png

seavatar.png
Where is the weaver?

savage0843.png

I end up wandering into his shop.

savage0845.png

seavatar.png
Where do you get all this cloth?

savage0846.png

seavatar.png
Interesting. Are you willing to trade?

savage0847.png

seavatar.png
Where do you find feathers?

savage0848.png

He then tells me he will trade emeralds for a bunch of parrot feathers. Anyway, I soon find the weaponsmith.

savage0849.png
savage0850.png

seavatar.png
Swords interest me.

savage0851.png

seavatar.png
I want four swords.

savage0852.png

I now wander to the south of the city.

savage0853.png

These two guards attacked me on sight, so they had to pay the price.

savage0854.png

I now decide to seek an audience with the king, Huitlapacti, and his mysterious adviser Zipactriotl.

savage0864.png

When I enter the throne room I am approached by a parrot.

savage0855.png

seavatar.png
Hello, pretty birdy, what is your name?

savage0856.png

seavatar.png
Do you eat crackers all day?

savage1230.png

seavatar.png
Wait, who is driving whom mad?

savage1232.png
savage0857.png

seavatar.png
Who is Johann Spector?

savage0865.png
savage0866.png

seavatar.png
So ol' Zipactriotl is actually Johann Spector, eh? That explains a lot. What did you say about a city?

savage0858.png
savage0860.png

seavatar.png
Who is this Fritz he keeps mentioning?

savage0862.png

seavatar.png
What is Dr. Spector planning?

savage0863.png

seavatar.png
Goddamnit! Another one of those.

savage0867.png

Anyway, we might as well seek an audience with this Zipactriotl.

savage0868.png

First, we can loot the armory for more obsidian weapons. :)

savage0869.png

savage0870.png

savage0871.png

savage0872.png

seavatar.png
Not really.

savage0873.png

seavatar.png
Just who are you, anyway?

savage0874.png

seavatar.png
What are you doing here, anyway?

savage0875.png
savage0876.png

seavatar.png
You are the shaman?

savage0877.png

seavatar.png
Where did you put Oaxtepac?

savage0878.png
savage1234.png

Oops! I reload.

seavatar.png
Tell me about the Nahuatla.

savage0879.png

seavatar.png
May I speak to Huitlapacti?

savage0880.png

seavatar.png
Fuck that! Alright, what are your so-called 'plans for paradise?'

savage0881.png

seavatar.png
Yes.

savage1233.png
savage0882.png
savage0883.png
savage0884.png
savage0885.png

savage0891.png
savage0892.png
savage0893.png
savage0894.png
savage0896.png
savage0897.png

seavatar.png
Can we get rid of the n*****s?

sespector.png
No.

seavatar.png
Alright, then I think you have ingested one two many bright green glowing rocks.

savage0898.png
savage0899.png

seavatar.png
Alright. Later!

I now talk to Huitlapacti.

savage0900.png

seavatar.png
Shit!

seavatar.png
Alright, Spector, please, please, please allow me to speak with Huitlapacti.

savage0901.png

savage0902.png

seavatar.png
I would know the name of such a mighty figure!

savage0903.png
savage0904.png

seavatar.png
What is the purpose of such a great figure?

savage0905.png

seavatar.png
Farewell, O great one!

savage0906.png
savage1235.png

Shit! I have to reload again!

savage0907.png

In retaliation, I am going to loot their treasure room.

savage0908.png

seavatar.png
Weird. I hope it is valuable in some way!

savage0923.png

I now head outside and to the prison to speak with Oaxtepac.

savage0924.png

He is in the northeast cell.

savage0925.png
savage0926.png

seavatar.png
Who are you?

savage0927.png

seavatar.png
What are you doing here?

savage0928.png
savage1236.png

seavatar.png
What do you know about Moctapotl?

savage0929.png
savage0930.png
savage0931.png

seavatar.png
What do you know about a hidden city?

savage0932.png
savage0933.png
savage0934.png

seavatar.png
Yes!

savage0936.png
savage0937.png
savage0938.png
savage0939.png
savage0940.png
savage0941.png

seavatar.png
Where can I find this head?

savage0942.png
savage1237.png
savage1239.png

seavatar.png
Who is this Fritz character I keep hearing about?

savage0943.png

seavatar.png
Where can I find the gem?

savage0944.png

seaiela.png
I have the gem. Darden gave it to me, trying to buy my love. Darden did not know Aiela could never love such a cruel man.

seoaxtepac.png
I see. Please, keep the gem. I have no use for it.

I now head north to Pindiro territory since they are the last tribe on my list. I also remember a Barrako person telling me someone named Fritz can be found in the northeast corner of the valley.

savage1134.png

On the way I stop by the Yolaru to deliver the weapons the chief wanted.

seavatar.png
Now will you join up?

savage1139.png

seavatar.png
Yes.

savage1140.png
savage1141.png

Alright, we have the niggers on board. Now let's find the Pindiro.

savage0950.png

seavatar.png
Tell me about this other stranger.

savage0951.png
savage0952.png

seavatar.png
That sounds like Fritz!

seavatar.png
BTW, who am I addressing?

savage0953.png

seavatar.png
Cool, tell me about your tribe.

savage0954.png

seavatar.png
Would you be willing to join an alliance against the Myrmidex?

savage0955.png
savage0956.png
savage0957.png

savage0958.png

savage0960.png

I now find this strange man wandering around the village at night.

savage0961.png

seavatar.png
You look familiar, savage, what is your name?

savage0962.png

seavatar.png
Arrrrggggghhhh!

seavatar.png
*deep breath* What do you do?

savage0963.png

seavatar.png
What do you know about the Myrmidex?

savage0964.png

seavatar.png
Can you help me unite the tribes?

savage0965.png

seavatar.png
Will you join with me?

savage0966.png

seavatar.png
:rage:

savage0967.png

Alright, I finally find Fritz's cave.

savage0968.png

A boulder is blocking access to part of the cave.

savage0974.png

I find some more bullets for the modern rifle.

savage0975.png

I now speak to ol' Fritz.

savage0976.png

seavatar.png
Who are you?

savage0977.png

seavatar.png
What do you do?

savage0978.png
savage0979.png

seavatar.png
What do you know about Spector?

savage0980.png

seavatar.png
How is this your fault?

savage0989.png
savage0990.png
savage0991.png

seavatar.png
You said you have some ammunition here?

savage0992.png

seavatar.png
May I see the crystal brain?

savage0993.png
savage0994.png

seavatar.png
What about the head?

savage0995.png

seavatar.png
It must be the metal head I found in Spector's treasure room!

Good, but we will have to wait until next time to use it.

In the interest of being complete, I'd like to see each of the endings. I thought there was just only one.

Savage Empire Part 6: Kingdom of the Crystal Brains

Worlds of Ultima: The Savage Empire

Part 6: Kingdom of the Crystal Brains

It is now time to find the lost city of the Kotl. They were the lizard race that seem to have created this valley of anachronisms.

I teleport to the Barrab village and head north to the Great Mesa.

savage0996.png

The gem-holder is at the far north tip of the Great Mesa. I insert Aiela's gem.

savage0997.png

savage0998.png

savage0999.png

seavatar.png
Cool!

I head back to the Barrab village and teleport to the teleporter hub.

savage1003.png

The entrance to the Kotl city is located a short distance southeast of the hub. I head down.

savage1005.png

There is no way to go and nothing here except for two statues: one metallic and one gold and headless.

savage1006.png

I put the metal head back on the gold statue. It then speaks to me. It's name is Yunapotli BTW.

savage1009.png

savage1010.png

savage1011.png

seavatar.png
What do you know about this city?

savage1012.png

seavatar.png
What do you know about the human inhabitants of this valley?

savage1013.png

seavatar.png
Who is Katalkotl?

savage1014.png

seavatar.png
What do you know about the Kotl in general?

savage1015.png
savage1016.png

seavatar.png
You said they left?!

savage1017.png
savage1018.png
savage1020.png

seavatar.png
What do you know about the Myrmidex?

savage1021.png

seavatar.png
Doesn't this city have a generator of some kind?

savage1022.png

Alright. It is now time to get these doors open.

savage1023.png
savage1024.png

seavatar.png
He should be handy to have around.

sekotl.png

Here is a map of the Kotl city. The letters indicate the presence of a two-way teleporter. I head up to the teleporter hub.

savage1025.png

I speak to the Kotl nearby.

savage1026.png

seavatar.png
What is your name?

savage1028.png

seavatar.png
There is no way you can still be alive!

savage1029.png
savage1030.png

seavatar.png
So, Katlalkotl, what do you do here?

savage1035.png

savage1031.png
savage1032.png

savage1033.png

seavatar.png
So, you're a story teller, eh? Tell me about the other strangers.

savage1034.png

He is talking about Johann Spector.

seavatar.png
Tell me about the Kotl.

savage1036.png

seavatar.png
Yes.

savage1037.png
savage1039.png
savage1040.png
savage1041.png
savage1042.png
savage1043.png
savage1044.png
savage1045.png

seavatar.png
Tell me more about the Myrmidex.

savage1046.png

He then tells an abbreviated version of the tale he told above and then tells about how the Kotl travelled throughout the outer world and recruited humans to come back and work in the Kotl city. I guess this explains the diversity of cultures in Eodon and how they all have the same language.

savage1047.png
savage1048.png
savage1049.png

seavatar.png
Tell me more about the automatons.

savage1050.png

seavatar.png
Tell me how to find the generator.

savage1051.png
savage1052.png
savage1053.png

Basically, the teleport pad that leads to the generator room is found on the K in the south part of the map above. I now explore the north part of the city.

savage1054.png

Just because the city has been abandoned does not mean it is deserted. Robot guards are still operational.

savage1058.png

These musical instruments do not do anything useful.

savage1059.png

I head to the nearby teleport pad H.

savage1060.png

It takes me to the locked-up building south of my former position.

savage1061.png

seavatar.png
Rats!

savage1062.png

I now head back to the teleport pad and take teleporter D.

savage1063.png

This warps me to the east corner of the map. It looks like the generator is a straight-shot south.

savage1064.png

seavatar.png
Whoever heard of robotic dinosaurs?!

savage1066.png

seavatar.png
Do you really expect me to walk over that?

It is actually perfectly safe.

savage1067.png

seavatar.png
It looks like my way is blocked by an invincible person.

seavatar.png
I wonder who he is.

savage1068.png

seavatar.png
... I am not even going to ask how this guy can be in two places at once.

seavatar.png
What do you mean your underground city?

savage1069.png
savage1070.png
savage1071.png

seavatar.png
Yeah, yeah. I have heard about your 'plan' before. Spare me.

It looks like I am not getting past him. I guess I need to find another way in.

savage1072.png

I head back to the teleport hub and take teleporter G.

savage1073.png

seavatar.png
What a strange machine!

savage1074.png
savage1075.png

This is just too fucking stupid. There is no way a piece of fruit could be worth nearly as much as a fucking emerald! Origin must have realized how stupid this is because the cluebook says, "this seems to be a case of incredible inflation, but maybe the Kotl had a lot of emeralds." Then why don't you see more around? There is just no fucking way the Kotl could have enough emeralds to make their value equivalent to that of a piece of fruit (that grows in the fucking city itself)! The inflation argument is complete bullshit because you cannot diminish the value of emeralds by any means other than finding more emeralds!

:rage:

I now head back to the teleport hub and head west to where a battle between Kotl and Myrmidex took place long ago. I then remember that I have not given Yunapotli back his crystal brain.

savage1093.png

seavatar.png
Alright. Tell me about all the cool devices the Kotl built.

savage1094.png

seavatar.png
Tell me about the weapons they made.

savage1097.png

seavatar.png
Alright, tell me about the armor the Kotl made.

savage1098.png

seavatar.png
You mentioned a locator device. What is that?

savage1099.png

This is one of the bug bombs he mentioned. There are several of them scattered about.

savage1091.png

There is also a functional Kotl shield (i.e. the best shield in the game) nearby as well.

savage1092.png

In the Myrmidex pen is a fully functional black staff. It shoots an infinite-use projectile that kills Myrmidex dead.

savage1078.png

I then head for the northeast corner of the Kotl city and take the I teleport pad.

savage1081.png

This warps me to the Time-Stop room where I grab another black staff, several bug bombs, another Kotl shield, and the 'locator device' Yunapotli mentioned.

savage1085.png

I now take the J teleporter and head to the 3 on the map, which was the infirmary. These white crystals will restore a person to full health.

savage1086.png

I now head for the K teleport pad. It is just south of the larger K in the middle of the large room due west of the generator room. Since there are plenty of robo-dinosaurs around, I send Yunapotli alone east to the control panel for the field generator.

savage1104.png

Yunapotli then attacks it with his bare hands!

savage1105.png

savage1106.png

savage1107.png

savage1108.png

savage1109.png

savage1111.png

savage1112.png

savage1114.png

savage1116.png

savage1118.png

savage1119.png

savage1120.png

The nutcase automatically joins my party.

savage1121.png

I grab everything Yunapotli was carrying and head north across the lava flow.

savage1123.png

I make it to the stairs in the nick of time.

savage1124.png
savage1125.png

seavatar.png
Whew! We made it!

Alright, I will finish-up next time!

Poor Yunapotli! I do believe it is intended to rescue Aiela first before uniting the tribes. It may explain bugs you ran into.

That idea is retarded! Fire extinguishers work by eliminating a fire's oxygen supply. They will do nothing to cool molten rock!

Not all fire extinguishers work by eliminating a fire's oxygen supply. I don't know what kind of fire extinguisher has the capacity to cool and harder lava, but there are types that work by lowering temperature (water and water chemical)

savage0648.png

That is the dumbest thing I've ever seen.

savage0756.png

Thongs indeed.

Fact: primitive women were recognizable mostly due to their shaved legs.

Also also, didn't neanderthals have bigger brains than sapiens?

Equal brain size or larger, I believe. I've heard at least a couple of reports putting forth the notion that the reason our brains are as large as they are is because our ancestors bred with Neanderthals. Of course, I'm not sure they knew or suspected this back in 1990.

[EDIT: I dug around for a bit (not very thoroughly by any means), and can't seem to find any reference to Neanderthal brains being larger or equal to ours from before 1994. Looks like this might be a case of outdated scientific facts to work with.

Also, apparently Neanderthals couldn't actually pronounce quite a bit of the vowels and consonants that we could and wouldn't really be able to speak our language at all.

Oh well, whatever. I've seen far less fun games than this make even stupider breaches of science and common sense. Savage Empire earns my approval regardless of its failings in understanding primitive hominids.]

Savage Empire Part 7: It Came from the Jungle

Worlds of Ultima: The Savage Empire

Part 7: It Came from the Jungle

It is now time to end the Myrmidex threat once and for all! However, there are a few loose ends to tie-up.

I first head to the Tichticatl throne room to see who is in charge now that the force field generators are down.

savage1128.png

It turns out to be my old friend Moctapotl.

seavatar.png
So, what are you up to these days?

savage1129.png

seavatar.png
Cool! Will you now join my alliance against the Myrmidex?

savage1130.png
savage1131.png
savage1132.png
savage1133.png

First, let's see if we can find the old village of the Pindiro. I head to the northwest part of the map.

savage1251.png

Eventually, I find a ledge, but there is no way across. I see the tree, but I cannot reach it to chop it down. I wonder if there is any other way to cut down a tree?

savage1252.png

seavatar.png
I hope this works.

savage1253.png
savage1254.png
savage1255.png

seavatar.png
Hooray!

I continue along the path.

savage1256.png

seavatar.png
There sure are a lot of Myrmidex around here?

savage1257.png

seavatar.png
I guess that is why!

savage1259.png
savage1260.png

I find a lone man in modern garb fetching water from a pond.

savage1261.png

seavatar.png
Who are you?

savage1262.png

seavatar.png
Segallion?! What are you doing here?

savage1263.png

seavatar.png
Why are you searching for diamonds in Eodon?

savage1264.png

seavatar.png
Damnit!

Well, that was certainly a weird encounter. Now, let's seek out the Wisp.

NOTE: I could never find any Xorinite Wisps. I hear there is one that supposedly hangs out in the northern section of the Kotl city and another than hangs out in the Urali swamp, but I could never find either, so I just ripped the dialogue from this site

You see a strange, floating ball of glowing light.

sewisp.png
Once more 'you' of Earth address 'I' of the Xorinite dimension. At this progression point in the temporal continuity, how do 'you' wish to be addressed?

seavatar.png
Elzair.

sewisp.png
'Elzair'. A series of vocal sounds serving as a temporary referent for 'you'. Very well. Does 'Avatar' recall previous conversations with 'me'?

seavatar.png
Yes.

sewisp.png
Excellent. This obviates the need for reiteration of previous declarations of origin, intent and activity. What shall 'we' speak of?

seavatar.png
What information are you gathering?

sewisp.png
Xorinia acts as a conduit for information between different continua, planes, dimensions. Xorinia also retains information which will improve Xorinia. The manifestation in proximity of 'Elzair' is at location 'here-now' to observe new anomalies.

seavatar.png
What anomalies?

sewisp.png
The geographical superset commonly referred to by its local bipedal manifestation as 'valley' and 'Eodon' and 'here' is a source of energy stress. A power of significant magnitude exerts considerable distorting influence on this space-time region. Analysis of the situation indicates that at some temporal point in the 'past' an energy source bearing Britannian vocal referent 'moonstone' embedded itself in this proximity. Modification of the energies of said 'moonstone' have resulted in the geographical superset 'here-now' 'Eodon' 'Valley' being placed outside the normal space-time continuum. Life units which in other 'here-now' positions have ceased to manifest on both the individual and collective bases have adapted to the distortion by continuing to exist in both individual and collective senses. Continuing stress in the space-time continuum by the damaged 'moonstone' has resulted in scattering of small but volatile distortions all through the space-time continuum.

seavatar.png
Do you know much about the power of the moonstone?

sewisp.png
Object containing the distortion energy is similar to objects which are called 'moonstones' in the dimension 'Britannia.' This one has been subtly altered, and differs from other examples of its type in ways your language has now words for. Vocal interpretations of its physical state of being result in the words 'black' and 'stone'. Amounts of power indicated that the referent 'large' or 'enormous' should be appended.

seavatar.png
How was it modified?

sewisp.png
Available data indicate that life-forms studying the power source 'moonstone' enacted energies upon it, modifying it beyond its original scope. These modifications have resulted in distortions to the space-time continuum.

seavatar.png
Explain the nature of the distortions.

sewisp.png
Stresses from power source called 'moonstone' exert tremendous influence on the space-time continuum. This results in ripples and holes in the continuum. This can create temporary points of intersection between space-time points -- that us, 'places' -- which should customarily enjoy no contact. Left uncorrected, this situation can permanently distort and blend space-time regions, perhaps destroying them.

seavatar.png
The moonstone can destroy space-time?! Incredible!

sewisp.png
Unchecked emission of energies from power-source 'moonstone' can result in blending, blurring, and ultimately destruction of large regions of the multiverse.

seavatar.png
What do you mean by the multiverse?

sewisp.png
'Multiverse' is a word-referent of your life-form; it signifies all reality in all universes.

seavatar.png
Alright. Goodbye.

sewisp.png
It is redundant for 'you' to make notification of 'your' intent to move to different spacial points. A short trip forward on the time continuum reveals that intent much more precisely. However, in the manner of 'your' life-form: 'Good-bye.' The information 'I' have just given 'you' can be considered a free sample. If 'you' offer 'me' valuable information at a point further along the time continuum, 'I' will present 'you' with information of true value.

Now all I need to do is construct the great drum. To do that, I need to bring Tuomaxx, the guy on the Hill of the Drum, several hides.

savage1142.png

Hides are easy to find in villages. I think I can also skin some animals for hides as well.

savage1143.png

I now return to Tuomaxx.

savage1144.png

seavatar.png
Yes.

savage1145.png
savage1146.png

I now have everything I need to fight the Myrmidex. Since this is it, I might as well tell Aiela how I feel about her.

seavatar.png
Aiela, I love you.

savage1209.png

seavatar.png
Yes, it is true.

We are finally at the end of the game.

semyrmidexcaves.png

As you can see, the Myrmidex caves are little more than a series of winding passages with Myrmidex encounters. I could have come here earlier, but the Myrmidex encounters would have been much more frequent. The tribesmen manage to draw-out the majority of the bugs. I start at the 5 in the southeast corner, and I need to make my way to where the solid line is pointing. I will not even try to describe my route through this place. Here are just some pictures of my journey.

Congratulations, good sir.

savage1274.png

Man, you'd think by now the Avatar would've learned not to shatter powerful, corrupted magical artifacts into shards. He could've just created a million Shadowlords!

Does the ending to Savage Empire lead directly into Martian Dreams, or are they mostly disconnected?
