A heavily armed alien walks straight past Undead Phoenix, without spotting him.

I may not be brave, strong, or particulary good at shooting, but I brushed up on my stealth skills at Alpha Protocol :smug:

goodlittletoastboy's pulser blows off, and kills our three soldiers, while leaving the aquatoid unharmed.
RIP goodlittletoastboy , you tried to fix your mistake instead of running away. Brave, but foolish.
RIP Stereotypical Villain , you were too tired to take another step, and that cost you your life.
RIP Edward R Murrow , you were there to provide covering fire, and paid the price for your bravery.

Azira is handed a grenade that he lands at the alien's feet.

Azira IV is doing quite good. A second kill for him.

An incarnation of mine doing well with grenades? Let's hope he's not as MC susceptible as the previous incarnation.. :smug:

Much  for this thread.

That was a rather... bad grenade. But still I find it hilarious that despite losing 4 men this mission was a huge financial success. X-COM never change please.

An alien hidden in one of the little alcoves draws first blood by shooting down dextermorgan II.

Serves him right. Comrades punch a hole in the wall so he can circle the enemy and instead of going around he goes straight for the alcove anyway. :salute:

Anyhow, Dextermorgan II's long lost sibling Vlad The Impaler (this is a good natured nickname, he's not the actual count Vlad Dracula obviously) reports in with a burning desire to thrust his fangs punch some vibroblades through alien squishy bits.

Time for eklektyk to suffer an unfortunate accident
well, you are rising through the ranks by treachery and backstabbing but Beware! thou shalt fall so as thou riseth. Just wait for the rightful vengeance.

I live and serve only to kill Aliens! [and ocasional traitor&heretic&slacker&funylokingdude]
:salute:

May God Of War gives Us many more months of this Glorious Raep to come...

ps. was shocked to discover that I yet live - I sense many more good oportunities to empty sonic cannon clip on some tasty targets

Our three bases are Atlantic-1, in the middle of the North Atlantic, Pacific-1 in the South Pacific near Antarctic and China-1 in the South China Sea. Each has a Barracuda and a wide array sonar to provide maximum coverage for detection and interception.

It's unlikely eklektyk will die anytime soon. He's the highest ranking officer so will always be the last person sent into danger, because we all saw what a morale failure can lead to in Lobster Slaughter. He also has proven quite resilient to M.C. attacks, as he has never been targeted once. His long standing tradition of shooting aquanauts in the back hasn't yet come to an end...

UPDATE 17 - Research and Production

Zc2HC.png

The Triton makes it to the small sub in due time, at dawn.

pKbmk.png

Undead Phoenix discovers our enemies for the day. Aquatoids, once again.

xeoXw.png

A well place pulser takes care of this one.

rbQXf.png

Another alien is discovered soon after.

cwleE.png

It is dealt with in a similar fashion.

jgBz9.png

Another one dies in a blast.

orODk.png

But there's more in the same area.

wjSBF.png

Not for long though.

dIYfU.png

An alien walks a long way towards Undead Phoenix, and throws a grenade!

VKQQK.png

The blast kills him instantly, but thankfully avoids any other soldier.
RIP Undead Phoenix :salute:, your scouting skills were excellent.

LagfQ.png

Sniper take up position. ironyuri misses.

lYFas.png

Merk III doesn't.

HkXES.png

The sub is found to the northwest, quite far from our landing zone.

4279E.png

Gondolin finds alien presence in the nearby corals.

Ixq0h.png

ironyuri shoots it down.

fQMb7.png

An aquatoid comes to investigate its comrade's death.

85rXZ.png

Merk III hits the coral right next to it.

8AZHn.png

aRyan earns his first kill soon after.

famyP.png

Proximity mines near the sub doors do their job.

QW4aV.png

Twice in a row. These aliens don't learn.

Ie99a.png

The last aquatoid is found far to the north.

N7Ijr.png

aRyan earns a second kill, and the mission is over.

zD1AG.png

This recovery went pretty well. Few losses and some decent loot, as well as a few much needed points.

jwAjj.png

Promotions are awarded.

Xu5d5.png

Our score is going up, now hovering around the -1000 points mark. 500 more and the month is saved.

QqiQw.png

A very smal sub is discovered by our sonars.

pFY7V.png

It is vaporized.

cGDsV.png

A very large alien vessel makes an appearance.

9ycdO.png

It comes very close to the as of yet completely defenseless China-1 base, but eventually moves away.

vbjnS.png

A new soldier arrives to replace our latest tragic loss.

mD5BB.png

And research completes, finally, on the Disruptor Pulse Launcher.

FrDcf.png

This weapon fires guided missiles, that can have up to nine way-points, with near perfect accuracy.

aoFl3.png

Each missile is extremely destructive, 150% more powerful than a sonic pulser.

aeMbC.png

Scientists are started on the Ion-Beam accelerators. Good armor is a couple weeks away now.

0gtMK.png

And we can finally begin production of the weaponry we need to destroy the alien colony.

0wXE7.png

Research finishes on Plastic Aqua-Armor. It's certainly better than the old diving suits, but we're just a couple research topics away from a much better version.

J01Ew.png

Scientists on Pacific-1 are started on Thermal Shok Launchers.

eLRtC.png

Technicians have their hands full with Disruptor production, so there's no time to provide armor for our aquanauts just yet.

5GFVb.png

A quick look at our score shows all our research and interceptions have earned us a noticeable improvement.

Dq3DH.png

Another Dreadnought moves around looking for our bases.

V6tBb.png

Once again, the alien sub gets very close to China-1, but eventually moves out.

sSluN.png

The end of the month nearing, a small sub is discovered in the Atlantic.

uWu12.png

A dual oscillator strike brings it down.

hRXE7.png

Our second launcher is complete, and we don't have enough time to make another. All technicians focus on making more ammo.

XUNME.png

And the Triton is sent to recover the small sub.

8JWwj.png

This time, we fight gilmen. No more Lobstermen or Tasoth for a while, that's good.

FpXW9.png

Thrombone lands his grenade on a little elevated position. The resulting blast doesn't even scratch the alien.

NOJD6.png

Azira IV, alone face to face with the gilman, doesn't survive the incoming sonic blast.
RIP Azira IV :salute:, you served us well this time around

5q9Em.png

Merk III fixes the previous mistake and lands a grenade in the right spot. The gilman dies in the explosion.

jf2DB.png

Thrombone is up for scouting duty, and soon finds another alien.

n2HfV.png

Pope Amole II gets his first kill with a well thrown grenade.

PuvsZ.png

Aliens move around in plain sight. This one is particularly dangerous, hopefully it won't see us.

EgSmT.png

It didn't! Merk III shoots it before it can do any damage.

0axpx.png

Pope Amole finds another green alien nearby. They must have come to investigate the explosion.

H3mYM.png

A pulser is thrown by eklektyk after rookie snipers fail their shots.

OGMqC.png

One more alien is discovered very far to the northwest.

PyjZM.png

As snipers don't have a line of fire, a pulser is thrown but lands far away. A proximity mine is landed on its feet in case it survives. The pulser blast indeed isn't enough to kill the gilman.

7UZVX.png

But the proximity mine finishes the jobs nicely.

jXPLM.png

Another decent mission, even though we still suffered a casualty.

3T6GP.png

Thrombone II gets promoted.

YH70N.png

It's now April 30th, the last day of the month. At 8 A.M., aquanauts board the Triton and load up with all the Disruptor Ammo they can carry.

ajrhc.png

Their target is the alien colony. Their mission is to nuke the place.

Was the 2 terror missions a bug? Especially considering that you had to fight two separate groups of aliens on that cruise ship, really feels like the game went bonkers.

Why would some smart alien play by the AI be a bug? Remember this game wasn't made in the modern "lets hold the player's hand through the entire game" times.

I live to serve and die for mankind! :salute: (and if I get to nuke some bug-eyes with well-placed explosives, all the better)
