Assuming my latest incarnation isn't already dead, could you replace the Vibroblade (if you were planning to give him one) with a Sonic Pistol?
You latest incarnation got a sonic cannon. I sold all my pistols but can manufacture one for the next UCat, if you wish to enlist once more.

Nah, officers should simply fight together with the rest- no bullshit hiding in the sub.
I don't hide my officers in the sub. In fact, I have them do most of the scouting now, since they are infinitely more likely to survive.

I started another playthrough of TFTD because of this lp
I'm dangerously close to doing it myself.
If this LP inspired some X-Commander to fight once more, it has already accomplished part of its goal.

UPDATE 27 - A Strange Sub
When we left off, Pacific team had just dusted off from a cruise ship apparently cleared. They would learn in the following hours that it was not.
Facilities to test and implant M.C. chips in soldiers are finished.
Workshops are constructed as well. Both Atlantic and Pacific technicians are started on building more Ion Armors.
Scientists develop a rather efficient defensive module.
The number of research topic is getting low.
Scientists begin the autopsy of an aquatoid. They don't expect to learn much from it but it can't hurt.
A large sub is found after a day passes.
Darthowski suits up in the first Ion Armor produced in Pacific base. Officers are outraged.
While on the way to the large sub, our interceptor finds a small one nearby.
The Barracuda makes it to the large sub. It looks like a supply ship, maybe a colony is nearby.
Our weapons out-range those of the alien sub, so we maintain a cautious distance and bring the sub down after a few shots.
Triton-1 is sent to recover the remains.
Barracuda-3, from Pacific base, manages to catch the small sub before it runs out of fuel, and shoots it down.
Atlantic team makes it to the large sub crash site just before nighttime.
Lobstermen ! That's a good thing, because we have the means to capture them now that we have Thermal Shok Launchers. The supply ship should be lead by a navigator, which we need alive.
Before engaging any alien, their M.C. chip will be read to make sure what rank they are. Checking their TUs can also hint us to possible reaction fire.
This lobsterman soldier is the weakest of the lobstermen, but is heaps above even eklektyk. What the stats don't show is the lobster's natural damage resistance, especially to explosives. Still, it has no TUs left to fire a reaction shot, so our snipers can shoot it as much as they want.
KickAss Jr fires a Thermal Shok bomb, and it hits!
Since lobstermen have no M.C. capabilities, identified M.C. puppets load their weapons.
ironyuri shoots at the monster, and it falls down.
KickAss looks to the side and finds another lobsterman. A M.C. reading reveals it as a technician. It's a juggernaut, don't expect to get any reaction shot on this beast. More than 100 TUs means it can cross the map easily.
Still, it has exhausted more than 50% of its TUs, which means it can't fire its sonic cannon anymore. Snipers begin laying sonic blasts on it.
Oscar finds another lobster hiding before the previous one. It also has used up too many TUs to fire.
Oscar shoots at the technicians, and hits.
Kickass fires a Thermal Shok Bomb. Technicians are useful aliens to capture, even if they're not top priority.
Yeesh fires a Thermal Shok as well, which brings the technician down. Stunned lobstermen remain dangerous due to their melee attack, so we'll have to keep a close eye on this one.
The next turn, more lobstermen are spotted at our Triton's door.
Neither of them can fire reaction shots, so our snipers continue their barrage. ironyuri hits.
aRyan hits as well.
Oscar gets the killing blow.
The lobster fled during its turn, but Yeesh soon finds it hiding behind some rocks.
Two pulsers are thrown. The first one doesn't do anything.
The second explosion is accompanied by a lobsterman's death rattle. Good.
A tentaculat springs from behind the rocks during the alien turn. Tentaculats on a supply ship ? We don't remember seeing those during our previous mission.
This one decides to camp near our sub, and falls prey to our sniper squad. Banelion misses.
But Black IV adds another kill to his tally.
A stunned tentaculat lies among the lobstermen. They're even more dangerous than lobstermen.
A pulser is thrown to deal with the potential threat.
The explosion kills both the Tentaculat and the lobsterman technician. Two less to worry about.
The sub is found to the east, with Tentaculats roaming inside. It looks smaller than a supply ship.
eklektyk takes out the big guns.
A torpedo is fired at the center of the ship. It kills some Tentaculats.
But a lobsterman survived the direct impact.
Alien movement is detected inside the sub. The shape isn't anything like that of a supply ship. It looks more like a battleship, the aquatic alien's version of a terror ship ! We were very lucky to intercept it.
While exploring to the south, Joka stumbles on a lone lobsterman.
Oscars shoots at it.
And so does Banelion, who brings the beast down.
More alien movement in the sub.
Since lobstermen are tough, eklektyk launches a torpedo in the belly of the ship to soften them up a little.
The explosion doesn't kill anything.
Alexandros finds a Tentaculat.
Oscar shoots it but the blast fails to kill.
The floating brain's M.C. chip is read. It is wounded but still very much alive. Note the insane amount of TUs the monster has, more than 140! It is thankfully crippled by its stamina, as it is exhausted and can't move as far as its TUs would allow. It's still more than fast enough to reach one of our soldiers from behind line of sight, and the insane reactions prevents any chance of retaliation fire.
Considering the extreme risk, eklektyk fires another torpedo toward the Tentaculat.
The guided missile follows its path closely and kills the alien in a massive blast.
Lobstermen emerge from the sub and shoot at kazgar. One sonic cannon shot hits his chest plates.
He takes another sonic cannon blast to the chest, but still stands.
A sonic rifle blast soon follows. kazgar is still standing.
A lobsterman moves into an ambush, and promptly retreats.
kazgar took some heavy damage, but he should make it.
Snipers begin to lay fire on the lobstermen.
After Unkillable Cat, ironyuri hits the lobsterman and brings it down.
Shepard runs for the spooked lobsterman and drills it to death.
Alexandros runs around the sub and takes a sniper by surprise. He's exhausted though, so he can't move any further.
Trying to close in the distance just a little more doesn't improve his situation at all.
And he's too tired to step back... He faces the lobsterman in front of him, trusting his strong armor shielding.
Oscars provides support by shooting at one of the lobstermen.
The following turn, a losterman technician panics.
And the other one decides to try its pincers on our sturdy armor. It doesn't even dent it.
The western lobsterman is shot down, and Alexandros drills the one in front of him. As he begins to climb the stairs, he stumbles on another one.
It's the technician. We don't need it alive, so Alexandros kills it too.
kazgar's fatal wounds are healed.
A Tentaculat moves very close to our soldiers in the sub.
Unkillable Cat begins looking for it, but finds it just as he exhausts the last of his TUs.
Shepard finds another one to the east. Nobody can shoot it.
The following turn, Tentaculats are on the move!
KickAss somehow manages to surprise the Tentaculat near Unkillable Cat with a reaction shot!
But the stun bomb isn't enough to stop the monster's rampage. Unkillable Cat is turned into a zombie.
RIP Unkillable Cat III
, you won't stay a zombie for long.
aRyan, finally in a good position, snipes the Tentaculat and kills it.
Unkillable Cat's zombie is pretty strong, but very slow. Staying away shouldn't be too hard. Its reactions are low, but don't try to kill it on the alien's turn, or the resulting Tentaculat will get a free move.
Alexandros finds a Tentaculat to the southeast.
Banelion shoots the monster from afar.
Oscar needs to finish the job.
A gun lying around, with no corpse nearby ? A panicked lobsterman is close.
Joka finds it. It's a squad leader, somewhat in between soldiers and technicians.
KickAss Jr grabs a sonic cannon and tries shooting at the zombie one handed. His poor aim doesn't help, and he misses.
aRyan doesn't.
Alexandros gets closer for a melee kill, but finds another Tentaculat to the southeast!
Catastrophe, the Thermic Lance stab wasn't enough to kill the Tentaculat.
Oscars ends the southern threat, but noone can help Alexandros now.
Noone except KickAss Jr, that is. The seaman throws a pulser close to him. Thrombone survived a point blank blast, maybe Alexandros can as well, and it's still better than turning into yet another loose Tentaculat.
The grenade explodes, killing both alien and aquanaut.
RIP Alexandros
, a fine cannon fodder, one of the best melee fighters we had.
The Navigator goes berserk ! That confirms our priority target's presence.
Joka2 kills the lobsterman squad leader.
And something knocks heavily on kazgar's shoulders during the alien turn.
It's the navigator. An absolute monster, but too weak to pierce our strong armor plating.
kazgar is in a perfect position to stun.
And stun he does. Two stabs bring the crustacean down, and end the mission.
An excellent outcome, although we lost some good soldiers. The lobsterman navigator will open up many new areas of research.
Zdzisiu takes Alexandros's spot in the list of officers.
Double checking to see we captured the right one. We did.
Selling the loot gives up some more cash to begin Gauss Cannon production in full swing. With 50 scientists, research is going slowly though, and we have many more things to study and design now...
