No open spot for now but that can change rather quickly. You're on the list either way.

UPDATE 38 - Molecular Control

When we last left off, Triton-1 was en route to recover a battleship full of gill men.

vGUoy.png

The site is reached without problems.

L3nXm.png

It doesn't take long for RK47 to spot our first targets. A revealed gill man and two shadows.

nAsYY.png

aRyan stumbles upon a more dangerous opponent to the north.

wz5s2.png

Pulsers are thrown all around the sub. The first explosion kills a gill man.

NTmjG.png

The second takes care of another.

tme3b.png

The third kills one more.

euhq1.png

But the northern pulser fails to destroy the Xarquid.

LN2Yf.png

RK47 begins scouting and is shot. The tank took heavy damage.

dYvrx.png

The alien responsible is found around the corner. It's a Xarquid.

oh7dG.png

RK47 shoots the Displacer Cannon but take a retaliation shot in return. Down to 22 health, he retreats before he's destroyed.

YCzbM.png

A Pulser is thrown to deal with the threat, and succeeds.

HGa29.png

More gill men are discovered near our starting location.

IrkkX.png

RK47 fires snap shots and his first miss kills a hidden gill man! The second one hits the right target. lightbane explores the area and finds another Xarquid.

uWnZn.png

He retreats and the next turn, RK47 takes revenge on the nautilus.

ySi6L.png

Twice.

yre7g.png

lightbane isn't out of danger yet, another Xarquid is nearby.

qvNEG.png

Hellraiser throws a pulser and the beast is down.

XDihN.png

Another Xarquid !

nldvs.png

Black IV shoots and hits.

L7B7i.png

eklektyk finishes the monster.

ab6hG.png

The Sub is found to the west. Promixity mines claim a gill man life.

NMNKh.png

aRyan shoots a shadow far to the southwest.

ltMc8.png

lightbane comes face to face with another Xarquid.

Z5iwD.png

kazgar fires a Thermal Shok and it falls down.

ZQerd.png

Black IV manages a beautiful reaction shot as he spots an alien coming down stairs.

PXUfc.png

Another alien is found, and Black continues his killing spree.

N0sRY.png

BayBee enters the sub and finds a dangerous target.

sldH8.png

Banelion takes his shots and hits once.

oR36b.png

And twice, both with snapshots. The Xarquid is however still alive.

ccRMO.png

Black continues killing aliens as they come down the stairs.

Ge7jP.png

And a third shot by Banelion takes care of the Xarquid.

6wF3k.png

lightbane explores a corner of the map and spots yet another Xarquid.

uS46m.png

eklektyk shoots and kills it with two snapshots.

7GKEw.png

Screams of frustration are heard inside the sub.

cDi25.png

BayBee runs up the stairs and stabs the berserk alien.

V3Rtx.png

Banelion stops his advance as he sees a guard standing nearby. BayBee goes through the elevator and stabs it.

ck5J8.png

Another Xarquid is discovered by lightbane.

xDkTw.png

aRyan shoots at it.

M0obi.png

But once again eklektyk has to finish the job.

wjbQO.png

BayBee goes up the elevator and is shot. Unarmed, our aquanaut takes care of the last alien on the map.

qUg3v.png

A very successful mission despite a rather bad start.

hvk4f.png

Interrogations continue. More details on alien subs are revealed.

7JLjm.png

Tasoths are starting to look for our bases.

4ZHFu.png

The site is too deep for our Barracuda.

45eDj.png

But the sub eventually comes up and is destroyed as soon as it gets in range.

0Yh0Z.png

Gill Men continue their attempts in the North Atlantic.

0osLY.png

But we don't let them do as they please.

aaFum.png

As expected, they launch a retaliation mission.

ms5G0.png

The scout is vaporized long before it can approach our base.

Guviw.png

Scientists examine more pieces of recovered alien technology.

2TP6Q.png

Gill Men are trying hard at finding our base.

j6gOx.png

This sub even came relatively close before it was shot down.

jM1Mg.png

Now Tasoths are joining on the search.

5yRlK.png

Their sub is shot down, just as every other.

E0fq3.png

The end of the month arrives, and all our interceptions got us a very good score. Funding rises noticeably but still can't pay for our maintenance.

qNuDv.png

Implantation of M.C. chips is finished on most of our soldiers and their scores are revealed. Altantic team fares pretty well, with most having above 50 and a soldier getting the perfect 100 score on the test. Congratulations, Banelion.

ea9xe.png

The weakest soldier is without a doubt the newly appointed Lieutenant Zdzisiu. We'll have to be careful around him when M.C. is to be expected.

hWJNX.png

Pacific team lost most of the soldiers scheduled for implantation, so many scores remain a mystery. Those that are revealed aren't very good.

aVqRq.png

Garfunkel being the absolute worst of all, with a M.C. strength of 0.

60JkT.png

Research completes as the month finishes.

qZhm0.png

It's just another alien sub profile.

And with that, I have finally exhausted the last of my previously played updates. Now that M.C. is readily available, it's time to decide whether it will be used or not. There are multiple choices possible :

A - Never. M.C. is for the weak, blow up the disrupting devices and never talk about it again.

B - Perfect scores only. It would be a shame not to take advantage of our best soldiers' abilities. As things stand Banelion would be the only one allowed a M.C. disruptor.

C - Full clearance. Use M.C. like another weapon in our arsenal.

D - Worst scores only (<20?). this way MC doesn't become too powerful but you can try to use it... occasionally ;)

Here, obviously
I vote B with a reservation that only people with <90 can use it.

A perfect score seems a little steep. Use it like the Pulse Launcher. You don't use it for every mission, but it is still a viable and effective weapon for the more intense fights.

Wow, my current incarnation not only is very lucky but it's the second strongest psyker of the team!! So I vote B, use MC for the perfect scores (as in anyone with a score of 95-100).

I'm going against the stream and would like to vote for having strong MC soldiers use MC only when the situation demands it- when MC can save a life and so on.
Also
Black IV shoots and hits.
Black IV manages a beautiful reaction shot as he spots an alien coming down stairs.
Another alien is found, and Black continues his killing spree.
Black continues killing aliens as they come down the stairs.
93 MC Hammmer Power
:yeah:
A shame eklektyk will most likely put an end to Black IV, from pure jealousy.

Looks like I'm middle-of-the-road cannon-fodder once again. Unless you transfer me to Pacific. I see no use in having me continue M.C. training with a crap mind like mine.

As for M.C. usage, I vote for B, with the cap being a M.C. score of 85 and higher.

an accident during sonic canons lense cleaning perhaps?

as to vote i'm torn between using it only by most prestigious officers and baning its offensive use [shame that it mostly is IWONZBUTONZ ... ]

while im planing zdzisiu's suprise B=Day party i defer MC decision to honorable Codex consensus :salute:

MC is quite unnatural and Banelion might get the idea in his head to brainwash the extremely wise and handsome senior officers so that he can gain full control of xcom

commander tripjack votes A

We must use everything at our disposal to combat the underwater menace.

That said, MC is too powerful a weapon to entrust to just anyone. Minimum score of 80 and perhaps even a requirement of being an officer.

All that effort and you're not going to use it. Deploy the MC tech to few talented officers!

How about, instead of limiting by M.C. score, you limit it by times used per mission? Say, 2-3?

Time to take control of the battle literally.
Time for the aliens to scout for us.

I think I'm starting to understand the ramifications of MC control, but hell, you worked for it. It's not like you cheated to get it.

Hellraiser throws a pulser and the beast is down.

:yeah:

Also I vote B, quality over quantity. Earth needs MC to win but if we abuse this technology we become more alien ourselves. Thus the purity of mankind must be preserved and it's use must be warranted by the EXTREME circumstances caused by this underwater war on xenos.

I vote A because fuck you, its about assaulting alien subs with mellee weapons not using psychic mumbo jumbo.
