Sorry for the delay, here the promised extra.
Probably it wasn't a good idea trying something like this.
But considering that this is an experimental LP I wanted to do it, nonetheless.
You can completely avoid to read it by the way, both due to not being proper canon and its quasi-pornographic nature, if it disturbs you.
If you decide to continue, you will get an hunch of the whole affair and of the kind of choices you could have in case you like the idea, even if here are not implemented, but can be easily spotted.
However, if you manage to read it all you will find the foreshadowing of one of the possible developments of Wulfen's character and of one of the recruitable crew members.

The epic battle you were waiting for will begin tomorrow morning, I am afraid.
Thank for your attention.

Gray Mist

After supervising the last preparatives Wulfen conceded himself a good rest.

In his last day there he decided to travel to the nearby town for having some fun before going back to his duty.

The town was small, intended more as a vacation resort for the green company than a proper city.

Looking around a bit he decided to enter a bar for some drink.

It was the typical bar for lone soldiers, with a central platform where scantly dressed dancers exhibited in front of the customers seated around it, accompanied by colored lights and syncopated music.

Wulfen had enough experience of that kind of places to know that was possible to privately retire with any of them, for a price.

He took a seat and ordered a drink, enjoying the show.

The dancers moved back and forth the stage, stopping in front of a customer at the time for some instant, obviously trying to get a client for a private show in the back rooms.

An azure skinned Jenhary stopped in front of him rhythmically moving the hips covered by a
semitransparent white veil, a similar one covered the breasts.

Jenhary were a race without hair, the difference between the male and female of the species was in their internal genitalia, the joke among the soldiers was that you can only know when you fuck them, the typical retort was that they all have great asses, so you know what way to go to avoid surprises.

But at the moment Wulfen didn't feel adventurous enough for trying that exotic experience.

The Jenhary left visibly disappointed.

This time was the turn of two blond human girls, twins, they intentively began to kiss each other, caressing their respective intimate parts under the skimpy golden skirts they wore.

Wulfen decided to have one more drink to get in the right mood, the twins walked away
glancing in an inviting manner.

Lupus was looking around him when he noticed two young men seated at one of the table near the
wall, they seemed more interested in the muscled customers than the dancers.

Oh well, it wasn't unusual for that kind of people hanging around places with horny militia men, quite understandable.

Wulfen thought that was a thing old as war probably.

The two looked at him, the younger one seemed very nervous in contrast with his partner, probably the more experienced of the two.

With a smirk Wulfen raised the glass in their direction, mimicking a toast.

They looked at each other, hesitating, unsure in what to do.

Then Wulfen turned his back to them.
"The charm of the grizzled veteran strikes again."
He thought with a sardonic smile.

In that moment the dancers began to leave the stage, the music stopped, an the lights were turned off.

After few seconds a spotlight illuminated the center of the stage.

A jet black woman was standing there, covered only by the purple veils that she was holding over the head, her feline-like yellow eyes darted around the platform.

Everyone was silent, they had never seen one of her species before, probably she was from the unexplored regions beyond the outer sectors.

A monotonous tone from an unknown string instrument began to accompany her movements.

Slowly, with abandonment, she began to circling and whirling.

Now the string instrument was accompanied by the rhythmic sound of a drum, alternating rapid moments to long pauses.

The dance changed accordingly, by alternating jerking movements and jumps with a sudden immobility, where the woman scanned the darkness around her as searching something, or someone.

As having found what she was searching for, she began to crawl on the stage, her gaze fixed upon Wulfen .

When she was in front of him the acute sound of a flute joined the other two instruments, creating a hectic cacophony.

The entire body of the woman was shaken by rapid spasms as she bended backwards while knelt, completely exposing herself to Wulfen.

The veils twirled furiously in front of her.
Hiding and revealing at the same time.

The convulsed movement of her hips became a powerful thrusting, up and down, up and down.
At this point she rolled on herself, lying prone in a reverse spread eagle position.

From there she started to push her back towards Wulfen before taking a powerful dive in the opposite direction.

She did this for a few times before getting up and walking towards the backstage, openly inviting Wulfen to follow her.

Lupus' vision became blurred, everything before his eyes turned into a gray mist where people and objects were discerned only by their silver contours.
Walking in a dream-like state he reached the backstage, a dull throb in his temples.

He followed the jet black figure through a maze of corridors, losing sight of her.

He frantically searched around until he was in front of a green door.

Behind it Wulfen found a room with an alcove, she was there, waiting for him at the light of the candles.

Her skin was glittering as it had been recently oiled.
Wulfen threw away his clothes and reached her.

She kissed him as if an insatiable hunger was devouring her, Lupus responded with the same transport, pushing her over the bed.

He then penetrated inside her with a single, forceful, movement.

When Lupus began to thrust deep and hard she uttered a series of high pitched, animal-like, sounds, and began to move as to escape his brutal desire, writhing under that merciless assault.

This excited Wulfen even more, transforming their embrace in a wild chase.

Every time that she was on the point to slip away he pierced her like the spear of an hunter.

It was as Lupus had been possessed by a unnatural furor that he never showed before, not even in war.

The woman finally managed to break free but when she tried to reach for the door Wulfen firmly gripped her ankles dragging her under himself again.

Now she was on her belly hold down by Lupus weight, immobilized by the wrists.

For a moment only their heavy breath could be heard in the room.

Then Wulfen, completely dominated by the basest of his instincts, sodomized her, using his full strength to win her resistance.

Her scream was like the roar of a wounded tiger.

Her body convulsed in pain under him, he struggled for not being pushed out as if was mounting a wild horse.

When he finally got a firm hold on her, he continued the assault with savage abandonment.

At this point it was as the conscience of Lupun Wulfen had been completely submerged by some primordial force storming through his soul.

He saw reality as from a great distance, completely flat and devoid of any color, his actions appeared to him as blinding white flashes in a sea of darkness.

When finally he regained control of himself she was trembling and moaning under him.

He get out of the alcove with unsteady legs, almost shaking, putting an hand on the wall to support himself he noticed a dissimulated little door there.

After opening it he was in a walled garden with unknown plants, probably a recreation of the place she came from, he thought.

Inspiring the fresh air of the night helped him to regain contact with reality.

He seated on the ground with his back against what passably resembled a tree.

He already had rough sex before, but that what happened few moments ago was well beyond it.

He gazed at the stars full of perplexity when a shadow covered him.

She was in the framework of the door looking at him with her inscrutable yellow eyes.

After a moment she walked there was the quasi-tree and calmly crouched near him, with her head on his chest.

Many question crossed Wulfen's mind.
So?
Some alien pheromone got the best of him?
Was it all a scene to excite his inflamed senses?
Some kind of mating ritual?

Probably he will never could get an answer from her.

Jokingly he wondered if maybe it was like the story, that many swore to be totally true, of a beautiful alien woman that after provoking men in having savage sex devoured them.

"If you must devour me, please, do it without waking me."Said with a smile Wulfen, before falling in a sleep without dreams.

The naked woman inside the blood circle moaned while clawing her sex with both hands.
"Yes come to me, come to me."
She said looking at the three moons in the night sky that were crowning the second of the twin planets.

Wulfen was waked by the warmth of the sun on his face.
Getting on his feet he reached the room, his clothes were in a pile near the door.

The woman, covered with a purple dress, watched him from the alcove when he put them on.

"Well, this is a goodbye, I guess."
He said, ready to leave.

After a moment of hesitation the woman ran towards him and whispered in his hears:
"Zhayra."

"Lupus" said Wulfen thinking that she told him her name.

They remained there, looking each other deeply in the eyes for long moments, an inscrutable mystery to one another.

Then Lupus left directed at the Astrodome, war was waiting.

Rapacious Skies

The base of the Green Company on Karhyen was preparing for the assault from the first moment that they received the reports of the imminent offensive of the Jehnizars against them.

The number of troops had been discretely increased and all the weaponry renewed and readied, all maneuvers that could have easily go undetected by an external observer or considered normal for a facility of such strategic relevance and in a position at the forefront of the war.

Until that moment the astropatols didn't signaled anything out of the ordinary.
"But this doesn't mean much."
Thought Norian Dhen, already positioned with his astrocrafts behind the sun of the Karhyen system.

The usual tactic of the Jehnizars was to send a battle group composed by a battlecruiser and four 'condors', heavy astrocrafts armed with fusion cannons and nuclear torpedoes, ideal for attack or defense, with the purpose of escorting a mothership carrying tens of lighter astrocrafts, 'hawks' generally, and troops which number and type varied depending on the mission and that were launched far away from the target to reduce the risks of detection.

Differently from the comparable astrocrafts of the Green Company, such as the ones used by the Wulfen Militia, the 'hawks' traveled below light speed and could easily operate inside planetary atmosphere.

Their principal weapons were high energy pulse cannons, that even if they couldn't pass through many armors could still cause damage due to the high heat of the explosion produced by the impact.

In addition, they usually equipped concussion torpedoes mounting war-heads composed of different layers of various kinds of explosives that were activated in sequence creating different degrees of damage, practically a demolition tool.

Georian Sthar nervously observed the monitors, it was the third day that Wulfen and him were awaiting with their militias strategically dispersed in little groups, taking turns in patrolling the system, ready to converge on the enemy at a predetermined signal.

The doubt that it was a diversion was insinuating in his mind.
True, the precise moment of the attack was unknown, and by the intelligence difficultly gathered in enemy territory a large movement of astrocrafts had already been detected, but more time passed, more the likelihood of an attack to another, less guarded, objective.

Exactly in that moment hundreds of 'hawks', after traveling an unprecedented distance to avoid detection, were approaching their target.

They slided trough the planet's atmosphere as gliders, spiraling towards the surface.
Reaching the intended altitude they activated their propulsion systems and launched a massive assault against all the facilities of the Green Company on the planet.

Wave after wave the concussion torpedoes hammered the concreplast walls, followed by a rain of pulse blasts.

The immediate response was an infernal barrage from the newly installed hyper-velocity guns and wave torpedoes for disrupting the cohesion of the enemy forces.
The deafening sound of the explosions on the ground was matched by the fire globes flourishing in the sky.

Immediately after receiving notice of the attack Georian Sthar ordered reconnaissance patrols to determine the position of the enemy's battle group.

To avoid to reveal that they were aware of a possible attack some of the possible places from which it could come were left unpatrolled, making easier to determine the enemy's position if needed.

In fact it didn't took long before spotting the Jehnizar force.
There were five battle groups, with the support of dozens of 'vultures' and their particle disruptors.

Wulfen received the report at the same time as Shtar, so he awaited for orders, trusting the commander judgment implicitly.

It wasn't the first time that Georian Sthar faced tough decisions in that war, but this didn't made them any easier.

A)Attack the battle groups immediately while asking support from Norian ad his battlecruisers, this will ease the pressure on Karhyen, but this is the most risky choice, your astrocrafts can be superior but you can face huge losses.

B)Help Karhyen, you will face wave after wave of enemies but you will have the support of the artillery there.
And the Jehnizar force will surely approach the planet, permitting a coordinated attack with Norian against them.

C)Wait, when the enemy's battle groups will approach the planet you could set an ambush helped by Norian's battlecruisers.
Military wise this is the best option, you could wipe out the entire enemy force with minor losses for your astrocrafts, being ready to support Zhenar Xhan's incursion at the best of your possibilities afterwards.
But this also means to let Karhyen suffer the full impact of the enemy attack, their losses will be horrific.

Also, let me now if you are interested in taking control of other commanders in this battle beside Wulfen.

Seems like the best choice of Casualties, Kills and Future Capabilities. Also, Yes, I would like to view the battle from other commander's PoV as well.

Lastly, can we have a list of characters (particularly the commanders) so far and all the known ship types till this point?

I am working on a proper addendum for this to clarify some things and furthering the plot.

Here a little resume however:
Appointed Battle Marshall:
Commander Karl Chas.

Appointed Field Commanders that have command over the militias in the war-zones of their competence, they can designate another commander as lieutenant and ask for support to external militias, in this case they will have an adjoined Commander too:

Norian Dhen, as his lieutenant Commander Georian Sthar, as adjoined Commander Lupus Wulfen.
George Gragg, as his lieutenant Commander Dorian Ten-Har, as adjoined Commander Thurian Kar.
Zhenar Xhan, relies on the internal structure of his militia.
Velhar Kraszyek, the same as Commander Xhan.

The ships at their disposal wildly vary, they can generally be divided as this:
Light Astrocrafts.
Medium/Heavy Astrocrafts, generally known as Assaulters.
Heavy Astrocrafts, Battlecruisers are part of them.
Battlecruiser can be considered a class on their own tho.

Generally you can aspect people in game to distinguish only between light and heavy astrocrafts or to refer specifically to some well defined type of astrocraft as Battlecruisers, more or less as in real life, let me know if you find this inconsistent, I will try to define it better, but consider that the various sectors didn't have an homogeneous development and that their necessities heavily differed from each other, and this is reflected in the astrocrafts they use.

The Jehnizar equivalents are:
Light Astrocrafts known as 'Hawks'.
Medium/Heavy Astrocrafts known as 'Vultures' and 'Condors'.
They have Battlecruisers too.
They also use a special class, 'Motherships', for the transport of 'Hawks' mostly, with some 'Vultures' , they can also carry 'Condors', even if very rarely.

Hard Rain

Georian Shtar don't hesitated, he promptly interposed his heavier astrocrafts between the planet and the incoming 'hawks'.

The Defiant Militia was born to fight the Jehnizars, he knew perfectly their tactics, for this reason he posed as the most advanced line the heavier assaulters with their electroplasma bombs for wrecking havoc among the formations of lightly shielded 'hawks', effectively breaking their front, targeting them with hypervelocity guns and phase cannons, a type of pulse cannon that shot a rapid sequence of impulses, each of one at different frequencies, a crude but effective way to bypass armors.

He also knew that this will have surely provoked the intervention of the 'vultures', that with their particle disruptors were designed for attacking assaulters and other heavy astrocrafts.
For them were ready the nuclear torpedoes and the pulse cannons of the light astrocrafts of the Defiant Militia.

In the meanwhile Wulfen's astrocrafts attacked the tens of the 'hawks' that still managed to pass through the first assaulter's line due to their sheer number.

His light astrocrafts were more massive and faster than the 'hawks', but this advantages were negated by the fact they couldn't operate in atmosphere, and space fights usually happened below light-speed.

Wulfen on his part had something more that just better astrocrafts, experience.

His ships skillfully maneuvered in groups of three, tailing each other, passing through the 'hawks' ranks raining down an incessant barrage of pulse blasts followed by the continuous fire of the hypervelocity guns.

To escape this onslaught the 'hawks' entered the planet atmosphere to avoid to be chased and hoping to revert the situation by taking control of Karhyen.

This was their worst mistake, if the wave torpedoes of Wulfen had been designed to produce damage in space to heavy astrocrafts their use in atmosphere was tenfold more lethal.

After having awaited enough Wulfen's astrocrafts converged on Karhyen launching the first salvo of torpedoes.

Almost all of the 'hawks' still in the superior strata of the atmosphere were wiped out.

On their part the Green Company troops of the Karhyen's base began to launch fragmentation missiles against the 'hawks' still attacking them, an obsolete weapon, but ideal in that moment, where the enemy force was in complete disarray.

Until that moment the battle was in favor of the Green Company's Commanders, but they knew that the real fight would have began when the battlecruisers would have entered the fray.

Sationed behind the sun' system Norian Dhen was attentively listening to the reports he was receiving.

Until now the majority of casualties had been suffered by the base on Karhyen during the first attacks, as was expected, but even the militias of Wulfen and Shtar were beginning to signal some losses, unsurprisingly due to the number of enemies they were facing.

However the first assault of the enemy forces had been effectively halted.

At this point an intervention of the 'vultures' was inevitable.

Dhen estimated that half of the 'hawks' at the enemy's disposal had been launched in that preliminary attack.

The commander pondered what to do in that situation.

A)Wait until the whole of the enemy battle group has joined the battle, then you could deliver a decisive strike having surprise on your side.
However this means that the militias engaged in battle at Karhyen will face overwhelming forces, until now they managed it splendidly tho.

B)Join the battle, even if this means to renounce to your strategic advantage, better offer a united front to the attack, your combined forces with the support of Karhyen's artillery will probably suffer very minor losses even if this is practically going toe-to-toe with the enemy.

C)Use this lull in the battle to attack where the enemy battle group is stationed and ask for the support of Wulfen and Shtar.
Anticipating the enemy' s moves can be the best strategy.
Karhyen will have to resist some more on its own.

Let me know what you think of this almost RTS way of play, and if you find appropriate the choices I'm giving you.

A little addendum to help people to vote and provide an insight in Norian Dhen point of view and his personality.

The Fangs of the Wolf

Wulfen observed how the 'hawks' retreated under the constant assault of his militia.

"Don't follow them, they will try to lure you in their midst for gunning you down afterwards."
Advised the commander, not that was strictly necessary, all his men were experienced veterans, but you can never know in the heat of the battle.

Now the 'hawks' will have surely tried to regroup, the real question was what they would have done afterwards.

Continuing the attack against Karhyen was out of question, without the 'vultures' supporting them that would have been akin to a suicide, even if would have been nice on their part, thought Wulfen with a smirk.

More probably they would have remained in the outskirts of the planet waiting for reinforcements or maybe they could decide to attack Shtar's militia forcing Wulfen to intervene to help the fellow commander, in this case the battle will soon become an all out massacre, considered Lupus.

Not that this worried any of the commanders, but they desired above all to achieve a clear victory, so they waited for Commander Norian Dhen decisive intervention, putting their trust in one of the most respected veterans in the whole Green Company.

Dhen in that moment felt more as the most old of the respected veterans in the whole Green Company, exactly what he was, to be fair.

Fighting alongside Shtar gave him a nostalgic and sad feeling, that was his most dear friend and he pitied his trust in the Green Company, he never realized the deep enmities and political plays that ran deep below the surface.

He more than anyone else realized what was at stake there.

The future of the Commonwealth itself.

Wulfen's intervention at the war council helped to avert a major crisis, of this he was sure.

But the hostility between the Outer and Central Sectors was only awaiting to explode and the power struggle between the Directorate and the Representativity was becoming more apparent by the day.

Who knows what could have happened if they would have entered this battle without a clear leadership?
Probably someone would have tried to take advantage of that, no doubt about it, bitterly thought the commander.

An exit declaration from the outer sectors, or a declaration of preeminence from the Directorate, or both at the same time or as answer to the other's actions.

And the Representativity, why not call for a general pronunciation of all the sectors, dictatorship by the ballot in the opinion of many inside the Green Company.

"After all a dictatorship, whatever its nature, it's preferable to a violent dissolution, we are only delaying the inevitable here."
The eyes of the commander were hard and cold while thinking this.

Shaking his head he returned to the questions at hand.

Victory is always the best way to ironing differences, shouted, directed at no one in particular

He calmly considered the options at his disposal, he knew that Wulfen and Shtar were experienced commanders, they will have accepted any strategy that would have had the best chances of winning the battle without regrets.

I wonder why so many people read this LP but don't vote, oh, bump. :M

Edit:
Later on I think that I will post an addendum about Karhyen's base and his commander, at first I was in doubt at introducing a new character but I feel that something would be lacking at this point without Karhyen's POV.

All right, another addendum while waiting for anus_pounder decisive vote.

A Quiet Man

After the Jehnizars' attack the survivors sought revenge or safety.

For this reason many joined Georian Shtar's defiant militia while the rest of the inhabitants of the sector either left or resettled near a Green Company compound for protection.

This effectively transformed the social and economical landscape, now inextricably bound to military activities.

Even the strategic trade routes with the central sectors were affected due to the possibility of an enemy's take over.

In this situation Anton Brent asked to be assigned at Khayren's base, something that seemed quite strange at the time.

True, the base there was fundamental for the safety of the sector, and one of the principal sources for xeno-artifacts of the Commonwealth.

But that would also have meant to get all the troubles of a military assignment without the opportunity of directly engage the enemy in combat.

Through his dedication and competence he was elected commander of the base, and also because there wasn't that much of competition.

To be commander at Khayren was seen more like a bureaucratic role on top of having much less autonomy than the commander's role usually had.

However the reason for his choice was quite simple, he was already widowed when the attack took place, and lost his children in the same incident in which he lost his wife.

Not an uncommon occurrence in the farthest sectors such as that, barely colonized yet.

He wasn't that old but after the attack he gave up on the idea of getting another family.

To be assigned at the base was ideal for being busy and doing something meaningful.

When informed of the imminent Jehnizars' offensive he made all the needed preparatives.

All the facilities on the planet, except for the main base, began to operate with the bare minimum of personnel while the civilian staff, like technicians, had been replaced with Green Company's troops, all the operations for the retrieving and studying of xeno-artifacts were all effectively halted.

The new hypervelocity guns were hastily installed, enhanced versions of the phase cannons put in place and all the available stocks of wave torpedoes made operational.

At Anton Brent' s disposal were also plasma bombs, useful for targeting eventual astrocrafts heavier than 'hawks', and fragmentation missiles, an obsolete weapon, but still very useful against enemies that would come too close to the base.

However all the defenses of the base had been designed with external support from astrocrafts in mind.

Trying to make the base capable of repelling a full offensive was seen, not only exceedingly demanding, resource wise, but hardly attainable, without considering that if the astrocrafts would haven't been able to stop the enemy it was best evacuate than trying a desperate last stand.

For this very reason Anton Brent obtained tho build an atomic cannon in an independent facility nearby the base when he was appointed as commander.

A relic of the old days, when sectors fought others sectors, due to the scarcity of resources they preferred to build battlecruisers, nowadays dwarfed by the modern titans, capable of attacking single settlements.

The atomic cannons were the major line of defense against such attacks, capable to hit a target in orbit.

But in this war having heavy astrocrafts orbiting their targets to attack was not only unheard of but unthinkable, especially if they were battlecruisers.

"Why you need such a resource consuming and ineffective weapon commander?"
Asked Marshall Karl Chas at the time.
"Do you plan to put up an heroic resistance till the last man? This doesn't seem like you."

"That fleets of light astrocrafts could win wars was seen as preposterous before the Jehnizars' attack, people preferred big guns and big astrocrafts, now seems the opposite."
Replied Anton Brent.
"I only want to be prepared in case things will change again."

"But we can afford only one, and just as a research facility, do you realize that?"
Said the Marshall looking him in the eyes.

"Yes sir, and I accept it."

Karl Chas continued to look at him.
"Commander I hope that you would clearly understand that suicide is not seen as a suitable tactic by the Green Company."

"I just want to raise the chances on my sides as much as I can Marshall, my objective is just to defend the base the best I can, nothing more."
Commander Brent's eyes were calm when saying this.

Karl Chas reluctantly gave his permission, after all, he thought, Anton Brent was a quiet man, not a warrior thirsting for glory, he joined the Green Company to defend his family and his sector, and now he had lost both, still he doesn't seem to hold a grudge or wanting revenge.

"An honest man doing the job he's good at."
This was the opinion of all.

Sorry, is taking more time than I thought, here the first par of the update, I hope to add the rest very soon, no vote for now.

Stand Strong

Commander Brent take the opportunity to order the evacuation of all the facilities on the planet, except for the main base, and to activate the atomic cannon, maybe it will be needed very soon.

Until that moment they managed to contain the casualties, but some section of the base had already been severely damaged, without the help of the battle group hiding behind the system' sun the number of deaths would have bound steeply increased.

Meanwhile the battle above the planet' skies was about to recommence.

The 'hawks' after regrouping concentrated their attacks against the Defiant Militia, forcing Wulfen to intervene, engaging the enemy in furious one on ones.

In that moment the first 'vultures' with, their particle disruptors, were approaching Karhyen.

Almost surely derived from xeno-artifacts' technology, particle disruptors were a weapon that could pass easily through any major type of armor, a weapon that helped the Jehnizars to challenge the superior armament of the Commonwealth, a weapon which assault only battlecruiser can withstand due to their sheer mass and energy shields.

'Vultures' were essentially giant reactors build expressly for this weapon, luckily they didn't have the expertise to manage high energy systems in a more sophisticated way as the Commonwealth did.

Such a weapon mounted on light astrocrafts would have meant that they could have easily take heads on battlecruisers.

'Vultures' principal role was to target medium/heavy astrocrafts and in that moment they were aiming for Georian Shtar's assaulters when Norian Dhen's astrocrafts entered the fray with their pulse cannons dispersing the assailants.

His assulters were more agile than the ones at the disposal of the defiant militia and immediately began to chase the 'vultures' while the battlecruisers took position.

In minutes the battle descended in total confusion.

Wulfen's astrocrafts incessantly chased the 'hawks' on a singular basis, maintaining the previous formation of groups of three was no longer possible.

Shtar's assaulters broke their formation and positioned themselves at the rear while his light astrocraft tried to hit the 'vultures with their nuclear torpedoes.

But the enemy realizing the danger was using one of the tactics where the Jehnizars excelled.

Quick sorties against the major targets and fast dispersion afterwards, trying to lure the defenders away to single them out, all while maneuvering in the midst of the Green Company's formations with the intent to impede any effort at creating a cohesive front and negating in this way the superiority of their opponents.

But they were against veterans, after some minutes of that infernal confusion all the militias suddenly abandoned the area, they inconspicuously maneuvered to converge in some zones to lure the enemy there, knowing that the Jehnizars would have tried to infiltrate amongst their ranks, in the few instants that took to the Jehnizars to respond they were targeted by the artillery of Norian Dhen's battlecruisers.

The pulse cannons mounted on battlecruisers were much more powerful than the ones generally mounted on other astrocrafts, and in this case they not only generated a sequence of high energy impulses, this impulses were also enormously magnetically compressed, causing a large explosion in the intended area.

The Jehnizars after the first salvos scattered in every direction to find themselves under the fire of the hypervelocity guns of the returning militias.

In that half an hour the battle began to took his toll on the defenders, they lost some assaulter and an higher number of light astrocrafts, acceptable considering the damage caused to the enemy.

The 'hawks' had been severely decimated and the 'vultures' had been reduced by a third.

Now is only a matter of time before the rest shows up, was the thought of all the commanders.

For now the Jehnizars applied the usual strategy, swarm the target with the 'hawks', when nearby astropatrols intervene attack them with 'vultures', so the intervention of Shtar and Wulfen didn't arise any suspicion considering that wasn't unusual for militias to patrol that sector.

In case a battle group with its battlecruisers showed up they habitually fled or attacked with the 'condors', their battlecruiser were held as a weapon of last resort.

But this time there was five of them.

Even so, probably they will intervene at the last minute as usual, this was the unanimous opinion of the commanders.

In that moment the enemy's motherships began to move with all of the 'hawks' that they were transporting, accompanied by all the other 'vultures'.
While the Jehnizars' battlecruisers started their travel towards Karhyen escorted by the 'condors'.

Duty and Beliefs

Zhenar Xhan entered enemy's territory shortly after the attack against Karhyen commenced.

The objective was the principal military facility of the Jehnizars in the Theresian Quadrant, the zone that comprised the Fringe sector.

He and his men were well aware of what was at stake there.

The captains commanding the new ships were almost all ex-commanders disaffected with the Directorate that put their hopes in the Representativity for a change of course in the Commonwealth.

They feared that a failure could have been used to undermine the growing collaboration between the military and the Representativity, a collaboration that in the future would foster a regular army, or this was their hope.

Why else the new battlecruisers had been assigned only to them?

Zhenar Xhan had addressed this concern in their private briefing.

"Gentlemen, I know that you find strange that the Directorate consented to this, but even inside the Directorate there are forces pushing for reforms."

"However the others that oppose these reforms have given us a double edged sword with these powerful, but not yet tested in battle, battlecruisers."

"We succeed, the reforms will proceed, we fail, the progresses done until now will be upheld against the Representativity as motives of the failure."

"I have the utmost confidence, however, that will not fail, because I trust all of you as I trust myself."

After these words the reunion ended and every captain reached his ship animated not only by the determination of the soldier but by the will of a man absolutely certain of his mission.

These battlecruisers used a new light speed system based on xeno-artifacts' technology.

At its core was a device that created a powerful distortion at an electro-quantum level that engulfed the whole battlecruiser.

This distortion could be projected in the desired direction, permitting to travel considerable distances at several times the speed of light.

This, however, required a special hull with a determined shape and adequate materials.

Create such astrocrafts required the collaboration of both the Green Company experience with xeno-artifacts and the Representativity scientific and technical expertise.

Only battlecruisers could use such system for now.

For this mission they equipped powerful pulse cannons, nuclear torpedoes and nutron bombs.

An escort of light astrocrafts transporting electro-plasma bombs followed them.

Due to the difference in the type of propulsion, and that being the first time that the new battlecruisers traveled so far, a series of rendezvous had been established, to verify the position and avoid to separate their forces.

During one of these rendezvous, passing near one of the enemy outposts, Zhenar Xhan was informed that the sensors detected a distortion signal very similar to the one produced by their own battlecruisers.

"This sensors are part of the same technology of our propulsion system, so they haven't been completely tested. Is it possible that they are detecting an echo left by of our own battlecruisers?"
Asked the commander.

"It's true that we register such echoes on a regular basis sir, but this time there are distinct differences that can be worth of consideration."
Answered the official assigned at the surveillance system.

The thought of the possibility that the enemy was using a similar propulsion system was worrisome not only because that would have meant losing an advantage, the probability of a spy passing such sensible informations couldn't be excluded too.

If that distortion signal was produced by another astrocraft, something not certain at the moment.

The problem was that to avoid detection any kind of transmission had been prohibited, so the commander was on its own in trying to ascertain what was happening.
And only the new battlecruisers could follow another astrocraft using the same propulsion system, if that was the case.

Zhenar Xhan faced a tough decision.

What he sould do?

A)Proceed as established, he can't risk to endanger the mission for chasing ghosts.

B)Investigate this distortion with the whole of his battle group, if it's really the enemy it's better to be prepared at the best of one possibilities.

C)Send only one battlecruiser to investigate, with the order to inform the Marshall immediately if they should discover something , he will decide what to do in this case.

I'll hold back my vote for now.

Same. Don't get discouraged if it takes a while for people to start voting, I know that I tend to wait until other people give some arguments or you post some more addendum.

Right now I'm thinking C or A. Politically it sounds like we can't afford a loss or anything drifting too far away from the plan. Though finding out more about this spy or even capturing one of these ships (and it's particle-disruptors) sounds important.

Not a vote, but C sounds like the best option. We can't really disregard the signal, but the fight seems like the biggest thing right now.

I agree with this, and I vote C
