Tags: HarbingerMonkeyReview has posted up their review of Harbinger, giving it three bananas. There is an interesting tibdit, in one paragraph, the reviewer says there's nothing wrong with the graphics and animation and in the next he says I'm very disappointed in the graphics and animation. Anyway, here's a clip:
All in all, this is a disappointing game. It had the potential to be an innovative and fresh sci-fi RPG. Instead the designers opted for some tried and true methods in design and interface and missed the chance to create a fresh feeling game. If this had come out within 6 months of the release of Diablo, it would have been incredible. Coming out now, it just comes across as dated and out of step with the games available to a discerning gaming market. The graphics and background detail are nice but only reach what is expected of a game now. I think the creators at Silverback were headed in the right direction with this game, but unfortunately settled for the result instead of pushing for excellence.
I don't think six months from Diablo would have helped. I think it'd show the flaws of the game even more because what Diablo does right would be more fresh in our minds.
