Cyberpunk 2077 Deep Dive Video

CD Projekt released a bunch of new Cyberpunk 2077 screenshots during Gamescom last week, but this time we knew it was just a prelude to the release of a gameplay video, finally revealing the demo they showed to the press at E3 back in June. However, this year instead of full-length gameplay footage, CD Projekt opted to produce a shorter video edited down to emphasize particular aspects of the game. As we know, in the demo V is hired by the Voodoo Boys, a gang of Haitian netrunners, to take on a rival gang of augmented bodybuilders called the Animals. The video demonstrates how two different character builds might approach this challenge - a "Strong Solo" combat specialist and a Netrunner. Along the way there are glimpses of character creation, inventory and hacking. The video ends with a confrontation that doesn't end well for V, apparently leading to the emergence of Johnny Silverhand, but CD Projekt seem to want to avoid spoiling anything here.

The video was followed up by a one hour Q&A session with several of Cyberpunk 2077's developers. You can watch the entire stream yourself here, or just read PC Gamer's summary of the most interesting bits. There's lots of cool stuff here for sure, but I suspect that lacking a satisfying narrative arc, this video won't have the same appeal as last year's gameplay reveal. I wonder if they plan to show more before the end of the year.
