Tags: Fate; Wild TangentGamerDad, the game review website for gaming dads, have put together a review of Fate, the shareware action RPG that borrows a lot from the Diablo games. They rate it 4/5 for general goodness and also note that it's okay for the kids.
I was very pleasantly surprised to find a game that comes in as little as a 25MB download and will play on my ultra-portable with integrated graphics that was so much fun and looked so nice. Downloading the 115MB high-resolution pack made things really look nice on my gaming machine. Unlocking was very easy, and the playability is a dream. This is not an earth-shattering game, nor is it particularly innovative in any way but one—it is a fun RPG for all ages. It can be challenging for experienced players, yet easy for novices, and is acceptable for kids without being too kid-oriented for adults. It is a solid title that shows polish and a good solid gaming experience. Better still, you can experience the full game for six levels before buying so there is little reason not to try. After so successfully emulating the gameplay of Diablo, maybe the guys behind Fate could try making an homage to Fallout. It'd be interesting to see what they come up with.
