All of the player characters start Harbinger with plasma-based weapons. As you progress you'll find modifier chips that can be placed into slots on weapons and armor - much as you would socket gems in Diablo II. You can slot multiple chips of the same kind - and unlike Diablo II you can swap out chips at any time. These chips can add combat modifiers and damage types to items that the player can use. Additional buttons for each damage type are added to or removed from the Rigging menu seen at the lower left in Screenshot 28 when a weapon that already has multiple damage types is equipped - or when chips that enable a damage type are added or removed.
