During the next four centuries, several more crusades were led, but this time against various fell forces such as Storm Dragons and necromancers. The Golden Horde, the Mongols mixed with goblin armies, invaded Europe and due to changed circumstances ravaged the countryside making it all the way deep into Italy. The Byzantine Empire and Teutonic Knights were destroyed in the onslaught. Later, the new world was discovered by Columbus as Spain tried to exert its influence over the rest of the planet. After being destroyed by natives riding reptilian beasts, the survivors of the expedition made their way back to Spain to tell the king. Furious, he funded conquistidors such as Cortez to take the new world. When marching against the Aztec capital city of Tenochtitlan, Cortez and his army were annihilated as ancient Aztec gods and monsters descended on them from the city. The New World was never conquered. Oops. No more us.
Cortez hated that.
