So, instead of caving into my temptations, I thought I would take this opportunity to shed a little light on how things work here at Silverback and give you some insight into how we do things in these parts. Basically, Steve Macomber and I possess a naive faith in the benefits of meritocracy. Anyone here is free to throw out their ideas and everyone else is free to tear those ideas apart. Everyone has a voice, with the person who is expected to do the actual work having a louder voice than the rest. In the end, if it's an art issue, Steve has the final say. Period. If it's a programming issue, then the final say is mine. For thornier problems, usually ones that fall into the fuzzy area in between art and programming, we scream, shout and stomp around until the person who feels strongest about the issue wins. The one thing that we avoid like church on Saturday is having anyone working on something that they know is inherently wrong.
Maybe that's the problem. The people who know something is broken probably should be the ones working on it. Someone at Silverback had to think, Hey, maybe out character system is a little too shallow, after all.
