Why is Gothic series so culty?

Eh, I think even those things may have been done due to time constraints. No time create interesting encounters, no time to design a more natural way for quest hooks, Lore just shat together in a hurry to conform to whatever was needed at the moment... Content is usually created very late in the...

Kingdom Come: Deliverance II - Henry is back - coming 2024

The game as a whole needs to be designed around one or the other. KCD makes it clear that limited save is what the game design has in mind, and the recommended way to play. People who dislike it can simply get a mod. If you made the mod a "game mode" you'd be under sort of an obligation to make...

Kingdom Come: Deliverance II - Henry is back - coming 2024

A game shouldn't try to cater to everyone - that's how you get casualization.

Why is Gothic series so culty?

G3 was PB biting off way more than they could chew. The map was enormous compared to previous games and it was obvious they couldn't handle it, hence the shit, low-effort content strewn about, the whole "liberation" questline that kinda went nowhere and was scuffed as hell, vast stretches of...

Kingdom Come: Deliverance II - Henry is back - coming 2024

The purpose of the save limit is to raise the stakes at least a tiny bit, they even said as much - it's mostly about getting the player in the right mental state rather than to present a challenge in itself. There's more than enough schnapps to save before each and every fight, but there's not...

Why is Gothic series so culty?

The main thing that dropped was the quality of basically everything. Worse level design, worse combat, worse balance, worse story and setting... Archolos showed the difference between old Gothics and newer games pretty well

Why is Gothic series so culty?

Not true. New creatures spawn each chapter, regardless of whether previous creatures were killed or not. The combat in Gtohic's great, if a but exploitable if you know what you're doing. WTF are you on about? The difference is that the latter games are of much worse quality, not that they have...

It saves whenever you quit the game

KickStarter Kingdom Come: Deliverance - Dan Vavra's medieval chad simulator

Try practicing on the river stumps in Ledecko. Bows are hard in early game, but later on, you can downright snipe with them

KickStarter Kingdom Come: Deliverance - Dan Vavra's medieval chad simulator

The better your bow skill, the steadier Henry's aim. And you'll learn where the arrow's gonna fly with practice. Pro tip: don't hold the bow drawn. Release the arrow right as Henry fully draws the string, like the various archery instructors in-game tell you, making it one fluid motion. Idk how...

Kingdom Come: Deliverance II - Henry is back - coming 2024

Tbh, who cares? That's a historical tidbit with no actual impact on gameplay. When I boot up a game, I care about the stuff in the game, not the trivia surrounding it. Thief 2 had more gameplay elements with the various cameras and such, and fewer of those awful Indiana Jones-like levels, which...

Kingdom Come: Deliverance II - Henry is back - coming 2024

Monastery is the jankiest quest by far. Super easy to break, even unintentionally. And the gameplay loop is indeed insufferable. On the other hand, the atmosphere is on point - you really feel like you've entered another world. Monk singing is great too. Shame they couldn't make the gameplay...

Kingdom Come: Deliverance II - Henry is back - coming 2024

IIRC you can get a horse prior to that if you set your mind to it. But you get it very early on in the main quest, so there's not much point forcing it

Kingdom Come: Deliverance II - Henry is back - coming 2024

Yeah, you can see it in Mafia too - Vavra tries to make his characters act like real people rather than theatre set pieces. Doesn't mean there can't be depth or emotion (Mafia ending had both in spades), but that you don't get the Larian-esque overacting and fake emotion.

All I want from them is to unfuck the masterstrike and clinch cheese. Single-handedly ruined KCD1's combat.
