Expeditions: Rome - the final Expeditions game from Logic Artists

This is one of those games that feel like a chore to complete. Everything is tedious. The combat always starts you so far from the enemy, with loads of trash mobs, the legion battles are lol worthy, the skills are not exciting, the characters are just flat tropes.... The only good thing is the...

    Helldivers 2

If you nerf the backpack strats people will just use autocannon for everything. The problem with the game is that it's just a proc-gen map running sim. It's not like the old battlefield games since at least there, the real player dynamics and high player count keep things interesting.

    Helldivers 2

When I first started playing I thought 7 difficulty was hard. Now I'm playing 9 and it's EZ, gg. Shield + railgun for bots, rover + EATs for bugs, game done. I honestly don't know what this game has for staying power, it's so repetitive.

It's called a good run, not a nice run. Strike this insolent priest down.

Why is everyone and their mom doubling down on this artstyle?

KickStarter Baldr's Squid Isekai: A Parody - now available on Early Access

Maybe eventually this game will go on GOG like Memoirs, but that's something I have to talk to one of my business partners about.

What drove BG3's success, game mechanics or emotional engagement?

My main problem with Larian writing, even though in BG3 it's significantly better compared to DOS2, is that it's still so fucking camp. Nothing matters, everything's a joke, the game is so pseudo British in a way that makes no fucking sense. So when you mash that with super dramatic characters...

So how hard is RPG solodev? An AMA thread

Yes, Steam is the largest storefront. If you're releasing a PC game and you don't have 10+ million dollars, it's the storefront you're aiming for. Also, they added a new privacy mode or something. I wouldn't know, :smug:. My game broke steam. Sorry.

So how hard is RPG solodev? An AMA thread

An exit plan besides abject failure? Probably will do the Jeff Vogel thing. Gamedev for me isn't a means to an end but rather the end itself. I consider it a form of art and I'll use to explore my perception of truth. But with more money and higher polish. Huh, it really does get funnier...

Mass Effect New Mass Effect confirmed

Plus, ME5 is likely so far away from delivery that the chances of it getting canceled when BioWare bombs with Dreadwolf and gets cannibalized by its owners is very high. This is what we probably call "low-effort twitter hype building."

So how hard is RPG solodev? An AMA thread

Oh way more. I do 10 hour days, 7 days a week. No holidays off unless I have something planned. But this includes a lot of low intensity work such as reading player feedback, interacting on forums and shit. And I'm my own boss 100%, so if I want to do nothing but play Helldivers or whatever...

So how hard is RPG solodev? An AMA thread

I just released my BG3 parody: https://rpgcodex.net/forums/threads/baldrs-squid-isekai-a-parody-now-available-on-early-access.148458/ Largest challenge is probably always going to be making enough money to stay afloat. Two of my games are not profitable at all, Memoirs is decently profitable...

Mass Effect New Mass Effect confirmed

In the future, good games will be made by solodevs. But, slightly more optimistic I guess? As much as I could in nu-Bioware.

So how hard is RPG solodev? An AMA thread

It's always real funny when I say "Yeah, I'm in the porn biz" and you can tell people are mentally analyzing you in a "what the fuck does he do, camera man? Maybe he has a huge cock." kind of way. I always leave it vague to fuck with them. No, I'm not in game and I don't think steamdb counts...
