The server that runs this site and several others is financed primarily from advertising income. Since advertising income alone does not cover all of our expenses, we welcome your donations to help us stay afloat.
There are 2 ways that you can donate: via an "account upgrade" or "anonymously". The basic difference between the two is that anonymous donations come with no benefits to you (except our undying gratitude, of course), whereas account upgrade donations come with various perks applied to your forum account.
To provide an incentive for Codex users to donate some money, we've put a system in place that will disable the ad banners for donators, as well as provide several additional perks. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, donating now comes with benefits! Account upgrades start at $15 and the more you donate in one go, the more you save in the long run. Since the disabling of ads relies on the forum database, you need to be registered and logged in to take advantage of this.

Account Upgrades FAQ
Q: Will you make my donation public knowledge?
A: No. Only Codex staff can view the donator list.
Q: I have two accounts, can I get them both ad-free for the same amount of money?
A: No, we're sneakily taxing alters extra.
Q: What if I don't have a credit card?
A: Snail mail donations are possible, send a PM to Taluntain on the forums and ask him for the details.
Q: Will having the "patron" rank make me immune to getting the "Dumbfuck!" tag?
A: No. Forum moderators reserve the right to give you the "dumbfuck!" tag if we feel you deserve it, no matter whether or not you donated. We're still grateful though!
Q: What if my account is banned? Will I still have access to the benefits I've paid for?
A: No. If you get your dumb-ass banned for some reason, obviously any benefits associated with that account will no longer be available. Your best bet is to try and get that account unbanned.
Q: Can I disable the patron tag above my avatar in posts?
A: The tag is applied automatically when an account upgrade is processed and at present there is no way to disable it.
Q: I have some other question / problem / issue that wasn't addressed above.
A: Contact us!
You can choose to donate anonymously, receiving no benefits whatsoever (we're still thankful, though!). This option does not require a forum account, but you can still use it even if you are a member, should you want to.
