Fallout 2 was boring.

Andhaira, every one of your new Fallout-related threads are banal, shitty and boring. Your magnus opus whas the infamous Totally Imposible to Avoid Combat in Fallout. It was a great, finely crafted piece of trolling art, I give you that.

But after that, every attempt to repeat the success of the aforementioned thread has been a pathetic failure. Just give up dude. You'll never reach those heights again.

Just circumscribe your post to GD, that's where you belong.

I don't really like most of FO2 and I don't find it outstandingly boring (for an RPG), just dumb and insipid. Also a little bit of annoyance at the wasted potential too.

Seriously, I agree. I never finished it more than once. The game had some pretty good quest design at times, but not much else. Setting was ruined, barely any memorable characters (subjective I suppose), a lot of boring quests (fedex bullshit), story was boring too. Combat was ridiculously unbalanced, and like with the original Fallout it was possible to make a character that could pretty much do everything if you knew what you were doing. To me the Fallout games represent something, but I don't actually enjoy them that much, which makes me a huge poser of course.
Decline of the motherfucking codex.

The only problem with Fallout 2 is the ending.
Nope. The only, at least, the only *MAJOR* problem with FO2 is lack of cohesion and consistency. It's just too much of a random heap of stuff that seemed cool or funny at the time. Still a great game, but this is it's main problem.

Also, I can accept and even like talking deathclaws, but talking deathclaws is where I draw the line - smart radscorpion and talking plant were just :retarded: .

I see you are relatively new here.

Andhaira cannot be banned. In fact he was banned around 20+ times per week a few years back, but that never stopped him. He kept coming back.

The inner storyfag inside me agrees with Andhaira. Fallout 2's story/characters were very lackluster, imo. As many others have mentioned, F2's setting had no consistency whatsoever and way too much silliness to be taken seriously. I never really found it engaging. Imo, 'boring' would very a very good word to describe what I felt about Fallout 2's story.

But fortunately, story/atmosphere isn't everything, and F2 managed to be pretty solid in all other aspects. It had decent combat, very good character system, good art design, and good c&c. Ultimately, I still enjoyed the game, but I can definitely understand why somebody would find it boring.

Eh, to each their own. I've completed fallout 2 quite a few times, and on each playthrough i usually always find something that i've missed.

For once, he's pretty right. Fallout 2 has way too much filler and uneven quality; it was good for one playthrough, and I'll probably give it another run now that the restoration patch is pretty much done, but I still remember praying for the sweet release of death when trudging through the temple, the rat caves or whatever the fuck they were, that mine, the Enclave floor puzzle, the tanker inexplicably filled with endless remnants of the Master's army, watching endless NPCs shuffle across the screen when fighting in the Den/New Reno...

But still it was good Fallout and if they could have learned from more mistakes I think the doomed Van Buren could have been great.
