EDIT: I have removed img tags from the first post because its images were too big.

So, there was a guy called captain Jones. He was serving in British army during WWII. This is his story.

http://img256.imageshack.us/img256/4053 ... twined.png
10th May 1940. I was posted to Belgium to fight against the Germans.

http://img228.imageshack.us/img228/4053 ... twined.png
I had to defend an Egg Hill. Sounds like a great place to die.

http://img14.imageshack.us/img14/318/zr ... winedz.png
I was pretty satisfied with the forces I got, so I didn't change anything in the force composition.

http://img686.imageshack.us/img686/4053 ... twined.png
I have set up my 25 pounder on the hill, with maximum LoS and put the 2 pounder on my right flank.

http://img526.imageshack.us/img526/4053 ... twined.png
I have sent the rightmost squad (Squad 4) forward in order to gather reconnaissance data and disrupt enemy advance. I have replaced it with squad 5 which was holding a nearby road.

http://img188.imageshack.us/img188/204/ ... winedx.png
A minute and a half later it made contact with enemy, including numerous infantry and a Sd.Kfz. 232 armoured car. I called an artillery strike on a place where a lot of enemy fire was coming. The armoured car got destroyed by the 25 pounder positioned on the objective.
(Note on game mechanics: Artillery support first has to fire a few single adjustment shoots before firing three volleys on the target. Time before calling the artillery and the artillery strike is about 2 minutes.)

http://img401.imageshack.us/img401/4053 ... twined.png
Squad 4 was slowly retreating, while slowing down the enemy and finding groups of enemies for the fire support.

http://img84.imageshack.us/img84/4053/z ... twined.png
Squads 5 and 8 make contact with the enemy.

(Note on game mechanics: One thing that isn't visible on screenshots, but most of my squads was under fire most of the time and was firing back. Often, there aren't any enemy soldiers visible, but both sides fire in general direction where the enemy fire is coming from in order to suppress the enemy. Unlike in Close Combat which requires carefully spotting muzzle flashes and ordering unit to area fire - an ability that the CC AI doesn't have, in Firefight it happens automatically.)

http://img707.imageshack.us/img707/5429 ... winedr.png
Squad 6 on made contact with the enemy. They received enemy artillery fire. One of 2 pounder gunners have died.

http://img541.imageshack.us/img541/4053 ... twined.png
A minute later the enemy tried to attack through there but was stopped.

http://img197.imageshack.us/img197/4053 ... twined.png
Squads 5 and 8 take casualties from the enemy artillery fire.

http://img249.imageshack.us/img249/4053 ... twined.png
I slowly retread the remains of squad 4 towards my defence line.

http://img40.imageshack.us/img40/4053/z ... twined.png
My troops receive HMG fire from that wood. I call an arty strike on it. It turns out that there's another heavy recon car.

http://img532.imageshack.us/img532/4763 ... wineda.png
Fuck! Lots of Germans come out of the forest. I literally forget about the armoured car and call an arty strike to destroy them while they get pinned by my soldiers/gun.
One of the soldiers from squad 4 is immobilized by his wound(s).

http://img684.imageshack.us/img684/5429 ... winedr.png
About 2 minutes later...

http://img199.imageshack.us/img199/6610 ... winedn.png
Squads 5 and 8 got badly mauled by the enemy artillery. I see some enemy soldiers trying to attack there. I'll have to reinforce that position. I move remnants of squad 4 to the edge of the village.

http://img42.imageshack.us/img42/4053/z ... twined.png
HMG/autocannon fire again. I call another artillery strike.

http://img695.imageshack.us/img695/4053 ... twined.png
Damn, I'm out of artillery.

http://img80.imageshack.us/img80/4053/z ... twined.png
Things start look to look grim for squad 5 and 8 - the enemy captured a part of the village that they are holding and now is firing on them from houses. Damn.
I need to reinforce them but I don't have any reserves.

http://img405.imageshack.us/img405/4053 ... twined.png
I consider moving squad 6 to the village but it's still attacked by enemy soldiers.

http://img706.imageshack.us/img706/4053 ... twined.png
Finally, I decide to go there myself.

(Note on game mechanics: When I say "I", I mean it. There's actually a guy in the command team that is called "you". When he dies, the game ends. Additionally, the PCs radio has only a limited range, so it's possible to lose contact with units. Sadly, it's only for orders, there's no friendly fog of war :( .)

http://img202.imageshack.us/img202/417/ ... winedl.png
The rest of my team suddenly gets under intense enemy fire and they run away. What a goatfuck.

http://img19.imageshack.us/img19/6244/z ... winedi.png
Germans are getting out of the forest. I order squad 7 to fire at them. Hmm... I wonder why they didn't do that automatically...

http://img641.imageshack.us/img641/4053 ... twined.png
Fuck. Now I'm stuck with my pistol against all these fucking krauts. Fucking great...

http://img405.imageshack.us/img405/5348 ... winedy.png
Fuck yeah, suddenly the enemy starts surrendering. Goddamned fucking amateurs.

http://img691.imageshack.us/img691/4053 ... twined.png
Krauts are running away everywhere. Still, some of these bastards are crawling around me.

http://img88.imageshack.us/img88/4053/z ... twined.png
I order squad 6 to move to the village just in case.

http://img30.imageshack.us/img30/4053/z ... twined.png
There's one enemy soldier left in front of squad 7. I order the squad to go to him and talk him out of resistance.

http://img210.imageshack.us/img210/4053 ... twined.png
The rest of my command team finally moves to me.

http://img243.imageshack.us/img243/4053 ... twined.png
Victory. It seems that I'm going to live for some time.

Will Captian Jones survive in the deadly sands of North Africa or will he become another casualty of WWII?

Are you taking those screens by hand?

It looks like a standard Win window. Get irfanview, install, press c, capture foreground window - client area, save as bmp, batch convert to "png optimal 128 color palette" with the save for web plugin, batch upload to photobucket, build tagged picture list, ctrl-c, ctrl-v. PROFIT.
Alternatively use Photoshop for conversion.

Your png is 600 kb. Optimal png is 150.

Oh fuck, you're right. I'll reduce the size of further screens to ~170kb.

I'm playing on Wine. Does anyone know a Linux tool that could do the batch conversion thing?

Another battle.

zrzutekranudefaultwinedd.png

I got about 10 infantry squads but I have decided replace most of them with two infantry tanks.

zrzutekranudefaultwined.png

My forces on map.

zrzutekranudefaultwined.png

I send scouts before my main force. They get under fire, I call artillery on the enemy position.

zrzutekranudefaultwined.png

I bypass the enemy position with my main force.

zrzutekranudefaultwinedp.png

Results of artillery support.

zrzutekranudefaultwinedj.png

My main force moves further towards the objective. Squad 5 that occupies the Iron Hill gets under enemy artillery fire.

zrzutekranudefaultwined.png

Bren Carrier recons the objective.

zrzutekranudefaultwinedt.png

My infantry gets under fire from the St George's hill. I call artillery fire upon it.

zrzutekranudefaultwined.png

One of my tanks and an infantry squad closes to the objective.

zrzutekranudefaultwined.png

Part of my infantry gets suppressed by the enemy artillery and small arms fire when trying to get to the objective. I get stuck under fire too. Fuck.

zrzutekranudefaultwined.png

Squad 4 supported by squad 5 attempts to clear the hill 138 of enemies and then to get to the objective.

zrzutekranudefaultwinedf.png

My forces receive fire from the Blackberry hill. I call an artillery strike on it.

zrzutekranudefaultwined.png

Another attack gets stuck. What a goatfuck.

zrzutekranudefaultwineda.png

Oh good fucking God! I'm wounded I can't move! Also no one can help me because all my infantry got stuck.

zrzutekranudefaultwinedp.png

OH SHI-

zrzutekranudefaultwined.png

2 other dead command team members later...

This mission was an epic fail. The worst thing was that for some weird reason I thought that tanks can't capture objectives and I haven't ordered the Matildas to drive to the objective but stopped them about 30 metres from it.
