Some might have noticed that the old NWN and NWN2 forums went down. The reason seems to be that the site has been hacked.

Yesterday (June 14), we learned that a hacker gained unauthorized access to the decade-old BioWare community server system associated with the Neverwinter Nights forums. We immediately took appropriate steps to protect our consumers’ data and launched an ongoing evaluation of the seriousness of the breach. We have determined that no credit card data was compromised, nor did we ever have or store sensitive data like social security numbers. However hackers may have obtained information such as user account names and passwords, email addresses, and birth dates of approximately 18,000 accounts--a very small percentage of total users. We have emailed those whose accounts may have been compromised and either disabled their accounts or reset their EA Account passwords. If you did not receive an email from us, or if your password still works for your EA account, your username and password were not compromised. Nevertheless, changing your password regularly is always helpful to protect your account.

We take the security of your information very seriously and regret any inconvenience this may have caused you. If your username, email address and/or password on the Neverwinter Nights forums are similar to those you use on other sites, we recommend changing your password at those sites as well. We advise all of our fans to always be aware of any suspicious emails or account activity and report any suspicious emails and account activity to Customer Support at 1-866-543-5435.

What if the malicious hacker deletes my porn DLC?

Are NWN + NWN2 permanently down now? I mean it is oldschool-shit anyways and it wouldn't be bad for bioware to get rid of this.

Real hackers would have the guts to target the expectedly better protected NEW SHIT instead of the old.

If they were better hackers, they'd repair the insecurities for free.

This news would be better, sexier and grimdarkier if the title was more like "BioWare hacked into three minor studios by EA" or "BioWare hacked homeless people in their basement"

This.
Also smells more and more like a CIA/other agency false flag operation. Sure everyone will agree we need "a more secure internet" (aka more censorship and state control) after all fucking insecure servers like the ones games run on are hacked and lulzed.

I'm not sure what a hacker could use out of that unless you need a credit card to post there.

Maybe they could make a database of people that are into gay pixel love and blackmail them, not sure.

I guess the CIA overthrowing governments were conspiracy theories too. There have been far better hackers getting caught for lesser targets by agencies with less resources than today. These guys caused Sony to probably loose billions and tons of goodwill, hacked into senate databases and the CIA.

Actually it is the old (school) nwn (and possible nwn2 sites as well?) that has been hacked, not the new ones at the Bioware Social Network (BSN).

Christ Priestly also wrote a message where he explained that Bioware investigated what had happened and that would see what they could do abotu people's cdkeys stored on the (now) hacked nwn site.

Mass email of gaider/priestly underwear bulge PMs excuse joke.

and now for something completely different:

Its funny how frequent people use the word conspiracy in a way as if saying "something foolish and obviously wrong" (so obvious that I will point out how obvious it is).
Conspiracy theory!

Its a wonder why the word "conspiracy" even exists. Something abstract perhaps.
Men don't "conspire" (what ever that means). Especially for power, control or money.

All of these digital service providers are going to be reporting this kind of shit in an attempt to justify and legitimize Cybersecurity bullshit. Predictable.
