I fucking hate the unlock system. I can NOT get any assault rifles, seriously, not one single one. *RAGE*
Seriously. Playing as a level 16 Vanguard and I'm stuck with the same old shitty level 1 shotgun. The freemium-style unlocks are paced way too slow and it's really obvious they're trying to "encourage" players to shell out real money by making your character (and difficulty) fast outpace your gear.

Shocking. It's almost as if EA is witholding parts of the game already on your disc until you fork over even more money for the product you alreay bought. :smug:

I suppose you could fire up a hex editor and unlock things if you don't want to grind to see the different SP endings. But if you do, you will get banned from the SP game apparently. EA es #1 troll.

Lvl 17 Adept, 9 Infiltrator, 5 Soldier here. Still I did not receive ANY new weapon beyond the standard set of guns despite investing in Veteran and and Specter packs. Can't do any significant damage with my shitarse pistol. :( Good I have the biotics.

Stick with the 20k crates for the Phalanx and Pistol Scope. Once you get the pair, plus barrel extension, you're set for bronze runs. I swear, the Carnifex clip size 6 and crap rate of fire got me killed a couple of times when the Phalanx can drop a regular trooper with 3-4 head shots while sporting a clip size 12. Very disappointed with Carnifex.

Go for Sentinel IMO. :) Human Sentinels are best at their jobs even without good guns.

Sentinel
Not as large sized as Soldier counterpart – yet more durable with Tech Armor, Sentinels rely more on biotic skills as damage rather than weapons. Weapons can aid in dispatching enemies quicker too, but generally as a Sentinel you want to use your biotics more often and that’s what your team would want.
Three races are available to choose from:
    • Human
Abilities: Throw, Warp, Tech Armor, Alliance Training, Fitness (Sentinel)
Possibly the most effective Sentinel skill set. Warp & Throw allows Human sentinels to chain their own Biotic Explosions. This is a powerful ability when hard targets arrive. Biotic explosions make no distinction between any targets, warp a target, hit it with throw and it’ll explode. Throwing basic troopers about while unloading pistols from mid or point blank range, the Human Sentinels are unmatched in effectiveness across all difficulties.
    • Turian
Abilities: Warp, Overload, Tech Armor, Turian Veteran, Fitness (Sentinel)
Turian Sentinels start with more shield, but they replace the all rounded Throw with specialist Overload. This isn’t a complete loss, but the lack of Biotic Explosion can be felt. Use them if you face Geth. Turian veteran passives improve Weapons handling more than Human Alliance passive. This is a clear distinction between the two.
    • Krogan
Abilities: Incinerate, Lift Grenade, Tech Armor, Krogan Berserker, Rage
I unlocked this last night and still wondered if it’s feasible to go around at point blank range, taking advantage of the Krogan berserker ability that boosts damage and resistance when you killed 3 opponents in melee range. The Tech Armor power would allow you to close in and unleash close range damage by detonating it, at a sizeable damage and short stagger time, too. Otherwise, Incinerate is single target damage over time, and Lift Grenade is limited by ammo. This isn’t really feasible when facing hard targets, and people would want Sentinels to chain Warp when Banshees start appearing. Krogan Sentinels would require a unique playstyle to be successful.
General Sentinel Tips
  • Tech Armor detonation goes through walls and damages units in radius. Take advantage of this when you need a power that cannot miss. Phantoms come in mind.
  • Biotic Throw Rank 5 enables cooldown reset when it triggers a Biotic Explosion. Human Sentinels should abuse this when bombarding heavy targets. Warp > Throw > Warp > Throw > Warp > Throw.
  • If possible, hold off Fitness (HP & Shield) and go for offensive powers. You’re not a tank, but the 25% Tech Armor damage reduction will make you more durable than the rest. Most of your skills are deployable from covers. Use that knowledge to stay alive. If the screen turns red, stop shooting and fall back.
  • Weapon of choice should provide a good balance of recharge speed and power. Phalanx Pistol is the best candidate. Assault Rifles are too heavy. Avenger AR is a decent choice if you just started out. Remember that throwing around targets before engaging lessens incoming damage.

I'm having a hard time choosing between Vanguard and Sentinel for my next playthrough. Vanguard are powerful, but what do they do against Banshees?

My soldier in SP was unstoppable with the particle "Ima shootin mah lazer!!!1!!!" gun + armour set that gave 100% damage bonus. With Javik and Liara as party members, nothing stood a chance.

I think some classes are underpowered at the moment. I can't wait for them to jack up the Soldier's passive weapons bonuses. Adrenaline might kick up a storm during hard targets, but in general, their performance is pretty mute.

Soldier with Particle gun is really overpowered, though. Combined wiith Javik's Dark Channel maxed out (+70% damage to barrier/armour), you can kill 3 Brutes in less than 10 seconds when you fully charge the weapon.

I only use Adrenaline rush to instantly restore shields (I took +50% shields when maxing it out).

The only really dangerous enemy in the game is the Banshee, anyway. Phantom/Nemesis can simply be put in Stasis (which would be a great bonus power for Sentinel) followed by insta-rape.

For Geth, there is... Tali.

You're talking about Single Player? The same one I spent dicking around for 4-5 hours before discovering MP that I slurped all that shit up and still wanting more after N7 Level 140?
Right. Right. Right. What is this I don't even.

I played one match in MP and got bored. Maybe it's better on higher level, but... no. Fighting off waves if what you do in every SP sidemission, anyway.

I get what you mean, maybe I'm broken, but hey, I love it. It was pretty fast paced and posed enough challenge at Silver and Above. We shd play sometime.

Yeah, with Warp and Throw Human Sentinels make better Biotics than Adepts. I will eventually pick one - once I reach lvl 20 with my Adept. Adepts have the Singularity which is good for crowd control. The thing is when tou use it and your bros quickly deal with whatever you are caught you end up with meagre few points for Assissts. Lame.

Score doesn't really matter. First few games I played with Ed, RK and Bruticis I spent the entire time as a quarian infiltrator. I didn't fire a single shot. I still ended up with 150k XP and 16k Credits.

Throw is quite good. I can deal a bit of damage with that. Banshee is fucking terrible, though. Need concentrated firepower for that.

Banshee is a little bit tricky. Basically EVERYONE needs to burn that bitch down or risk getting wiped. The Area Wail will destroy everyone if she ever gets close. Do consider a rocket if things get too crazy IMO. I've seen public matches where ppl refuse to use rockets for some indiscernible reason. Or spend a medigel to get back up and finish the fight.

How come sometimes we die just randomly in a group? Is there some enemy (like the banshee) that's does and AoE AFTER they die? On several occasions, I've just fallen over and died out of the blue and usually anyone near me does to at the same time.
Also, I now have a level fucking NINE sniper rifle and still not one single assault rifle upgrade. They need weapon trades to counteract this random unlock stupidity.

Oh guys, try the Tempest SMG with Clip Size increase and Heat Sink.
This shit is hilarious when you run a Soldier with Adrenaline/Marksman bonus up. Be sure to have Cryo Ammo on for maximum hilarity. Tempest is so fucking light compared to the any Assault Rifles and RoF can add up quick when shooting down hard targets at point blank range.

Other guns I've unlocked:
Geth Assault Rifle - Shit damage makes this utter crap past Bronze. The principle is low recoil, huge clip size, and low damage. But Tempest can do better at lesser weight.
Arc Pistol - A pistol with Charge-Up ability and high rate of fire. Interesting - but not getting value for weight. It's heavy, maybe once I've got it to mark III or so, I'll revisit it again.

Banshee on its own is pretty harmless, but when everybody just shoots at it ignoring everything else in the back is when shit hits the fan.

You can add Phaeston to the list of useless ARs, same deal as with geth pulse rifle with slightly smaller clip.

Worse then not using a rocket is when 3 people use one at the same time! If you're going to use a rocket, call it out bros.

Banshee has fucking insane hp though, partly complicated due to her relatively svelte profile (*fap fap fap*). Barrier is easy enough to bring down, but I could barely chip away at her armour with soldier/infil class.
That's true, but unless you are in melee range she can't really kill you either with her ranged attacks only, the problem is that when you are kiting her you will probably become exposed to everything else, and they will mow you down in no time if you are not in cover. I'm not saying it shouldn't be focused down by the team ASAP, but at first you should really get rid of the weaker enemies in the back (which will actually die fast), then go all out on her. Hacking missions on the other hand... those can get ugly real fast with banshees teleporting around :(

I like it when Ed revives me on top of a banshee and she immediately picks me up and kills me before i can even move. Fucking spawn campers!
